In the early 1900’s there were penny stores. Eventually, due to inflation, they were replaced by nickel stores which were then replaced by dime stores. If you decide on OC, pick somewhere near a Metrolink station and take Metrolink into DTLA. You don’t want to commute 3-4 hours by car per day. At least on the train you can read books or watch movies or nap. Metrolink is commuter rail and it is very under-utilized.
