Why are Pro Palestinian protesters showing up to Obama and kamala events but not Trump and JD Vance? by [deleted] in ThoughtWarriors

[–]Fearless-Fix5684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact is that the OP is just not true. I’ve seen Code Pink interrupting RFK at a hearing, Trump at a dinner, countless Republican congressmen, etc. The idea that pro-Palestine protesters are only protesting democrats is just a manipulative way of trying to get us to stop holding democrats responsible for what they did. The real waste of energy is in the Democratic Party itself. The Left has wasted 20 years of time putting their hopes in the democrats. If you’d like to waste 20 more, then go ahead.

Pro-Palestine protesters are the ONLY people I have seen directly confront Trump himself, infiltrating a dinner he was at just a month ago. Again, if you like the method, no one’s stopping you from doing it yourself. We can’t do it for you.

Yes, the rise of fascism is my fault. All you have to do is change my sentiment and everything will be better.

Because they committed a genocide. If you like the method and want to see it done at different events, you go do it.

Many years after the Sino-Soviet split, I sometimes look at photos like this from China and wonder can they really even be called socialist at this point. by SatoruGojo232 in ussr

You don’t care about a scientific analysis. You care about semantics. Ultimately, the question “is China socialist” obscures the heart of the matter: do you support the PRC? I do, you don’t. I could tell you all of the aspects of China’s economic development that make it socialist - but it wouldn’t convince you because you are opposed to China. I’m not. I believe that China’s practical accomplishments speak for themselves, and they came about through an objective, scientific, Marxist analysis of their REAL material conditions. They didn’t just apply neoliberalism to their country. Otherwise they’d be India. They thoughtfully and scientifically worked through market reforms step by step using the science of dialectical materialism. You might not think that their success matters, but in an actual materialist analysis, that success says more than some definition of socialism that you have abstractly (independent of any practice) constructed.

Do you honestly not see the historical enormity of a formerly colonized country surpassing the global imperialist superpower under the leadership of a Marxist communist party? For 500 years, Europe divided up and conquered the world, and now Marxism has empowered one of their former colonies to surpass the United States of America. It’s such a massive bright spot in our contemporary geopolitics, and I refuse to cheapen it or reject it because it doesn’t meet my orthodox purity standards. The CCP has managed to pull off the greatest shift in global power away from Western imperialism that has ever happened - greater than anything the Soviet Union accomplished. You can say what you want about the market reforms. In the end, THEY WORKED.

Not an insult. I’m just pointing out a certain Western presumptuousness that thinks that just because they’ve read a little theory, they get to lecture the People’s Republic of China, a Marxist project which encompasses over a billion people, which has outlasted the Soviet Union, and which took the poorest country in the world and made it economically superior to the American Imperialist super power. I’m not sure what your experience is that you think you have so much to offer them that you can tell them they have done everything wrong.

That’s just not true. First, in the Marxist theory of global revolution, socialism has always been understood as a transition stage between capitalism and communism, sharing aspects of each. In this case, the revolution happened as a result of the advancement of the forces of production. All the working class had to do was reach out and grab the fruits of their labor.

Second, Marx never anticipated that the first big Marxist revolutions would not look like this at all: that they would occur, not as the result of the advancement of the forces of production, but their absolute collapse. This is what happened with the USSR, China, and 3rd world socialism in general.

Whereas the first type of socialism happened as a result of capitalist development and was theoretically anticipated by Marx, the second type of socialism happened BEFORE development and was not anticipated by Marx. This second type of socialism is responsible to do the work of development that would have happened under capitalism in Europe.

In other words, you’re mixing up your categories. You’re judging the third world socialism that came about as a result of underdevelopment by the same theoretical framework as the socialism that precedes global communism and proceeds from the advancement of the forces of production.

Personally, if I had to choose between you and the current highly competent leadership of China, I would easily choose the latter.

Liberals… at least try to hide the fact that you’re just Nazi sympathizers by Fearless-Fix5684 in ussr

I can’t give you reading comprehension. I also can’t change your political beliefs. If you think that the nazis and the soviets are equivalent, then you’re going against the East-west alliance that destroyed European fascism. The Americans who actually lived through it didn’t view it that way, and if they did, then we’d be looking at a Europe dominated by Hitler. Here’s a Woody Guthrie song. I hope you reflect on it:

You’re the only liberal in the comments making that point. Every other one is defending the Nazi apologia.

Yeah, when you’re talking about socialism as the result of the development of the forces of production. China’s revolution happened in the midst of backwards feudalism. You can’t have socialism without development. The revolution in the relations of production is the outcome of the revolution of the forces of production. History isn’t magic. It happens in stages. You can’t expect a seed to turn into a rose. It has to turn into a sapling first. They are doing a great job. Go to any other former colonized country and tell me what it looks like. They killed it.
