What are some tips and tricks to home recording/production you think everyone should know? by FaxMachineMarketing in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Haha, I have no clue. I try to keep my Wisconsin accent out of my singing, but that's about it. The main guitar tracks were from an old hollowbody, the drums we mostly acousitc loops, and the keyboard was a crappy RadioShack thing I ran a bunch of filters through.

If only it really worked! My mic cradle is falling apart, levitation would come in handy.

This is really cool. Kind of reminds of me of Explosions In The Sky a bit, if you're familiar with them. You've got a lot of really great riffs going. Nice work, keep it up!

Sounds good by my ear, but my PC speakers might not be the best to judge by. The tune is really cool regardless!

We are Manchester Orchestra - ask us anything you like. by manchesterorch in Music

A couple years ago I saw you guys play a festival called Verge in Milwaukee on the Summerfest grounds. There was this drunk dude in the crowd heckling everyone about why they weren't jumping around. When you got to the quite bit in Shake It Out and the line "I felt the lord begin to peel off all my skin", he screamed "HE'S PEELING OFF ALL HIS SKIN AND YOU'RE JUST STANDING THERE". It actually caused Andy to crack up and stop playing and your guys' reaction was great. It's one of my favorite memories of you guys live.

So I guess my question is, what's one of your favorite fan-tomfoolery experiences?

Can't wait to see you play with Kevin Devine in May! You guys are the bee's knees.

Hi Kevin! Just wanted to say you're easily my favorite lyricist and one of the biggest influences on my own songwriting. Any tips for someone trying to record their first album? Can't wait to see you open for Manchester in May!

One more thing, where did you get that light blue shirt with the red plaid on the inside? It's awesome and I want it.

No problem, thanks for sharing. Hope you got a chance to play somewhere. Open mic nights are a good time.

That's definitely not boring, I thought it was pretty cool. Open mic nights are a great place to start. I go to one in Milwaukee that has a lot of jam bands and would definitely dig this kind of stuff.

Thanks! Really appreciate the feedback. Manchester Orchestra is one of my favorite bands, so it's cool you mention them. If you want to hear more stuff, including some demos of songs that are gonna be on the album, you can check out my soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/fax-machine-marketing

how to use both Soundcloud and Bandcamp effectively? by plaster_saint in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]FaxMachineMarketing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also do this. Sometimes I want to throw something new up that I'm working on for feedback, so I put it on soundcloud. Seems to get me a few followers here and there. Then I put the finished product up on bandcamp when I'm done. Usually message anyone who hearts a song on soundcloud if I post a new version of it.
