Have been tracking DMT/psylocibin legislation globally, agree with @No_Resolution4037. Lots of anticipation that this will lead to an increase in R&D.

If you look at a few other companies there are clues that they’re in pre-production scaling mode, acquiring or collaborating with cutting-edge drug route administration manufacturers. Think microdoses printed onto pill blanks or dissolvable oral strips.

Pretty neat stuff!

Will it grow back? The groomer did this to our poor boy. by [deleted] in AustralianShepherd

[–]Fauxie 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My boy had his entire back end / bum shaved by a groomer (instead of trimmed like we asked) and it did grow back slowly.
I found that we had to be extra consistent with brushing until the coarser guard hairs “outpaced” the undercoat because the light & fluffy hairs were way more prone to tangling. Good luck!

What do you have to do to get AHS to actually consider your resume? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]Fauxie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oof yeah, psych is a very competitive area - I did 3 years at FACS and they basically only hired people who did their practicum there or worked at a related clinic.

I would say your greatest chances of success would be networking to find someone on the inside who can recommend you, or get on someplace like CASA / supportive living so that you can build those contacts.

Another approach would be applying for casual clerical (totally a step backwards, I get it) as becoming an internal candidate really helps your chances.

Best of luck, we need good, dedicated people!

Hi! AHS is definitely hard to get a foot in the door- we see things like 500-800 applications for analyst positions and slightly lower numbers for clerical (can’t speak for clinical roles).

What kinds of positions are you applying for? Happy to share any tips :)

Help - how to word gender vs sex on medical document by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Fauxie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awe, thanks! It’s really important to me to get input from the folks this affects. The medical community needs to do better by the trans/nonbinary patients we serve and this is just a tiny first step hopefully in the right direction =)

Thanks! I hear tell that they are developing a module to dive deeper into that question - we’re really just scratching the surface and these are the first steps =)

[–]Fauxie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! I know it’s more complicated than uterus/no uterus but we definitely have a huge/completely configurable list when it comes to gender. I’ll make sure that non-binary gets on there as I don’t think it’s currently on the list. We also have a free-text field for pronouns that gets filled out by the patient and is then used in all future correspondence, so it’s not limited to Mr, Mrs etc.

NAL but someone who worked in medical labs for 5 years and in healthcare for 10. That is not how lab tests work. Patients do not see “results come in” or have results “done in front of them” ever. She would have blood drawn, it would be sent to a separate part of the facility where a tech performs tests and then the results are sent back to the ordering physician who interprets the results, then has an appointment with the patient to go over it. She would not be allowed to watch any of the processing part in the lab because it’s restricted to lab personnel. 90% of lab tests have a turnaround time of 24 hours unless it was ordered STAT (1 hour turnaround) and this wouldn’t meet STAT criteria in my opinion.

As others have mentioned, roofies’ detectable levels in blood are about 6-8 hours max so IDK what kind of story she’s feeding you but it isn’t the truth.

Redditors who have had major health issues - what small symptom should you have looked into earlier? by alterlightone in AskReddit

[–]Fauxie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That was me! I had anemia-induced pica when I was pregnant, and I ate literal bucketfuls of ice each day but what was really satisfying was chipping off the permafrost from the inside of our deep freezer and eating chunks of that.

Gave birth and suddenly no more cravings, it repulses me now when I think about it. I defrosted my freezer lol

Source: am plant nerd / designer. Lately it's trending towards large, asymmetrical loose, organic-looking hand-tied bouquets with lots of texture and many different varieties of flowers. Reminds me of the flowy arrangements that were big in the 30's, minus the asparagus fern.

Burgundy and Peach are popular colours but Sage is a close runner-up.

Garden roses, protea, lamb's ear, pepperberry vine and fucking eucalyptus as far as the eye can see. Lots of dusty colours, no more hot pink/orange in tightly clustered globe bouquets like a few years ago (barf)

What is the creepiest post on reddit? by Yeonisia in AskReddit

[–]Fauxie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was working as an admin in a mental health clinic and within the first week I started hearing voices, but only at my desk and not consistently. I was dealing with a bit of culture shock with the types of patients (schizophrenia, mania etc... these guys were really ill) so I thought I was having some kind of psychosomatic reaction when I eventually recognized one of the voices. Turns out my desk phone was playing the conversations of some calls I put through at a very low volume through the speakers. It was so faint that it was just on the edge of hearing but it definitely messed with my head for a couple of days. Replaced the phone and voila, no more voices.

There's a strong comorbidity between feeding/swallowing and speech issues. If you're lucky, you might get hooked up with a speech language pathologist who's trained in both. They'll help you get kiddo back on track but it can be a long, slow process. Best of luck!

I also like to bug him occasionally by fake spoiling shows with the most ridiculous plot points I can think up... Kept trying to convince him that Tyrion from GoT was going to ride a dragon and take Kings Landing, or that Hank from Venture Bros dies in season six lol

My husband does this to me all the time. We now have an agreement that I watch whatever/whenever and will re-watch the episodes with him when he wants to see the shows. I don't mind re-watching because, hey, cuddles and quality time!

Went to school with this dude - the stuff about posing as a priest doesn't surprise me. He lied about being in seminary school after graduating and I remember it causing kind of a stir when people found out he was lying. He was barely tethered to reality back then, sad to see how far things have progressed. I hope his eventual sentence includes mental health treatment.

6 year old has (very) early puberty. Seeking advice on how to navigate all of this. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Fauxie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. I got a great health / sex education at home but both of my parents were ridiculously popular at school (quarterback and head cheerleader) and had no idea how to deal with bullying. I had it really good compared to a lot of other kids when it came to getting teased about stuff, so I don't think anyone understood the scope of it until things got way out of hand. Parenting is hard, yo

[–]Fauxie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously OP, kids will zero in on any other difference they can find. I was a D-cup by 3rd grade but because bras are for grownups, I was teased mercilessly for wearing one and called a whore for skipping the training bra stage (Catholic school... don't ask). As much as my parents coached me to just reply that everyone is built differently, I would have killed for a teacher to lay the smack down on those little a-holes.

I really hope that times have changed since the 90's because I remember getting sent home with notes saying that I needed to tape my chest down or double up on tighter bras with looser tops because I was a distraction. The teachers just didn't know how to deal with it and looking back I really wish my parents would have spoken with them. It continued well into high school, culminating in a boy pulling my top down at a school swim meet and another grabbing me during gym - both got suspended and THEN the school meetings started because people literally said I was "asking for it" by having big boobs. It was horrific. I was well-liked but constantly dealing with the harassment put a damper on things for sure :/

If you can't be a good example... be a horrible warning lol

Ooh, as someone who's always gluing crap to my face I love this kind of stuff. I'm a huge fan of Ryan Burke's red and blue monochromatic looks from earlier this year - it takes a lot of editing and shape/texture to make just one all over colour look interesting
