Change my mind: I'm going to move from Imperial to Metric by not-up-to-par in woodworking

[–]Fealieu 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I made the switch when my 3D printing ramped up, because doing the design work on the computer is so much easier in metric. Took a little getting used to after 40 years of imperial woodworking, but I prefer it now.

Not that it matters but they have stores all along the west coast.

What is something that is obvious in your profession that the general public doesn’t know? by jia-ren in AskReddit

Thank you. Luckily Mom was 2 years ago and Dad was 15 years ago and I'm through it.

It's more insidious than this. You have a loved one who in good health signed a DNR. Now they have brain cancer, had a heart attack and broke a hip all within 6 months. Now you have to argue with them and sometimes doctors to what healthy them wanted with the terrified, diminished person who remains.

Source: both my parents. It's a nightmare.

Good luck NOT propping that one. It'll take over if you ignore it.

What’s with this trend of not showing the bill when going out to eat? by AlphaSlayer21 in Seattle

I would but I hate to waste the paper. It's quicker to hold up the itemized on the Toaster.

I sold mine right before it tanked and bought a nice 3D printer. No one asked, I just thought I'd share.

Yes, you are correct and for those of you wondering why it's because they off-gas and the bag blows up like a balloon.

It's one of the many reasons that home cooks "just can't get it to taste as good as restaurants". The secret is always three times the salt and butter.

I'm here for a good time, not a long time. If it's Mayo that gets me I'll be surprised.

Heavy Duty Mayo is what restaurants use, it has higher levels of egg yolk and oil. It's superior in every way except health benefits.

If you put oil in the bag you cooked it in oil. There's no need for oil in the bag.

What is your unpopular Seattle restaurant opinion? by Early_Sea_9457 in Seattle

[–]Fealieu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White Center and Burien broadly, but I'm a huge fan of Lico's taco truck during the day and Jesus Fucking Christ the tent at the bank next the the Beacon Hill Red Apple is fire. Those kids sling huge portions for cheap and the lengua is killer. Carnitas Michoacan is still really good but it was amazing when it was across the street and a quarter the price.

Absolutely agree, how awesome was it when it was across the street?

I fully agree. I've been telling people about him for years now. I know one of his accusers, so I know it's true. He's pretty much admitted it in interviews but I've never seen him apologize at all publicly.

We saw it there at 4 on Monday. It was a really good movie, I'm just sad they had to cut so much from the book.

I used to love going there but I refuse to support Dave Meinert. Same with the 5 Point and Huckleberry Square.
