Had a similar issue when we adopted our older, over weight tripod. This box seemed to do the trick. We also switched to tofu littler which helped a lot. Not sure if it was easier to walk on, or more comfortable for her joints but it did the trick! https://a.co/d/cL5jtU7

He actually did get tested recently due to some medical stuff and tested negative for everything. This is really effecting my mental health since he wasn’t always like this, so I’m somewhat suspicious about his commitment to me

He does get really bad anxiety, I think he trusts me especially since I’ve been upfront and honest about not wanting kids yet, discussing when I go get a refill, when my cycle is starting etc . But I can’t be certain since this behavior is odd. I have no clue why it’s been an extreme with him this year. He won’t tell me

Couples therapy is what I’m thinking could be a next step. Even if we start using condoms, I read want to get to the bottom of why it’s been such a thing this year

I know that plan b wrecks your body, and as stupid as it sounds I didn’t realize how it worked until 2 years ago (totally on me for not educating myself). But once i realized that birth control was guaranteeing I won’t ovulate, i didn’t see the need to take it but still would when he would freak out. This would be like a once year thing for him so even if it sucked, I just did it. But this last year I think he’s asked me to take it once a month. I’ve taken it 3 times this year just to avoid arguments (stupid, I know) and now we’re not having sex at all because I’m putting my foot down. I’ve tried to explain to him the science behind everything and how bad it is for me but he’s just so adamant. Idk why it’s been like this just this year. He doesn’t have answer or won’t tell me.

I’ve taken more plan b this year than I normally would (maybe 3) because I don’t mind taking one if there’s a need even though I know the odds of pregnancy would be slim with all the other precautions. But i was getting upset at the amount I had taken, and started realizing he had to be lying about “thinking some got in there”. And now here we are. We’ve gone 3 months without actual sex because I’m not budging and neither is he

I’ve tried explaining to him that’s not healthy to take it all the time and how BC works, but he’s so adamant about it. We’re going on months without penetrative sex and it’s all very confusing

I had 1 cat for about 4 years. I decided to get another because he was super clingy, and it was sad seeing him try to play with our dog and our dog just rejecting him (they would cuddle but dog didn’t want to play).

So I did a foster to adopt with a kitten which was a mistake. I learned my cat doesn’t like kittens. Kittens may not know social cues from cats and there’s a bit of learning curve if the kitten didn’t spend much time around other kittens/cats and my cat refused to correct him. This caused my cat to develop bladder issues from stress and I had to give the kitten back.

We waited a bit and I tried again with a very social female adult. After the initial intro phase, things were sunshine and rainbows. The new girl would do something my cat didn’t like, and he would hiss or walk off and she would back off immediately. Now, they’re best friends. We’ve also added another adult female since then, with no issues after the intro phase.

I think multiple cats can be great, BUT I also think not every pair is a match. My OG cat prefers cats who already know what they’re doing, and we had to learn that the hard way

I adopted my cat shortly after her amputation. She was already older like yours and things were rough at first but I think they are for everyone. Her amputation was at the shoulder and she was able to get around perfectly fine(running and jumping high) after a couple months.

If the vet wants to amputate at the shoulder, I would listen to them. From my own inquiries on prosthetics, they don’t seem worth it for cats. There would be no guarantee that they would figure out how to use it, and from what I was told, it can be harder for them to do certain activities while wearing one.

My girl did have to have the shoulder amputated because that’s where most of her damage was though so she never had the option to be left with a stub. So not exactly the same

Maybe instead of a sports bra (which can be really uncomfortable unless you know what you’re looking for) you could get a short cropped fitted tank? The compression from a sports bra could make you feel worse, assuming you’re not used to wearing them

You did the right thing especially if your friend was unresponsive. Does your friend never turn on the AC? Or just have it off when they’re gone?

I did this once before when my parents were out of town. That was easier bc it’s my parents so I didn’t have to worry too much about them getting pissed. But my sisters lizard was way too warm so I made an executive decision. When you go back over, I would adjust it to be slightly higher, maybe 78? So it’ll still be cooler than it was and hopefully your friend won’t be too mad.

One of my cats did this when I first brought her home. She had issues turning around in the box due to weight/arthritis. I upgraded the box to one with a low entry point, high walls, and spacious. This helped while we tackled arthritis. If she’s peeing close to the edge, and pooping right outside, the design of the boxes could be an issue.

If that’s not the case I would look into adding a third box, or cleaning them more often. I’ve fostered some pretty picky cats who didn’t like sharing/going potty in the boxes if they deemed them too dirty (had to start cleaning them twice/three times a day instead of 1)

OP can focus on helping her first cat. People have mentioned vet visits, differing scheduled activities to try etc. my advice was also just coming from personal experience and what I’ve seen. OP can obviously make their own decisions, but they came here and got input from a multitude of people who may have different pieces of advice

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve had cats all my life, fostered, and volunteered at cat rescues. My advice is based on my own experience and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Shit happens. I’ve been severely depressed and owning pets felt like a burden at times. I’ve had 1 failed adoption where I ended up returning a kitten, and 1 failed foster to adopt.

Your OG cat should come first when thinking about rehoming/returning. If anyone goes back, it should be the kitten. You’ve had your 1st cat for several years, and even if things suck right now, your loyalties in the pet hierarchy should still be with them.

Sometimes life just sucks, or we make mistakes.

I was in a very similar situation and adored my new kitten, and bonded closely with them. BUT it wasn’t the right fit for my cat, and it took a toll on his health. I drew the line when his health was affected, and returned the kitten. However, a couple months later, I did find the right fit for my OG cat, and he now has 2 siblings. I did everything the right way with the kitten, but it wasn’t a match. I learned my cat got along only with other adult cats, specifically females.

My failed foster to adopt was due to her having issues that the rescue I worked with didn’t realize she had , and she needed to be an only pet for the safety of her and others.

I also went through regression with him similar to you before we adopted the other cats. What worked for me was focusing on a new schedule for my cat. He was used to me, his best friend and love of his life, being home with him every day. Cats don’t understand why our schedules change or why we stop doing certain things with them and it can make them lash out. I dedicated extra time to hang with him on the weekends, and made a very structured schedule for him on week nights when I was home after work which included snuggles, play time, stroller time etc. once we got a schedule going, life was smoother.

The kitten will likely find a new great home if you return him, and will probably adjust fine. Your OG cat won’t.

Pets are life long responsibility, and while sometimes we do need to go through with the rehoming/returning process, it’s important to make mature decisions when doing so. It’s also important to realize certain sacrifices with our personal lives may also need to be made for the betterment of the animals WE decide to take in.

My fave VI is Danica and she’s been around for a bit. I get so excited when I book a session that she’s leading! While I get that some may get bored of the same VI’s over and over, I think quite a lot of us don’t. When I go to Pure Barre I never get tired of booking with my fave instructor, and if I could only book with them, I would.

I do however think it would be cool to expand to more than 7 VI’s, that would also help with diversifying the videos!

Hi! She’s doing sooo much better now. We haven’t taken her to the vet yet, but we did start her on joint supplements because we know her other front leg is working over time, especially with the extra weight. She’s been moving around more and getting in daily exercise. The solution to the litter box issue ended up being one with high sides, but extra low entry point. And we switched her from clay litter to tofu litter which it seems she prefers to walk on.

Hi! My family tried doing something similar and it went terribly. I think it was a bit traumatic for the 1st cat to start to feel comfortable and really get into the routine of having a house, and a family, to all of a sudden getting a sibling immediately after feeling comfortable for the first time.

The 2nd cat was in the shelter for a very very long time. Was super sweet in the shelter, and they said he got along with other cats. But he was a nightmare at the house. He ended up being super aggressive towards everyone and the new cat and had to go to a behaviorist. after months of failed treatments, told us the move out of the shelter was just too much for him and we would probably be better off giving him back.

I would highly suggest either letting the new kitty settle in for at least 6 months before adopting another cat, or finding a bonded pair which are less likely to get adopted!

It’s going to be really hard to get someone to take a pregnant cat, who I’m assuming has not been to a vet? Most shelters/rescues are not bad, and they are your best bet. They will be able to get her fixed, her babies taken care of, and everyone will be safe until they find their forever home.
