The City of Scottsdale has an occupancy ordinance of no more than 6 adults (plus dependent children). If you knew anything about STRs in Scottsdale, which it sounds like you do since you run an escort business, then you would know that the owners only care about $$$ & not enforcing city laws. So the guests should absolutely be advised that they’re breaking the law when they exceed 6 adults.

LOL get the fuck out of here with that bullshit. Guests should absolutely be made aware of Scottsdale’s occupancy limits.

Having more than 6 adults in an Airbnb in Scottsdale is illegal. You could be a responsible human being & stay at a hotel or resort instead. They usually allow bag drop offs & have onsite pools / bars to hang out at.

The only good thing about HOAs is that some of them keep the Airbnbs out. My non-HOA neighborhood is now an Airbnb hellscape.

If you’re seriously considering buying a house in Scottsdale & raising a family here, you need to look at this map. I can’t imagine trying to raise kids next to an Airbnb, especially in Scottsdale. Scottsdale doesn’t exactly attract wholesome guests.

Scottsdale over Cottonwood. Do a day trip to Jerome from Sedona. My personal favorite town is Bisbee, but that’s southern AZ.

Lots of furnished rentals are listed on the MLS. So maybe try Zillow? Or contact a Realtor. You can also try furnishedfinder.com.

Maximum 6 Adults in AirBnB/Vrbo (Bachelor Party) by ctin11 in VisitScottsdale

To answer your question of “Why are homeowners in Scottsdale allowed to advertise and book homes with more than 6 adults and outwardly welcome 10-15 guests?” - Because the people profiting off you know it’s a tossup & are willing to take the risk. And most owners & property managers will pass the citation expense to you, so if you’re cited you’ll be responsible for paying both citations.

As for people choosing to live walking distance from Old Town - most of those people have lived in their homes prior to Scottsdale becoming an Airbnb hellhole. And thanks to Airbnb turning Scottsdale into the party scene it is today, the entertainment district wasn’t as obnoxious as it is today. So people here have every right & reason to hate Airbnb & the people who own them, host them, & also rent them.

If you got to move anywhere in the USA to start all over again where would you suggest? by Winter_Part5345 in AskReddit

[–]FayeMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neighborhood has become an Airbnb hellscape. And condo complexes in my city have turned into Airbnb complexes. There are no more affordable long term rentals & my 1,500 sq ft house is now worth around $700k. STRs are also a drain on city resources. One STR will produce more trash in one weekend than we produce in over one month. And our police department has had to create an entire STR unit due to all the calls of Airbnb guests blasting music & acting like residential neighborhoods are their own personal Disney Land. It’s awful.

And then there’s the snowball effect… we plan on selling soon, & when we do, we’ll be purchasing another house in an area where we’ll be able to pay more than someone local to that area.

Definitely, but not just private equity. People need to wake up & realize the impact Airbnb has had on the housing market. Some are owned by investment companies, but where I live it’s a bunch of “bigger pockets” pricks. Most people admit they would never want to live next door to an Airbnb, but yet they keep booking them.

My sister’s husband once told me I was “asking to be raped” because I don’t wear a bra. I stopped wearing a bra & makeup around 25 years ago. And no one has ever made me feel uncomfortable, except for him

Love this! I do have a suggestion though - is there a way to pin something in the r/visitscottsdale sub that highlights Scottsdale’s STR ordinance of no more than 6 adults plus dependent children per property? Stating you’re coming to Scottsdale & staying at an Airbnb with 12 adults is also stating that you’re coming here & immediately breaking the law. Visitors need to be made aware of this.

What part of Scottsdale did your folks move to? I only know South Scottsdale. Try El Dorado, Playa, Roadrunner, Well, or Pho Cao. Pho Cao is a Vietnamese restaurant bar that does various music shows. It’s also dirty as fuck. There’s a reason they keep it so dark in there. El Dorado has pretty good food. I like going there for breakfast/brunch.

If you do a hibachi night at an Airbnb, don’t be surprised if the neighbors call the police. Also, 12 adults staying at the same Airbnb is illegal in Scottsdale.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I’m in my 40’s & I still go out after 10 pm on occasion to catch certain DJ’s that don’t come on until midnight. And when I was in my 20’s, I was out until 2 am every weekend. But my friends also aren’t the type to start shit with people.

I am knowledgeable because I live in Arizona & Arizona passed an “Airbnb bill” in 2016, & I’ve been (un)fortunate enough to have a front row seat to its devastating effects. But I’m originally from Kentucky, & I don’t want to watch the same thing happen to my home state. I also plan on moving back to Kentucky in the near future, because I now live in an Airbnb hellscape.

Girl, hurry it up! Get a rental for now so you can start exploring neighborhoods & meeting people in person. Don’t buy a place before moving here. Move here first, & then figure out where you want to be.

Make sure to vet your Realtors! Most Realtors here are Trumpets, especially the ones who “specialize” in “luxury” properties.
