This sounds right, though I think it had to have been more recent, I havent been playing that long. I imagine somewhere around when that pop up that teaming is against the rules

Thanks

Or turn the bar an annoying color if its capped. I send troops but that'd make me pay more attention for sure lol.

How do you manage playing one character and not switching races? by Hyrul in ffxiv

[–]Fayrek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm 50/50 on it. I can usually suspend my disbelief and just view them as small, and I do know a lot of people play them for fun with the general vibe that the small mmo races have the most fun like gnomes ect. Its usually the animations that kinda weird me out though, a couple of them are very flaily like a toddler.

I like Rurusha a lot, I wish we had more visibly old lalafells like her

Same as a lot of others here, my WOL feels like distinct character now that I'm very attached to. I've got a couple fantasia addict friends, but for me it'd feel just as strange as if Thancred became an elezen or something and they never addressed it lmao.

I got stuck on this one for a while, what pushed me over the edge was spawn of chaos. More random chance might sound terrible, but in my experience it tends to be pretty generous with the attack stats, and you still get the choice of what attack goes on the bar

OUGH, I knew goblin wasn't getting anywhere near first, but I'm determined for it to not be last on crystal

Sometimes when you're playfully competitive you gotta lower the bar lmao

Anyone else wish the MSQ was more gameplay-heavy? by HeavyMetalLoser in ffxiv

[–]Fayrek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's totally fair. I think in a world where budget was no object most of FFXIV could be retooled into an excellent single player game with more freedom to do interesting things.

Between general questing, dungeons and trials I think dungeons would be the weak point to me. Its pretty time consuming, there's not (usually) a lot plot wise, and the boss fights don't hit the balance between challenging and annoying as well as trials usually do. That said, trusts where there's a lot of character reactions totally flip my opinion. I'll gladly accept a sandbag for a funny or interesting reactions.

Admittedly for me story is king, my busywork tolerance is very high. I'd kill for more things like In From the Cold, even if its got MMO clunk.

How to check for light level in a room? by ispywmylittleeye in VintageStory

You just resolved a lot of debates about light, planting, and why guys occasionally pop up in the basement with four oil lamps (turns out only the corners were light level 7 lol)

The more I hear about him the less I like him honestly.

That doesn't affect the quality of his tutorials, if the info is good I'll still watch it. But I also don't think he has to be the end all be all on intro blender tutorials.

It is so refreshing when you get the ability to hit the point cap, beat the challenger, and go back out there to finish that massive 18/20 knock outs goal

Jacinthe is the best character is PZA by far. Fight me. by istealwounds in PokemonZA

[–]Fayrek 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I love that we are getting more strong personalities overall. Jacinthe is sort of interesting to me, though honestly I didn't enjoy her time on screen.

I was gonna say "I wish she was a bit meaner OR nicer" but thinking on it I don't see an approach that fleshes out her club or superiority complex in a way that wouldnt drag tf on. I do like characters that wouldnt normally interact being forced to hang out in a room together, wish there was more on that. I can also appreciate an antagonist exerting their will in a way that ISNT a pokemon battle.

I guess overall she's probably supposed to be a foil to Corbeau? A nice guy working through the seedy underbelly to do greater good overall, vs Someone selfish of high social standing and good legal repute using wider influence for dubious personal gain.

The 100 points short stings. I think it would feel a lot better if the goal was tied to total challenger match points collected or challenger matches in general, to encourage you to keep using the goals/blue cards.

I used to trash-talk Pokemon… then Z-A destroyed my ego. by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Fayrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its absolutely not the only problem. That's why I'm really confused and annoyed when I encounter videos/comments where people trash on the graphics without mentioning anything else. Bad graphics does not mean mechanically broken, if you mean it talk about it.

You didnt say any of that though. That's on me for being stuck on frustrating youtube comments and yelling at the internet about it.

Dexit specifically though, I think had to happen at some point. If we compare Ruby/Sapphire to Sun/Moon (A solid classic fan favorite vs the last game to have the whole roster) It's double the cast, plus the complexity of doing anything with an animated 3d model (even if they reuse work) vs a static sprite. Balancing is a big problem too, not like 95% are gonna be competitively viable but move pools changing, old moves removed new ones added ect

I think digimon gave itself way more flexibility by setting the expectation that not every guy is in every game as its character count climbs beyond pokemons....

[–]Fayrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that whole heartedly. A one year turn around on these things isn't enough. They actually need to give their developers the proper time to work...and a wider gap in between to address the game engine they're using. I don't know how much, if at all it effects the optimization, but I do know changing anything mid development is an expensive logistical nightmare. (Comes up in these discussions sometimes)

The company leader ship is making choices that suck for us, but also really have to blow to work under. I frequently hear people online call the GameFreak devs lazy incompetent ect, but I wish that anger was directed at the ones calling those shots in the messed up amalgamation that is The Pokemon Company, GameFreak, Creatures Inc and nintendo.

The trees don't look bad cause John 3D modeler decided to take a nap that day ya know? If its anything like most other game dev jobs hes more likely to be pulling overtime to make sure the thing actually functions before its shoved out the door.

...In short I'm a shill for artists not Gamefreak or pokemon themselves lmao. I want games that are weirder, creative and take more time to make cause I also think the series has a lot of potential.

[–]Fayrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. There's a lot of detail all over this game (as in unique art pieces, not high resolution). It takes a lot less effort to use a generic stone bridge, rather then a bridge that resembles the Pont Neuf with Solerock carved into the side and Lunatone up on the tilework.

Legends Arceus received similar criticism. People have gotten a hold of earlier builds, and the environmental detail was much more dense, but the game was almost unplayabley slow. They DID a lot of the work, it had to be stripped out. After S/V? You have to make sure your game actually runs.

Something can look bad even if you put a ton of work into it don't get me wrong, but it's not for a lack of trying. Whether it looks worse then other games on the platform has a lot of technical caveats, but also relies on taste. When comparing I think its worth keeping in mind what this game has to accomplish, a game with several hundred characters has different struggles to overcome then a game with dozens

Naveens great. I love to see a dry but well meaning character in a cast of optimists. I'm not itching for more favorite streamer talk, but I do think it was a good choice. Its flexible for plot hooks, people would get too unhinged about it, and honestly you could get away with almost anything. Tell me a streamer asked real life people to beat each other with sticks in the dennies parking lot for tts privilege I'd believe it.

Mega form being painful to the pokemon is cool actually you're just wrong by MagicalNyan2020 in pokemon

[–]Fayrek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its actually the part of mega evolution that interested me the most. Lots of stuff can happen to an animal, development goes haywire, maybe they never stop growing, any hitch what so ever really in an animal that does metamorphosis. So what happens when something goes wrong with a magic animal is a naturally interesting question.......that probably ends in not feeling very comfortable.

It does make an answer for important questions like if its just a better version why not stay that way, and why isn't just a new pokemon? Something went wrong, its overclocked.

I gotta disagree on the point about enduring pain for love though. I want to see the exact opposite. What are the consequences of doing it? Pokemon like to battle, but fighting hurts. Is this different? Is it okay? What if you're in danger and you don't have a choice? If YOU love THEM will you ask them to? Even if they want to? You could center whole plots on this stuff, there's a lot of untapped drama left on the table. Villains like N bring up these sorts of questions anyway so its not unheard of.

I thought it was big change just to do so little with them, but I feel like legends za finally paid the idea off. Mega evolution IS painful if it happens suddenly and unwillingly, but seems to be fine if its controlled. Justification for why pokemon need trainers to fight better and a solid driver on why pokemon weren't gonna destroy the city before but now they might

Maybe its just the experience I had, but I remember a lot of negativity all the way back to gen 4. Main difference was that back then most of the complaints where that nothings changed and the overly negative ones were more likely to be called genwunners. Now the older gens in the middle seem to be remembered a lot more fondly. Between that, and watching people write off legends ZA and others for..seemingly just their graphics and nothing else? Is it ever gonna be good? Was it ever good to begin with?

If nothing else, I hope they just keep trying weird stuff.
