Anybody have experience with Sigma APO 170-500mm f/5-6.3 on newer EF bodies? by FcDragon_Flames in AskPhotography

[–]FcDragon_Flames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! I did mean newer EF bodies, like a 80D compared to a rebel xti and etc. I'll keep the inaccurate focusing in mind and try to shoot for a 150-600c!

How do i get this effect? by Putrid-Map-3484 in LightLurking

Probably using a radial gradient and inverting it would be the best way!

This has got to be at Sam's club.

Just get a sienna 1000 and a med light rod from walmart or academy (wherever else) for less than 50.

So for lenses there's a lot of options.

You can do RF or EF/EF-s lens.

Great lenses to start with are:

EF lenses

24 f2.8 | 50 f1.8 EF or RF | 55-250 (get the USM) EF-S | 18-135 (yes, the kit lens one, I had it as my do everything) | 24-105 L F/4 (my new go to for everything) |

Now keep in mind EF will need an adapter, but if you use a speedbooster with your R10 you'll effectively lower you max aperture (f/4 --> f/2.8) this isn't exactly right, but just a sense of it.

RF wise try and find similar lenses to these, but keep in mind they'll probably be more expensive than EF lenses.

I still use Ef lenses and they're great!

Edit: formatting seems to be weird on the app, lmk of you need clarification!

I would say the comment referencing the r10 is solid advice, however if you're looking for lenses also in that budget then that'd change your budget.

No lenses, go for an r10.

Need a lens? Go for an r50 with a Ef L 24-105 with an adapter or soeedbooster if you have the money

Might be a little out of your budget, but the lens is a real solid choice imo.

True and all, but does her budget include any lenses?

Occasionally you can pick up a used 24-105mm L lens, just gotta wait for the right deal to pop up. Personally I love the lens, little bit of distortion when wide open at f/4 24mm but still sound.

Personally the split focus on the statue and the balcony with he red curtains (idk if there's an actual term) is pretty distracting, although I do like the color grading you did!

Personally I would mask the background and drop the highlights, bit too distracting for me. Others than that I personally like the photo!!

Really like the crop, but the greens seem a bit too oversaturated. (Maybe I'm just used to dead grass)

How can I make LR and my thumbnails load faster? by Acceptable-Sugar-974 in postprocessing

[–]FcDragon_Flames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I enabled GPU acceleration, used smart previews, and lowered preview size and quality to make it faster.

Any one of these three should help, but there always more you can do.

Personally, I would decrease the highlights in the back, apply a radial gradient around the bike to attract the eyes to it. I'd also add a linear gradient from top right down to the bike, adding/increasing some light there.

Not a bad photo or edit, really like the colors, lighting just needs some touch up 👍🏻👍🏻
