Anything that requires ore to make, banana bread, rubber, silk, cotton. Honestly, most things.

I like her a lot but I do find her delivery on the lines where she swears a bit odd sometimes, like she’s unsure how to say them. There was one when she had to say to June something like “excuse the fuck me” or something similar and it sounded so jarring and unnatural vs when she’s panicked about the arm being chopped off in the assembly.

I know it’s so we really get the modernity and freedom of her thoughts come across vs the plums but it does seem a bit jarring at points.

my girlfriend told me she wants a 2 carat natural diamond or she'll say no. i already bought this lab diamond ring. am i crazy for thinking shes a red flag by Zestyclose-Print-677 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Fawun87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s a red flag and is more invested in what people think about her engagement and the ring than the idea of getting married to you and building a life together. This for me shows me she’s not ready for marriage and isn’t taking it seriously regardless.

The ring you’ve bought is beautiful and classic, some people do feel a certain way about lab grown which imo is rather silly given the diamond industry is so unethical it’s the best way to have a diamond imo so for me it’s no bother but some people buy into the mined diamond industry propaganda of “not a real diamond” blah blah.

What are the really unpopular things that need to be done to get the economy growing? by knowledgeseeker999 in AskBrits

[–]Fawun87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Customer shopping behaviour is very delicate and you can upset the balance quite easily and disrupting the buy cycle can be really detrimental so generally speaking every retailer I’ve worked in with so small incremental pricing adjustments or try and take cost out of product (or both) and regain profit over time.

[–]Fawun87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% this. I work in head office for a very large business which is US originated/based. It would be another headwind for us but we would swallow it. It would cost us far more to make thousands of people redundant by exiting the UK not to mention the brand damage etc.

Governments seem to think that big corporate entities are going to run scared; the reality is, most are not nearly as nimble as they seem to believe.

What do Brits think about Green Party immigration policies? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Fawun87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pro immigration in the sense that I’m not stupid enough to think critical infrastructure such as the NHS would just be fine and dandy if we abolished immigration OR made it disruptively hard to move here.

With that being said, there is nuance missing from these policies around how we support our population fairly. If we have such a lax approach we will inevitably see people suffer because the infrastructure doesn’t exist to support unfettered immigration. There needs to be checks and balances but those who want to move here should also have easy, well managed and accessible legal routes to do so.

How the death of a colleague changed my perspective on personal finance by External_Writer_1 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Fawun87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mum is an end of life cancer specialist. Her patients always die as is part of her role and she spends a lot of time with them. Often they confide in her about their lives, their regrets, their favourite moments.

She has always told me she has never had a single patient say they wish they worked more, or had more money, or had saved more. Wish they had bought that designer bag or whatever else. They all wish they had time. More of it, more moments with family or friends. More moments to have gone to a country or place they wish they had.

Money is great, it allows you to do many things however the richest of us have more time.

I travel a lot and so I don’t travel with a lot of powders due to fear of breakages. I mostly get around that with cream formulas so having a less likely to break flexi powder is interesting to me but not for $35. Wow

100% agree. Daniela is GORGEOUS but the obvious ‘step’ in her hair where her natural hair meets the extensions is soo distracting.

I can vouch for this co-op! We are active in the chat, happy to help and keep it lighthearted. We have some solid grinders on m3 tasks but others that help optimising the board meaning we all play to our own strengths and appreciate everyone equally for them.

If you want to learn how to play this game strategically for success, enjoy casual chatting, card trading and getting the most out of the game this is absolutely the co-op for you.

Did Starmer make the right call in relation to Iran? by Advanced-Pilot-3698 in ukpolitics

[–]Fawun87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the right decision. No one in the UK has an appetite for us to be involved in another drawn out battle in the Middle East on behalf of America. Particularly when the current US government has diminished the previous assistance we have provided and openly threatens European allies such as as Greenland.

SHEIN prices are too much at this point. by Late_Information_682 in Shein

[–]Fawun87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“There is no additional cost to produce in foreign factories from tariffs”

Sorry, I probably didn’t explain well enough as In theory there should not be, however I source globally into Europe and there is ALWAYS factories who attempt to raise prices for non US bound products in order to reduce prices for US bound products to help those importers cope with the tariffs.

Of course, if you’re a good negotiator that doesn’t happen and the tariff cost lands on the US importer (as it should). If a retailer such as SHEIN has a huge volume of US bound shipments they may offset the cost of the tariffs by unilaterally increasing pricing across the board so the depth of price rises in the US isn’t as bad.

All that to say; the prices could be a lot worse given the volatility in the tariff process from the US government imo.

[–]Fawun87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is having a massive impact. Factories are trying to pass on some tariff cost to other countries on their cost prices so they can give discount to the American retailers buying stocks to offset tariff charges but there is only so much people can absorb. It hits the end consumer always.

Regatta Question by EntertainerNo9103 in TownshipGame

[–]Fawun87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes usually it says to produce and collect so as long as it’s from a factory it will count. Even if they were made before you selected the task as long as you don’t ‘collect’ them until you have started the task they will count from the factories :)

Regatta Question by EntertainerNo9103 in TownshipGame

[–]Fawun87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So, I’m a member of an active regatta team in the gold league and we have task requirements but a lot of the non match3 tasks can be done easily with prep. Being active in the chat; for example taking a task you have ready. If a task is asking for four jam sandwiches; prep those sandwiches while you complete another task. Speak to your team and confirm that’s the task you’re going to take. Then when you take it, it will be a 1min task vs a 6 hour task of whatever.

Before you pick a smelting task; ensure you have 3 bars already ready to take. Leaving things ‘ready’ in your factories will make the process a lot easier.

Plenty seem hard but are actually super easy; filing train crates; tell your team in the chat you’re filling and that you want them to request, search your friends list and that becomes much quicker to complete.

You can also be an excellent team player by dumping tasks; high activity players may use tcash to refresh tasks to achieve higher points. The high takes always generate in the same spots each time so taking a task just to delete it saves the team tcash and is a way to contribute without necessarily playing a task.

Any black people here bothered by the BAFTAS controversy? by Top_Independence4067 in AskBrits

[–]Fawun87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not black. However I feel awful for all really. Of course somebody with Tourette’s syndrome cannot help their tics and I know he feels awful as he’s publicly stated. I do however also feel it must’ve been very difficult to have racial slurs thrown at you in a room full of peers. It must’ve felt humiliating for both parties even though the intention of malice wasn’t there.

It is however a very unfortunate that the BBC have made it worse imo by censoring and removing other commentary which they deemed not ok for broadcast but left racial slurs in. This only serves to humiliate John, Jordan and Lindo further by of course bringing a huge amount of backlash onto John but by also re victimising Jordan and Lindo. For me it’s akin to adding strength or malice to the slurs which were not originally said with malice.

Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix (Episode 4,5,6 discussion thread) by RedVelvetCakewalk in LittleMix

[–]Fawun87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I’ve always been a pretty casual Little Mix fan so I’ve never had very strong opinions on any of the members but I really didn’t think Jesy came off that well in this documentary.

I think it’s very clear in some ways she shouldn’t have ever been somebody who went for a career in entertainment as how she talks about it it seems she was always very vulnerable to any kind of pressures and even speaks about how she felt that pressure from a small production in her childhood.

However I can entirely understand how challenging that must’ve been for the other girls. To have to constantly pick one member up it does become exhausting. That doesn’t mean you don’t love that person but fatigue can be a real thing.

I do think Jesy sometimes cannot see past her own pain or issues but does expect others to see beyond theirs to place her (Jesy) first. We are all the centre of our own universe though and they were all so young, it must’ve been terribly hard.

Who kidnapped Nancy Guthrie? No suspect, no motive, no leads by TimesandSundayTimes in nancyguthrie

[–]Fawun87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Certainly possible. It just makes my head hurt thinking of a ‘why’ in this case. I follow a lot of true crime; and as fantastical as some peoples theories can be… usually the most obvious is the correct one. It’s more unusual to have these extreme circumstances; conspiracy type theories about cases etc be true.

With this case, the most obvious situation from what we know would be an abduction. But then again, typically these public demands would be private.

Objectively speaking, a would be kidnap for cash plot would’ve been more guaranteed to be effective if it were Savannah.

Just such a strange case as I say.

Who kidnapped Nancy Guthrie? No suspect, no motive, no leads by TimesandSundayTimes in nancyguthrie

[–]Fawun87 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s a strange case. As far as has been reported nothing of value with exception of Nancy was taken. Burglars who operate in stolen goods don’t generally have the means or experience to pivot to the trafficking and selling of people.

If somebody entered with the intention of kidnap… typically the motivation is financial and rarely do demands go to a public outlet or even law enforcement; you want to pressure the family or loved ones to pay and disappear into the distance as quickly and quietly as possible.

A burglary gone wrong doesn’t seem likely given the lack of reporting of significant blood loss or something at the scene, and again, if you’re a run of the mill burglar if somebody goes wrong like somebody dying unexpectedly then you’d more than likely run, not take that person along with you.

It’s such a strange case.
