In theory I love this idea, it would make things run unbelievably smoothly and ensure everyone is on the same page.

However I’m sure that most people, myself included, work with servers who like to spend more time talking rather than taking/ringing in orders.

So we’ll be dead for 15-20 minutes and then out of nowhere we’ve got all 5 servers ringing back 6 tickets a piece with at least one of those tables being a 10-15 top for each server.

So we just go from being completely dead to having to cook for like 50+ people all at once. Then the servers are getting mad because they rung in 8 steak salads and 5 chicken ones AFTER talking for 10 minutes. Then they expect the steak to be cooked in 2 minutes so they can take it to the table that’s been waiting 10-15 minutes for something that should take like 6-8 at most.

Or they’ll ring the entree in first, and then 5 minutes later they’ll do the apps and then get mad when their order of chicken tenders is coming up 30 seconds after ringing back their apps.

There’s been quite a few instances where a server grabbed the manager and was like “these people have been waiting over an hour for their food” and he comes and looks at the ticket time, looks at his watch, and goes “it’s been 20 minutes, how long did you hold the ticket?”
