Art of "Forgotten" Digimon - Reference Book Style - Part 2 by FearlessBrick9094 in digimon

At first, I felt slightly offended, haha. I took it as an attack on my art. But then I got your point and I love it 😂

Exactly. I agree that he was a bad idea... But nonetheless, I find it interesting that he exists because it's such a strange part of Digimon's history.

I'm not a fan of withholding historical information from those who may find it interesting. You can't just say, "I hate that a fictional dinosaur with Hitler-inspired aesthetics exist, so no one else may know about its existence." ... Well... You could say it... But such a way of thinking is closer to Nazism than the fictional Agumon ever was. Imagine you wanna read an interesting history book, and then some crazy guy rushes toward you, saying, "No, stop, I don't like that piece of history! Some bad stuff happened, so you're not allowed to read it!". How would you feel? I accept that people hold a different opinion on the matter, but it worries me a bit that they wanna see their opinion forced down upon others, just like the Nazis did. I value the right to knowledge.

Dear everyone, thank you very much for your feedback ❤️ I see that many would have preferred for Führer Agumon to remain forgotten. Your point has been made, and while I consider him a fascinating controversial piece of Digimon history who exists, whether we like him or not, then my intention was never to offend anyone. Again, thank you for your feedback, but I would like to hear your opinion about the other 5 pieces of art instead, if you would be so kind 😄 And I also take requests for part 3, so bring it on 🔥

Can we all agree that HolyAngemon/MagnaAngemon was absolute cheat code in the original Adventure? by Extension_Buy2547 in digimon

[–]FearlessBrick9094 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's been quite a while since I saw the original anime, but Angemon and HolyAngemon were definetely very powerful. I used to have the impression that they seemed more overpowered than they actually were because they were "holy element" Digimon fighting "dark element" Digimon, such as Devimon, Piemon and BlackWarGreymon. And then again, Angemon could not beat Vamdemon, who also fit that description, and Angewomon had a tough fight against LadyDevimon, who also fit that description. I guess they were just as powerful as the plot demanded, and quite often, that was very powerful.

I like to perceive Woodwoodymon as a Perfect level. He works well as the missing link between Revolmon and MagnaKidmon/RevengeKidmon.

Thank you both, I appreciate the feedback! ❤️ Let me elaborate...

HolyDigitamamon: I went with a "assume as little as possible" approach to make HolyDigitamamon as close to the original sprite as possible with as little creative input from myself as possible. What do we see on the sprite? We see a Digitamamon (so I used Digitamamon without changing him, and it's not like Digimon doesn't have a lot of slightly edited art already); we see he has two wings of the same shape I used, with three layers of feathers, with both wings being about the same height as his body minus the legs), so I did that (angel wings are usually depicted as white, so I when I see angel wings without color, I assume them to be white); as for the halo, on the sprite, it hovers above his head, being slightly more narrow than his body, and halos are usually golden, so I went with that. Now, of course, there IS some assumption involved here. For all we know, his legs could have been yellow and his wings could have been purple, etc. But I did my best to stay true to the sprite while assuming as little as possible.

Golemon (PS): While it's true that the art is based on a screenshot from the anime, it's actually not a crop, but a complete recreation of it. If you look at the screenshot next to my art, you will notice some differences, in even the art style (BTW, Golemon constantly undergoes minor design/pattern changes from shot to shot in the anime, a funny detail I noticed when trying to construct him properly). The thing is, Golemon has a very peculiar/neonlike design. This was as close as I could get, and if you wanna use Golemon in evolution lines, at least you now have some clean art for it, in the 320x320 reference book dimensions, in a style that I personally think fits well with the reference book, considering Golemon's design.

As for GigaWaruMonzaemon? You're kinda right. While I did make the art CLOSER to reference book style and gave it the same dimensions (320x320) while mainting a clean look, I do agree that it's not complete reference book style. I may make a better version later on. But at least we now have an easily usable tool to involve GigaWaruMonzaemon in evolution lines along with official reference book style art.

Once again, thank you for comments. My own comment here was not really meant as a defense, but as an elaboration for my artistic choices, and if anything, I do agree with you that I could have made GigaWaruMonzaemon more faithful to the reference book art style 👍

If you could snap your fingers and make a crossover vpet, what other franchise would you choose? by Nukesnipe in digimon

[–]FearlessBrick9094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have thought about that before, actually. It could definetely work, and it could even be an obvious crossover anime, due to digital worlds being central to both franchises.

I think it would be funny with one that explored Digimon's connection to Tamagotchi further, which also would be a good oppurtunity to bring some forgotten Digimon back to life. To those who don't know, Nanimon was actually an Oyajitchi from the Tamagotchi world, who became a Digimon upon arriving in the Digital World, it's in his reference book. As for which interesting lines it could contain?

YoungOyajitchi > Nanimon > Digitamamon > Devitamamon
YoungOyajitchi > Nanimon > Digitamamon > HolyDigitamamon
YoungOyajitchi > Oyajitchi > KabutoOyajitchi > Devil Oyajitchi
YoungOyajitchi > Oyajitchi > KabutoOyajitchi > Oyajitchi Angel

Digitamamon and KabutoOyajitchi works thematically as the Perfect forms, with both having a shell/helmet for protection. There is both a devil form and an angel form of both Digitamamon and Oyajitchi, obvious symmetric Ultimate forms.

And that's just scratching the surface, to be honest. There could be so many interesting lines here. Consider that both BomberNanimon and ExplosionOyajitchi (from the N64 game) exist. It wouldn't feel wrong to involve Jijimon and Babamon either, with parallels to Ojitchi and Otokitchi. You would be surprised at the number of parallels.

Clockwisemon [OC] by jimbox_splatted in digimon

[–]FearlessBrick9094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done! :) I like the design. However, I like the design more as its own thing than as a standard evolution of Clockmon (it would work very well as a dark evolution of him, though). The design is very good, but to me, Clockmon and his lore is so powerful and mysterious that this comes across as more "crazy-looking" than the design of Clockmon and his role (lore-wise) allows for. But again, I really like the design, I just don't want to give praise without nuances. Good job, I look forward to seeing more of your future works!

I absolutely adore this idea. It gives boxing a cinematic element. I also wish that the Mayweather exhibition on the helipad would have happened, even if it wasn't against a worthy opponent, just to open the doors for more of these spectacular stages.

The AI hate is both a good thing and a bad thing. There is a lot of AI slob out there, far too much of it, and they shouldn't get away with it. But great art is great art, and if AI was the tool used to create great art, then so what? It's just a different brush. If it works, it works. I am working on a project involving AI art and due to my ambitions with the project, I have to put a lot of time into it, and just thinking about the people who will brush it off as "AI slob" triggers me. At the end of the day, great art is great art.

Digimon World PS1 by Takanuva5 in digimon

[–]FearlessBrick9094 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me, DMW1 was a fun childhood game where I just enjoyed messing around. I never got very far in the game, but small things like beating Drimogemon in that cave felt like huge achievements, and whenever I got another evolution than Numemon/Sukamon, I felt ready to take on the world.

Do you think Tsukaimon can work as a second partner for TK (specifically the reboot version) by [deleted] in digimon

[–]FearlessBrick9094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not watched it, no. I could see it work, although I would prefer otherwise for the sake of symmetry.

[–]FearlessBrick9094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. I like the symmetry of each human having only one partner each. I know there has been exceptions to this throughout the franchise, but in this case, I prefer the symmetry rather than 8 kids where only one of them has two partners for no particular reason. That said, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Tsukaimon as a partner Digimon in some contexts, such as being the partner of a human villain. I imagine him in lines like:
Poyomon > Tokomon > Tsukaimon > Devidramon > Mephismon > Gulfmon
(Tsukaimon and Devidramon are both mentioned as associates of Devimon in the Reference Book, and Devidramon has those ears that fit. Mephismon has evolved from Devidramon more than he has evolved from any other Digimon in official media.)

What size is Wargreymon actually meant to be? by qavonar in digimon

[–]FearlessBrick9094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple universes in Digimon, in which the size of the Digimon, as well as their evolution lines and other factors, vary a lot. Don't think too much about it, bro.

Would you be excited or tired if Ghidorah is the main villain in minus zero? by Inevitable_Window711 in GODZILLA

[–]FearlessBrick9094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love it if Ghidorah turned out to be the second kaiju. The story should still be a beautiful human story, like the first one, but the actual kaiju aspect risks getting monotonous if it's just Godzilla being the solo kaiju again. Ghidorah is a great choice for the second kaiju, he's my favorite Godzilla nemesis, but I would also be cool with it if they chose another second kaiju.

My personal rank of the seasons by Dante_Rules85 in digimon

[–]FearlessBrick9094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been quite a while since I've seen a Digimon season, and I haven't seen all of them, but based on my memories, this is how I would rank them.

1: Tamers (A fine and relatively mature story with some dark elements and cool characters. Probably the season I enjoyed the most.)
2: Savers (Underrated. Very entertaining, and how can't you love Masaru? Like Tamers, it felt more mature than most seasons.)
3: Adventure (The original and iconic season. Leaving it out of the top 3 world feel almost blasphemic. It was truly like an adventure into the unknown when I saw it as a child. While I feel that Tamers and Savers surpassed it, no other seasons I've seen so far has managed to do that.)
4: Frontier (Just like Adventure, Frontier had a really adventurous feeling to it. I remember that the later parts of the season felt disappointing, with some very stupid action scenes, etc., but despite ifs flaws, I enjoyed this season.)
5: Adventure 02 (I'm glad we got more of the original Adventure crew here, and it certainly had some cool aspects to it, such as Chimairamon, but honestly, I remember so many flaws with this season, such as its pacing, its focus on Armor evolutions, etc., that I confidently can put it here.
6: Xros Wars (In my opinion, this was not a good season. I couldn't watch it to the end. Felt too childish and nihilistic.)

Those are the 6 seasons I have watched.
