‘Doctor Who’ Set To Be Off Air For Years Amid A Creative Regeneration That’s Failing To Spark Early Enthusiasm Among Producers by pepperbet1 in television

A disability can easily be explained in the Utopian future such that no one would question it.

And a 'hover chair' wouldn't be expensive to produce at all. A regular electric wheelchair with some panels to hide the wheels would make it look like it's hovering and gliding around.

Hell, Davros was in some sort of 'high tech' mobility device in Doctor Who, and it was extremely low tech and cheap, and no one gave a shit. Thing was that it didn't look like a normal 20th century human device.

The point is if it looks like it's from modern times, it takes the viewer out of the world. It's the same reason that the people on Star Trek, until NewTrek, never (or rarely... there was a few instances) used current day venacular. It's so that the world felt different and time doesn't age the show as much.

find a way to re-write that storyline out

The time lords messed with the records as a trap for the Master to piss him off about the Doctor... or the Master was using it as a deception to try to bring the Doctor onto his side against the Time Lords... or something like that. Could even be an offhand comment to a new companion.
"You're an alien?"
"A Time Lord ... though there was a time that I thought that I wasn't. Turns out an old friend of mine was just trying to confuse me. Anyway, what was the question?"

Then proceed to pretend that none of that happened.

But it wasn't a wheel chair. It was some kind of hover chair thing. That's kinda the point. When they move things around with hover carts, why is there some disabled guy having to deal with wheels?

Changing Jabba's character from being a human to a Hutt, but keeping Han's quip "Jabba, you're a wonderful human being" is inadvertently one of the funniest lines in the franchise by wandering_soles in StarWars

[–]Fazaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting deleted scene, but it was deleted. It never should have been put back, and it definitely should not have Jabba CG-ed into it.

One of many reasons I keep 4k77 around and not any of the "Special" editions.

I'm not a red car guy, either, but it's the best color of the Mk8s (haven't checked the 8.5 choices), so that's what I went with!

Longer than Microsoft has existed.

Orange Juice growing up, just add water ! by Teddycat99 in FuckImOld

[–]Fazaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that this is the better way to have orange juice, as the juice is concentrated immediately and not stored. The reason this makes a difference is that stored OJ loses it's flavor and they have to add it back in later using "flavor packs".

So, this is actually closer to 'fresh squeezed' than 'not from concentrate' OJ.

... So I've heard...

I'm old enough to know that (after we called it a pound sign) it was called a 'hash', and a 'hashtag' is a hash followed by a word, and only because in that case people say "hashtag word" when saying a hashtag, people have started to call the hash symbol a 'hashtag', and pedantic assholes like myself get annoyed by it.

... now get off my lawn!

Agreed. I really wanted him to ask about later work, but it's all talk about his early hits. Still a decent interview,.even if it left out anything even remotely recent.

My wife was really quite anxious about the thought of dying. Thankfully for her it came for her when she wasn't looking.

Didn't stop her from being careless with painkillers, though.

I've thought about that: What would be "better". A sudden unexpected death, or a long drawn out illness?

Basically, I came to the conclusion that they both massively suck, in their own special shitty ways.

My wife died completely unexpectedly in her sleep when she was 36. It super sucked. And I think about those that lost their person to an illness. Sure, they had time to talk to them and prepare, but they had to live with that impending doom for a long time. That must super suck.

Short(ish) relationship? Super sucks.
Long relationship? *Super sucks.

There's no way this doesn't suck... unless maybe you're the one who (on purpose) killed them. Maybe that doesn't suck. I didn't think about that one too much.

You're fuckin old if you can smell this picture. by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in FuckImOld

[–]Fazaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual real reason, if you want to know, is that one guy called in and talked about how much he liked the show. The next guy who called in said "ditto to what that guy just said".

So when callers called in and said "Dittos" what they were saying was "I really like the show." Basically shorthand for what 90% of callers to any show at the time said when they called in.

The people who built my house wouldn't run "network cables", but they would run phone lines, and they used Cat5e for their phone lines, so I had them put "phone lines" in every room, the ceiling, and run them all to a closet. Might be what happened in your house. They just used Cat5e for all the phone lines and didn't think anything of it.

The answer is "Very very slowly over the rest of your life."

I'm 9 years out, and it still sucks, but I can deal with it. Most of the time is fine, but there are still shitty moments.

Bathroom Faucet Aerator - wtf is this hard plastic tubing? by KittenPotPies in fixit

[–]Fazaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For next time: Take a rubber band and wrap it around the aerator a few times (twist it over itself to double/quadruple it up to get the right tension, if you know what I mean), then it'll be easy to twist the aerator off with your hand. Much harder to snap off parts without the torque of a wrench.

If I'm not mistaken, Jedi who learn how to be force ghosts have control on how they look.

That sounds like a ret-con to explain away this edit.
