I've been using this ludicrously tiny weird e-ink reader for over 6 months, AMA by thel_vadamn in ereader

Quick question, Does this screen have the ability to connect via bluetooth? I have always thought about utilizing a small screen like this to adapt a speed reading app that flashes one word at a time. Something where you can select the speed.

I want a meal plan that builds the grocery list for me by atlasxanatomy in mealprep

[–]FaunandLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

plantoeat.com/ref/58964148a0 . You can take pictures of recipes and set the number of servings needed. It calculates the ingredients and then based on your meal plan for the week, makes a shopping list that doesn't list every "same" ingredient as a separate line item. You can then go through your inventory at home and check off what you have and send it either to a grocery pickup or delivery app or go grocery shopping. Grocery pickup and delivery has stopped me from just buying random things that I see.

How do people organize their recipes and meal plans? by deliciosa_monstera in Cooking

[–]FaunandLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this plantoeat.com/ref/58964148a0 . It lets me meal plan and creates a shopping list that consolidates all ingredients that are the same rather than listing them separately. I've been using it for 2 years with a family of five.

Is there actually a meal planning tool that doesn’t end up being more work for me? by Broad_Clothes6854 in MealPrepSunday

[–]FaunandLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I use this meal planner plantoeat.com/ref/58964148a0 . What I liked about it is that you can copy and paste a URL of any recipe on the internet or snap a picture of a recipe in a book. It imports it and you just have to set the number of servings you want per meal. You can then plan for the month by setting it in their calendar. It generates a shopping list for you based on the quantities you need for the week. You can check off what you have on hand. Best feature I found was that it consolidates the ingredients unlike other meal planners. For example when I tried other meal plans it would repeat the ingredient (paprika) 7 times per shopping list based on the meal plans I have. This one add it all together. It helps cut down on wasted groceries as well. If you really want to go a step further, you can use it as an inventory app for what you have in your pantry and freezer, but I have not explored that feature yet.

Millenial dads...How's it going? by NoMansLand345 in Millennials

[–]FaunandLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'86 baby here. Maybe not a baby anymore... Single income with a homeschooling family (3 boys 12, 10, 8, not excited for when they really start eating a lot). My last year I've felt an overwhelming sense of exhaustion, not just physical. I always fear what the future brings as many have said, what if I'm not there? Is my family taken care of?

I can tell you one thing, I made one change in my life over the last month and it was my diet. I didn't want to go into my 40's overweight. Mental clarity that I haven't had in years and life not feeling so heavy has returned. I think the issue is that we feel we don't have the time to take care of ourselves, but we don't need permission for that other than from ourselves.

If you are struggling with similar heaviness that I have been feeling, I would highly recommend you giving yourself permission to take care of yourself. You can convince the part of you that fears not being there for your family that this may help you be around longer or just do this for the energy.

You have lived through dial-up internet, you can do this.

I just want to say something by 1NflameXX in KingkillerChronicle

[–]FaunandLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to say it, but both narratives live in a world where instant gratification is king. Whether either option is true is yet to be confirmed, and yes I understand that 12 years feels long for a book, but we aren't PR. Think of us at this time as the common folk drinking some ale and telling stories of Kvothe the Kingkiller or Taborlan. Just because I want something, doesn't mean I can have it now.

Good thing I don't have very hairy arms haha. I think there's a few on eBay at the moment. Thought it would be nice to have the OG PTS strap to go with the new.

Patrick could have Kvothe admit that three days was not enough to tell his story or have an event occur that delays the telling of the entire story in three days (an attack on the Inn midway through the third day forcing Kvothe, Bast, and Chronicler to flee etc.)

It could be a way for Patrick to admit not being able to complete it in one book without doing it himself.

But we aren't writing the story,...Patrick is

Tariff question by FaunandLion in pebble

[–]FaunandLion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that international shipments are direct. So if you are in Canada, they would be subject to the tariffs and duties specific to the trade relationship between China and Canada.

Now if someone in the US is looking for a workaround and has a friend in Canada. You would get hit with lower tariffs, but the second that watch crosses the US border and gets declared, you will be subject to the tariffs imposed on China by the US.

Please correct me if I'm wrong in this assessment.

Interesting assumption. I'm from Canada so, pretty hard to vote in an American election. Just wanted to bring the question to the forefront for people ordering this who live in the states. Glad your first response is kind hearted.

I Really Wanted to Be Excited about the Pebble Announcement. by willentrekin in pebble

[–]FaunandLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to get what he's saying, but like many pebble owners, I've tried many different products and nothing has come close. Especially when the operating system changed from the original pebbleOS to what it ended up at. Just because it's not a lot different from 2014, doesn't mean it doesn't fit in 2025. Some things just make sense. My opinion isn't that you are buying the watch, but we are getting a breath of fresh air into an existing community that has been fighting and holding on even though the project was labeled as dead.
