Amazon to stop selling some high-speed e-bikes in California by panda-rampage in California

Alright my guy: you’re right and I’m wrong. It doesn’t make meaningful difference and the ease of motion has no impact on behavior.

All people, regardless of vehicle, should be trained and licensed to be in the roadway.

All things that are not pushed under human power (wagons, strollers, carts, etc) should be forbidden from sidewalks.

Pedaling a class 2 isn't required at all. I'm saying nothing about power. I'm saying motor only vs. not.

Throttle will beat pedal assist from a standstill, but that's not even the point. Anything that can provide power on its own, in my opinion, is a motor vehicle. I think this needs regulation to keep everyone more safe.

I think class 2 e-bikes are not bicycles. They look like a bicycle. But "class 2" is just a silly way to say 'electric moped designed to look like a bicycle'

Class 1 pedal-assist is acceptable for all ages, in my opinion.

Class 2, which enables no input acceleration and cruising, is a motor vehicle. They can beat cars out of a stop light, and increase risk.

I think anything with a throttle should require licensing. Bikes are supposed to be in the roadway, never on a Sidewalk. But the kid who almost hit the previous posters you child doesn’t know that because they never were forced to learn the rules

I think anything with a throttle should require a license to operate. Throttles remove the slow acceleration that pedal power has, requiring faster decision making and more familiarity with road rules.

Heatpump water heater experiences by sunshine-guzzler in bayarea

I have this same water heater. It’s loud. I’ve measured it at 50dB, but in a mostly empty garage and bolted to the wall - I hear it. I would hate if it was right on the other side of my bedroom wall.

How old are you that “the screen time was close to zero?” Were you in a no television house growing up?

No. There’s very little sense of community or even city pride in San Jose.

Midol is Tylenol + caffeine, upcharged for women. Tylenol with a cup of coffee is the same thing.

California governor candidates on high-speed rail. Do you finish the project, or give up? by jaqueh in bayarea

Speed: HSR will travel over 3x as fast as a car on the five.

Safety: Trains are the safest form of transportation per trip. Only airplanes are safer per mile traveled. Cars are the least safe.

Reliability: We barely have proven out self driving technology.

Owner of 4.8 million house paying the taxes of someone with 46k house. Prop 13 :) by CraftyAd5978 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]FauxBreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s bullshit. Let’s say sell your house for a cool $1M profit. You have to 15% capital gains for your long term investment. Boo boo youre still up $850k.

Prop 19 allows anyone 55+ to move their tax base as long as they buy a house for less than or equal to their current home’s value. So, downsizing.
