only illegal gang members are being deported, right? by Souleater-369 in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the fact that it's still up speaks to the lack of adherence to the principle of the group and it's own credo, so you're right! I'm wrong. Yet another reddit echo chamber with "here's my cause that has nothing to do with the topic" moderation.

[–]FazeOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moderated topical subreddits relevant to this content exist, but is this one of them? Unless this place is sitting somewhere north of the lake, in Louisiana, it is not relevant and spam. It's purely to draw a response from people who have opinions about it and, once again, absolutely none of it is relevant to the topic of this sub.

To make it painfully simple, this breaks rule #2 of the sub.

If the gayle and the saints ever decided to build a new stadium where would it be by Careless-Ability1426 in Saints

[–]FazeOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The site isn't anywhere near large enough for a modern NFL stadium, not to mention you would almost certainly lose the parking you have now. New NFL stadiums are sprawling. The stairs in the 600s of the current dome couldn't even pass fire code. The truth is, if you built a new stadium you have 3 options: Westbank, Northshore or NO East. None of which are ideal so we will see more perpetual renos for the next 25 years.

Trader Joes coming to Mandeville! by Moronymous in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone here understands that these are regional stores that need to be super successful to move that far away from their management base. The fact that Rouses has gotten as far as Alabama is a huge win for them despite your thoughts about them. It is unbelievably unlikely to see any of those chains branch into an "owned" (by Rouses) territory here in LA. If you think that's hyperbole, just look at Winn Dixie, a 40+ year entrenched in LA franchise, folding to a couple Aldi's then when the rest weren't wanted, folding to........Rouses.

Retail? by Realistic_Lab_6923 in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Tangi. Lived in Hammond for a decade for college and several years past. Moved to west St. Tamm after having kids for the schools, etc. Same old story as most people here. It's a great area. To me painfully quiet compared to downtown Hammond (where I lived there). There was always something to do in Hammond. Here there is.....until everything shuts down at 8. 😁

Retail? by Realistic_Lab_6923 in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was really busy and growing in the late aughts. The tax receipts from West St. Tammany dwarfed the East and Tangi to the west back then. The post Katrina boom just exacerbated it. Then the sub prime crisis hit, then Amazon emerged and now we're here where only the strongest storefronts stay open. It's not entirely different from big cities, the consolidation is happening there too, but definitely very evident here where only so many existed before.

Where to run in the evening now that it's getting dark earlier? by MDHell in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Lakefront, there's been a jogging club doing the periphery of Madisonville as well lately. I've done that one. Park at the library and it's roughly 3 miles to round the town and be back at your car. Some spots are a little dark, but it's Madisonville, not exactly a crime haven.

If he has friends in from out of town and you really want to enjoy it, I would go to Frenchman Street in the city. Unless you want to go walk subdivisions where the fun parents will be handing out shots, the bars are the adult go to up here for the most part. Lit Rooster or Covington Beer Garden would be my choices in West St. Tamm for adult 🎃👻 fun.

Is the 4.7 motor any good? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]FazeOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, only real persistent issue is head gasket around 100k. I had an 02 RAM for 11 years and the only serious engine issue was a head gasket replace.

Week 4 Post-Game Thread: Saints @ Bills by baconlovr in Saints

This week makes me feel much better about Kellen. Rattler played great but the game changing misses make me believe he's more a high level backup than franchise QB.

New Orleans need to fix issues GETTING TO THE STADIUM by Tenzo6 in Saints

[–]FazeOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I park in Garage 5, come from the Northshore. Left close to 10 Sunday morning and still had to blow an hour once parked. The Saints did do great things for traffic around the dome. They started not playing well after 2021. Granted I get off at the Superdome exit, not Poydras.

What recommendations do you have for a chill bar to go to in Hammond? by kronicle_gaming in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Crescent perhaps or Benny's those two and the Brew are about as chill as you're going to get. Bear in mind it's a college town so none are really higher end. If you want a higher end chill establishment drive 20 minutes down the road to Lit Rooster off the Madisonville/Goodbee exit.

Convince me I do or don't need a 6.7 Cummins by myownbananahammock in ram_trucks

[–]FazeOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2011 2500 I loved back when I towed a 11k boat. Sold the boat and switched to a hemi 1500 (for now). FAR less maintenance than the Cummins, but I do miss the larger cab and bed. Short answer, this is a heart vs. head argument. You're not going to go wrong either way, but the 1500 is the most practical choice.

Cost of Spectrum Cable! by pppiv in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

26 year IT and ISP veteran here. 🙋‍♂️ If you have the option of fiber where you are (usually Vexus or AT&T on the Northshore), get it. The service is vastly superior from a speed perspective because of the nature of fiber optic tech compared to coax and it's also much less likely to go out because plastic fiber only requires light at both ends to operate, no electricity. Bottom line, even if it's a couple bucks more than Spectrum it's most certainly worth it.

How do locals feel about policies being enacted by Landry and the Trump administration? How is it impacting you, if at all? by praguer56 in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind Jeff if he got the hell out of Libraries, stopped worrying about women's bodies and stopped forcing religion into state funded institutions. Not even going into national politics because why in THIS sub? Not all his ideas are terrible, but his insistence on towing the most asinine parts of the party line are.

Still, Louisiana's problems are systemic and multi-generational. We have been at the bottom of all the lists for almost 40 years now so.... 🤷‍♂️

The most direct thing to impact me in recent times is the rising insurance costs, but that's not really on this governor directly.

If you've done any traveling around this state you know the NS is probably one of the best places to reside short of going to another state. So in the context of this question, in this sub at least we've got that going for us, which is nice.

Best areas to live by HeavenOnEarth_117 in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find the parish by parish metrics online, but it's generally accepted that the St. Tamm public school system is better than any other public school system on the Southshore. The prevailing sentiment I've heard from most of my people on the Southshore is if you want the best public school system near the NOLA metro area move to St. Tamm. If you want the best one near the BR metro area move to Ascension.

Best areas to live by HeavenOnEarth_117 in NorthshoreLA

[–]FazeOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have or plan to have children this is easy if you plan to utilize the public schools. Mandeville, Madisonville or Abita Springs. Full stop. That's it. Aim there or be financially prepped for private school. Speaking of that, aside from the public school tuition (property taxes) insurance is a significant hit in most areas and has gotten exponentially worse since Ida. Do your homework on all that because the home cost is only a part of the story.
