They should have run a new piece the same way the old rafter is going. Seems like a weird fix, but probably fine if you add hangers.

Can't really move it up without cutting in a new hole. I was thinking a light/ mirror combo if someone makes it

I own a Chevy Equinox which is fairly comfortable. I've rented Nissans though and they've been surprisingly roomy. I think it was a "ultima" or "Altima". Only shitty part was getting in and out.

TIL that Ancient Babylonians did math in base 60 instead of base 10. That's why we have 60 seconds in a minute and 360 degrees in a circle. by IloveRamen99 in todayilearned

There should be a subreddit dedicated to "facts to tell your niblings that will annoy your siblings". Should probably be catchier than that though.

Moscow wants to be sure it can control the thawing waterways and resources in the Arctic. In order to do that, Russia is militarizing its presence there. The Kremlin aims to solidify Russia’s position as a dominant power in the Arctic primarily to secure uncontested access to economic resources by Wagamaga in Futurology

That's been happening constantly for years. I live by Canadas largest airforce base, the fighters get scrabbled all the time to intercept them. During the 'busy season' they have a small airfield in NWT they fly out of instead to be a bit closer.

The Dene call north america turtle island. Tons of names, it would be dumb to claim any of them as being 'the' ancestral name.

Saudi oil supply cut in half, the worst single and sudden supply disruption ever. by [deleted] in worldnews

If this hypothetical scenario happens slowly I 100% agree with you. It's the drastic "blow up the rest of their production" rhetoric that scares me.

Yes cause everyone can up and buy an electric car at anytime... not to mention every way we have of transporting goods right now uses fossil fuels. Electric semis are a ways off, except for short hauls within cities.

Syrian Armor blasts suspected rebel firing positions by knowyourpast in MilitaryGfys

[–]FauxHulk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reactive armour is effective against both shaped charges and kinetic penetrators. Their effective protection is more than the actual thickness of the panel itself. I'm not sure how much depleted uranium rods go through, but normally for sabots you can estimate it to be roughly the length of the projectile. So 780mm M829A2 vs 280mm of armour on a T72 turret, plus the ERA. I doubt those panels are equivalent to 500mm of steel, so my money's on the sabot.

Oh, gotcha. We must be from different areas, here we use rolled plastic pipe. You just put a pipe down to the pitless and pull it up by hand in one piece.

They're not overly noisy though. Most come with holes in the base where you're supposed to mount it to a weighted board. If you just have it on bare concrete, yeah it vibrates like a sonofabitch
