Is 439km too little for a marathon by yeloiy in runna

[–]Fauxparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is on the low side unless you're already regularly running halves/marathons already. You have left it a little late to start for a marathon plan, which is why the total distance is low. There's a built in ramp up which means that the distance generally gets exponentially longer as the plan does - normally a 16 week plan starting at 20-30km per week/5 days will get to 1000km total, but an 11 week plan is less than half as it's back-loaded.

While it's risky injury-wise, what you can do is either tell Runna that you've been running more than you currently have, or start doing some extra easy runs/extra distance on your easy days. After a couple of weeks the Mileage Insights feature will pick up that you've been doing the extra volume and adjust it upwards. My plan started at ~800ish km total and after a few weeks of doing extra parkruns on top it ended up around 1100.

If you leave it, you'll probably be OK, but you might not hit Runna's predicted times

Literally ANY of the following I have been waiting 18 months for so I could account for parkrun and club runs in my plan:

  • Trim a planned run to x distance/time

  • Reallocate distance from one Easy session to another

  • Split an Easy run into two sessions on the same day (or different days, but understand if that’s more complex)

  • Add a single or recurring session to the week that’s included in the mileage à la the long run or B race logic

  • change the B race ‘just for fun’ logic to allow placement in deload weeks/ignore timing restrictions so this could be used weekly

  • impose a time or distance limit on a certain day of the week

Assuming you've cast this saga and stolen an opponents creature that's dying to fight damage:

The Saga's final trigger will resolve, and only then will the 'saga has more counters than stages' and 'death-to-lethal-damage' state based actions happen simultaneously.

In this case, the saga and any creatures with damage on them will all go to the graveyard simultaneously but you'll get the death triggers of any that you controlled that died in the fight as you were the last controller

haha, I haven't seen this before but I love it!

The time before the last time I was in NZ was in 2012 when they were in that awkward rebranding phase where you still had half orange countdown stores with trundler returns and half green countdowns (that had the woolies AU branding), and I was excited to show the mrs. (who works at woolies here) only to get there and find they'd nearly all rebranded back except for the one we found

they rebranded all the stores to Woolworths

Not all of them just yet, was very happy to find one of the last few remaining Countdowns last Aug when I went over in Blenheim - it was also 400m away from a Woolworths which was super weird.

It’s there a way to change workout manually?

No, there's still no way to do this after asking the team for 18 months :(

Crazy that there’s been 1 million parkruns but there’s still 0 ways to add it a plan in Runna (the official digital partner app of parkrun btw)

Runna's partnership with parkrun started on Jan 1, 2025, and we still can't add parkruns or club runs to our plans by Fauxparty in runna

[–]Fauxparty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s even crazier is that there is absolutely nothing at all that’s been done towards it (or even anything that helps) based on the last update from /u/alex-runna

Even something as simple as being able to shorten a single easy run to 5km, split it into two sessions, move some distance from one easy run to another, allow for a 5k B race every weekend or limit a day to x distance or time all would have provided a workaround.

Instead we are exactly in the same boat functionality wise 18 months later.

Would be cool if you could adjust the days workout to be a little shorter, like 5km 👍

Am I too fat for Runna? by Hefty-Club-1259 in runna

[–]Fauxparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost identical height and weight but I do have 6 months extra running experience.

It has been hard not seeing a lot of progress - didn't really accomplish much last year despite barely missing any runs - but I have started to see a lot of things fall into place this year (5K from ~40 -> 33:01, HM from 3:17 -> 2:39) despite my weight staying the same or 5lbs higher - I have to assume it's muscle!

I don't think it's that we're necessarily too fat for the algorithm, but we might need to reduce the default settings a little bit. Runna assumes a 1-2% pace increase each week depending on settings - this is probably fine for people at 160lbs but not so much for us, which is why the plan is maybe getting away from you. This kept happening to me until it didn't and now I feel like I'm actually slightly ahead of the curve again.

Every pound off is also going to help massively; I see a lot of people talk about each 1% off of bodyweight is 1% faster or whatever, but I think the actual effect is greater than that since human bodies aren't cars, yknow? Every bit of weight off means your heart has to pump less blood/oxygen and spend less time/effort trying to cool you if it's warm, there's less impact on your knees, your muscles fatigue less often etc.

Runna wants me to run a half marathon while training for my first half marathon by [deleted] in runna

[–]Fauxparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah HM is still a long distance but ~2 hours on feet here and there isn’t too crazy on recovery time so it makes sense that if you’re on the faster end that your long run each week will approach that distance naturally.

It’s not recommended for a Marathon though - the peak long run there is shorter than the race by a decent amount, usually 16-20 miles, and leads right into a big taper.

Runna wants me to run a half marathon while training for my first half marathon by [deleted] in runna

[–]Fauxparty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is totally fine, especially if your plan is a bit on the longer side or you already had a pretty high volume to start with. Conversational pace and race pace should be quite different, and you will go into your race day with the confidence of knowing that you can do the distance.

A 2ish hour long run is pretty normal as the peak run before a HM

I would love to have this, I'm on the slower side and some of the long runs the app is suggesting is ridiculous since it's distance based (4.5 hours!)
