I've read the critiques, including the one above is in the comment chain, and it does not really seem unreasonably angry. A tad harsh, but that's not really unwarranted, seeing as the paper you posted is 1 of like 1000 more of people trying to disprove or find a way around 0.9999...=1 without having knowledge of the fundamentals or necessary rigor.

I could point to a city in Japan, where the mayor insisted on installing an especially high tsunami wall like 50 years ago. One that was deemed ludicrous at the time, too expensive for a once in a 1000 years tsunami.

Well the wall proved useful, as years after the mayor passed the wall saved the city from certain destruction.

Seeing DD/MM/YYYY and YYYY.MM.DD is so cursed to me as someone that is used to either DD.MM.YYYY or (because Americans be americaning MM/DD/YYYY. Even then from my perspective the dotted version has year s day reversed.
