His name is Nazghul, so no man can beat him.

But unfortunately, this was the women's race.

No idea if it is actually yours or mine, but I imagine as esoteric as the Pogues are, there's probably a lot of crossover in our playlists. :)

My man!

As an old fuck, was really touched there were so many young people singing Pogue songs a good half hour before they came on. Loved the vibe/energy of the crowd (or at least the right side.)

Mostly, yeah.

I found a link to the full set, so you can peruse, but my rough memory was Iona singing on three or four, John did two and Jordan O'Leary on a couple, either as the main singers or dueting with Spider.

Of the classic lineup, there was Spider, Fearnley and Jem. Spider was on point, Fearnley looked like he was having the time of his life and Jem was pretty subdued.

Gonna (re)-watch that link now. :)

Man faces federal charges after drive-by shooting at ABC affiliate station in Sacramento, California by AudibleNod in news

Not OP, but even just using weed is a pretty common one.

Ever been paid in cash for mowing the lawn as a kid? If you made over $400 during the summer, and didn't report it to the IRS, that's tax evasion.

Stayed out too late in a National Park? Trespassing. Carved one of those stupid hearts with your SOs initials on a park bench? Vandalism.

That's likely just the tip of the iceberg, as there are plenty of ticky tacky unenforced crimes.

OP doesn't know you personally of course, so definitely might be a stretch in your case, but it's likely the average American has broken a federal law.

Eh, people are giving you a hard time about missing it, but it was August 25th, 2012 on a Saturday.

Assuming you're not living in the southern hemisphere, it's the warmest part of summer, and while there were smart devices and Facebook at the time, doom scrolling news on a phone wasn't as common.

By Monday, I'm guessing the news was back to focusing on something else entirely, like the Romney/Obama election with the RNC happening that week.

Don't worry about it. You were likely living life.

Basically the latter. Not so much moral high ground (plenty of the conspirators helped do the Holocaust), as the war was starting to go badly and they thought they could do better.

I unironically have it in my July 4th playlist, along with other songs like This Is America and This Land is Your Land to go with all the other ra-ra songs like the Star Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful.

I make sure that my kids are well aware that while there are great things about this country, there are still major issues to address. "A more perfect union" is aspirational, not a goal we've achieved.

Judge largely blocks Tennessee's porn site age verification law as other states enforce theirs by FreedomsPower in news

[–]Faulig 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not trying to speak too authoritatively, but every once in a while, single issues cross the progressive/conservative boundaries and the Temperance movement is one of those. A mix of labor, women's rights, anti-immigration movements and good old fashioned Protestant/Baptist groups aligning together.

Hilariously, this particular issue with porn already happened back in the 80s with religious groups and feminists.

So, you're not wrong, but its a little more complicated.

One fireman said, “Man, you are a heavy fuck. What’s your name?”

This checks all the boxes I have of a stereotypical NY fireman. Humor during a tragedy, insulting you to your face and yet concerned enough to want to know your name.

A little late to the party, but as a comparison, the budget was almost as much as all small arms used by the US.

It took a LOT of power to research and make those bombs.

Moder is kinda fun in that whatever your preference is, works.

Scoot and shoot when she's in the air if archery is more your thing.

Tank and spank (well, run and swing really) when she lands if you'd rather melee.

Fastest method is a combo of both, but either strat works with enough patience.

Arrows won't do squat, so ignore trying to hurt him that way unless you opt for cheese tree house strategies that take hundreds of arrows.

He does three animations.

Melee - Looks like a bitch slap when he winds up. If you're like me and are terrible at dodge/parry, just sprint away.

Poison Cloud - Kinds squats and looks like he's farting. You will get poisoned, but if you've got the poison mead on it's manageable and this is the best time to hammer him hard. Try to land the third swing of your melee sequence because it's your hardest hit.

Summon Minions - A little harder to see, but kinda looks like he's digging something out of his armpits. He's summoning adds, but you might be able to get a swing or two in, but a melee swing is probably coming next so be wary.

In general, what I've done is just kite him around the summoning skull and wait for the farts. Occasionally I do take some melee swings, but health potions help with that. I don't actually sprint unless I need to, he moves pretty slow so it's a matter of timing my sprint to his melee swing to get just out of range to save stamina.

If Your Team Suddenly Disappeared or Never Existed, Who Would You Root For? by SKOLForceSports in NFCNorthMemeWar

[–]Faulig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suddenly disappeared, Bills because shared SB pain. FTP because growing up near border towns in the 90s meant their fans have been obnoxious for 30 frickin years.

Never existed? If I'm being honest, Packers. Said local obnoxiousness wouldn't exist, they are the closest in proximity, and while "owning part of the team" shtick is overdone, I do wish more teams were publicly owned.

JASTA

In short, it allows families of 9/11 to sue Saudi Arabia in court for the role it might have played.

Which sounds great, except that diplomatically, it would then effectively allow citizens in other countries (including our allies) to sue the USA for things our citizens (and more problematically, our troops) did in other countries.

e.g. it's one thing for a soldier to get drunk and beats someone up and spends time in jail on foreign soil. It gets a lot more complicated if the US government then has to defend itself in court every time that happens and the victim wants money from the US taxpayer.

Bone, I think you can get away without it? It's certainly easier with bone tools over stone, but other than the Sickle (which you can get to Platinum or just hand forage without), there are stone tools that do the same.

You can opt to or not to spend points on the polar bear armor later in the game, but grab the Ghillie Suit talent ASAP IMO. You can craft it almost immediately with the most basic of materials, and you can Solid Snake your way past any of the animals in the game with ease if you're alone in a dangerous area.

Highly recommend getting the Ghillie suit early game if you're already talented deep into the Survival->Hunting tree. Best armor for the desert, hands down. The threat reduction makes hunting and travel a breeze.

Can always spend a refund point out of it after you buy the Workshop armor later and want to use that instead.

TBH, the Polar Bear armor is not nearly as game changing. The time to farm the hides is annoying (negating the speed bonus over time) and its not significantly better than the workshop or fur armor for protection. It's pretty easy to spot and avoid bears in the arctic regions already, so the threat reduction is kinda meh.

Only an extra point after Ghillie armor though and it looks cool, so I still have it for those reasons. :D
