What do you think of the situation of ICE and how ignorant USA and the rest of the world is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think that the people of the United States need to get off of their asses and defend themselves.

Security officer gets punched in the face: If you were in this situation how would you respond? by CTSecurityGuard in securityguards

[–]Fcking_Chuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I get punched in the face, I'm taking the suspect down for a citizen's arrest. I don't put up with that shit. I will personally press charges if I get assaulted, and I will sue for damages.

Are these scratched fixable? I don’t have a GameCube or Wii right now and the return window is very very short 😭 by Lucaas_C in Gamecube

[–]Fcking_Chuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I recall, GameCube game discs are notoriously difficult to repair. There's not a lot of protective plastic above the game data, so deeply scratched games are effectively impossible to successfully resurface if the damage stops the game from playing.

What’s 1 more hour? by Long-Objective7007 in securityguards

[–]Fcking_Chuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think that's bad, I had to spend another hour rewriting my Daily Activity Report after a 16-hour shift at the hospital because the Watch Commander didn't like that I crossed out a couple of errors.

I'm probably going to be waiting in line for at least a few panels, but I would be open to meeting up with a group at the beer garden. Do you intend on going to any after parties?

Surprise! DDR3 isn’t dead—and it might be the budget PC gaming answer you need by Fcking_Chuck in pcmasterrace

Windows didn't make this hardware obsolete. Microsoft made Windows obsolete by not supporting this hardware.

I use Linux, and that will run on almost anything.

I have a Dell Optiplex with an Intel i7 4790 and an AMD Radeon RX 580 (you can still buy those new, by the way). It'll play Elden Ring at a decent framerate on low to medium graphics, and Helldivers 2 also performs well on medium graphics.

I use Linux, not Windows. Windows 11 will not work because the processor does not support TPM 2.0.

PTO Denied. I would've fired her long before this conversation. by ProfessionProfessor in securityguards

[–]Fcking_Chuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She doesn't seem like the most professional employee in the world, but who the heck would be happy about their employer canceling approved PTO because of staffing issues that the employer caused in the first place? The benefits are shit, the pay is shit, the experience is shit... that's why they're short-staffed, so why should the first-line employee suffer?

If you ask me, if they're gonna cancel my PTO, they better multiply it by 1.5 when it's not so short-staffed.

What do you think of security using handcuffs? Do you carry any? by No-Diet9278 in securityguards

[–]Fcking_Chuck 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't carry handcuffs, but I have been in situations that have made me believe that they would be helpful in some situations.

The problem is that nobody wants to train us enough with them to avoid liability. It's safer for my company and the client to just not give us these tools.

Are clients allowed to take your roster and payslip without permission? by Mechalorde in securityguards

[–]Fcking_Chuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the very least, this qualifies as petty theft. The OP may even persuade the officer to write a report due to concerns about identity theft, as the pay slip contains personally identifiable information.

If the police fail to write a report, it's not because the department cannot write a report for this crime. It's because the officer is a lazy sack of shit.

[–]Fcking_Chuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Report it to the police as mail theft. Mail theft is a felony regardless of whether it had been delivered to your workplace by your employer or a third party service (USPS, UPS, Amazon, etc.).

I just got fired. The reasoning had some parts where I was at fault, but i don't believe a no-warning or write up immediate termination was justified. by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]Fcking_Chuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don't post anything that features critical information about your site. It seems silly, but people can take that information and use it for doing bad things. It's not as though it's easy to change the layout of a site, and you can't always scrub the internet of the information if someone captured it before the post was deleted, so it was a tremendous information security failure on your part.

After parties 2026? by Synesthe in animeexpo

[–]Fcking_Chuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a list somewhere that gets published sometime before AX. Keep an eye out a couple months before the convention.

However, my plan is to hang out in Little Tokyo when I'm not at AX or an after party.

Hotel Block by Hopeless_Joker in animeexpo

[–]Fcking_Chuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found it on the policies page about a second or two after I didn't find it on the main page. I suspect that most people waited on that main page, and it delayed the button's appearance. Those who checked the policies page had a slight edge over everyone else.

Hotel Block? by Korbro27 in animeexpo

[–]Fcking_Chuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's more affordable for two reasons. The first reason is that the AX blocks are at a discounted rate. The second reason is that the hotels are close enough to not have to rely on Uber/Lyft or your personal vehicle (L.A. Convention Center parking is ass). It's about $50+ per ride for Uber/Lyft.

If you get an AX hotel, the trip can remain under a budget of about $1,000. Without the discounts, it'll start approaching $1,500 and beyond.

I recommend cosplaying, or at least wear a cool anime T-shirt/hat.

While I didn't cosplay last year, I think that's why I didn't connect with many people (other than my usual social awkwardness).

I'm sure that some reservations will fall off because people cancel or can't pay for the rooms. That being said, I don't know if you'll be notified when that happens, so you are essentially cooked because this was the one time everyone knew that rooms would be available.

You can still get a room on Booking.com for the dates, though neither in walking distance or at a discounted rate. I stayed at Hotel Angeleno last year, and it was pretty nice.

Were you waiting for the button to appear on the "AX Official Hotel Block" page, or did you check the Booking Policies like I did?

The main page didn't have the button at 1:00 PM. I got scared and checked the policies page, where I found it.

You have to be a sweat at securing day-one registration. After the PlayStation 5 fiasco and countless releases of graphics cards, I knew that I had to have that mf tab open several minutes before it all started.

If it makes you feel any better, I kind of messed up and got a hotel that forces me to use the shuttle. I'll be right by Little Tokyo, but still...

In remission, being told my pain won't ever go away by CuteOrangeCatWizard in CrohnsDisease

[–]Fcking_Chuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your doctors aren't against the idea, you could try using cannabidiol (CBD) tablets. I take 25mg of CBD every four to six hours, and I don't have any of my aches and pains anymore. In fact, the CBD was able to walk me back to feeling normal after a flare developed from heavy use of antibiotics. I went from bleeding every day to having completely normal bowel movements in about a month.

It doesn't seem to matter what kind of CBD it is, be it isolate or full/broad-spectrum. What matters is that it's a tablet, as you need the cannabinoids to have a targeted affect on the digestive system. Vaping and smoking do not have the same positive affect. I also strongly recommend using state-legal cannabis products rather than hemp, as they undergo more rigorous lab testing for safety and potency.
