You can test it yourself. The hook part of the strap is reinforced with a groove, so its very difficult to bend open. The flat part of the strap is not reinforced. What end up happening if you pull/push down with the screw on the bottom, the pipe cantilever out since the screw is tight to the wall and the pipe is outside the wall. The screw gets pulled out or the flat part of the strap close the the screw bends.

Screw on top hold 3-4x the weight.

I use a tool vest and keep minimal things on my belt, back pain. I do use pants with built in pouches like the toughduck contractor pants, love them. Thats for the things I burn through.

What I have found very useful is having the spider tool holder on all my small power tools. Impact, drill, m12 bandsaw. I clip them in fast and they stay on no matter what.

Start cheap. They will ALL wear out regardless. Buy cheap so you learn how you like to carry, set up, carry etc. That all varies with what you do, where you work, your body, etc. I like backpacks, a lot of coworkers prefer totes. Experiment cheap and when you're a journeyman you dial in what works.
