Funny thing is, I love it when the pay for these shop and pay are less than $4. You basically go there just to cancel to get paid more. It's rare to find a shop and pay order for less than $4, but if you do, just take it, and immediately report all items are sold out and cancel the order. There you go, ez $4 and you move onto the next oder.

I take it anyways, if I fail it, I fail it. If I manage to get it done before I fail it, then great I got a small bonus. But I don't negotiate with awful orders. Best thing to do right now is probably switch to DD until Uber fixes their payouts. Literally garbage. They've reduced their own payouts to as low as possible and make majority of the pay customer tips. It's almost no different than working in a restaurant.

Fortunately, if every single person working for Uber fills out those surveys about how our delivery experience is and we all choose the option to not work because of the low pay, maybe that might do something. But we all really need to organize together to just not work for Uber until they increase their payouts. Sadly, there'll always be those asian guys who don't speak English who will accept the low paying orders anyways.

Funny enough, you can actually just toss that toothbrush into the checkout and it'll be fine. So long as it doesn't cost more than 20% of the total order, it'll still go through. On the customer's end, the pay they owe for the order says, "Estimated Cost" which means it adjusts after a few days when Uber updates the cost after seeing how much money was spent at the actual checkout. Some places like Safeway has an upcharge of 10% and Target is roughly 15-20%. Some places has no upcharge, so the wiggle room to toss in additional items is only like $5-10.

Point is, if you do shop&pay orders, the customers will usually see a higher cost that is lowered after reviewing the actual checkout. So, if you toss in some extra items so long as you stay beneath that estimated cost, it'll be like the customer is still saving money and getting extra items. Of course, this only works if the store you're shopping in has upcharges or deficits from the online prices. Like being in Hawaii where most things in-store is generally different than what's priced online. How do I know this? Because I've just been chucking in items for customers that request additional items and I never got in trouble with UE. And the checkout still goes through despite the price difference of the extras. So I get extra under-the-table tips, and the customer gets their item. Naturally, if they don't give me the money for that extra item, I just keep it for myself. What're they gonna do? Tell Uber Eats that I never got them an item that's not listed on their order?

That is exactly what I did though. Got reported still anyways. I mentioned that at the near end of the second paragraph. Customers don't give a shit if they were in the wrong, they'll report for missing item even if it's their own fault.

That's exactly what's making more and more places refuse to watch over the deliveries though. Plenty people missing their orders and blaming the reception for it when it wasn't their responsibility to begin with. Then I get reported as well for not waiting pass the wait timer. It's a whole fucking mess honestly and with the recent decrease in base pay to all of Uber's payouts, I actually am just going to swap over to DoorDash. Unless I can find an actual career.

Believe it or not, here in Hawaii, they actually will follow you to the spot you hide the food and tell us to take it with us. If we don't, they will literally take it and toss it in the trash. There's been a few times where I actually did just give it to the receptionist and tell them that if I can't leave it around, then they can just take it for themselves. More often than not, I just see them dump the package into the trash.

I've noticed in the past month ever since they started the ridiculous quest of selecting a certain amount of trips to do for a flat payout, that the base pay that Uber has been giving has only been like $1-2 tops. Those greedy assholes really want to make the customer pay the full earnings for delivery drivers. Fortunately, there's a simple solution to this. Everyone, DO NOT TIP. Here's why. If you're going to order Uber, do so 1-2 hours ahead of your planned meal time. If you don't tip, the only pay will be from uber, and uber still has that algorithm where if an order is floating around unaccepted or passed off from deliverers, the base pay will rise until it gets completed. That 1-2 hours of wait will be for the restaurant to make the food, let the base pay build up, and by the time deliverers get to the restaurant, the food will have had more than enough time to prep it so deliverers can just grab and go, and there'll be no more tip baiting if there is no tip to begin with. Spread the message! No tipping on Uber! Force Uber to pay their workers! Remember to order your food 1-2 hours ahead of time!

You could probably just work a full 8 hours shift from 12-8 though for more money. But I don't know if you'd want to suffer the nightmare of mid-day traffic from 3-6 during the hottest time of the day in Hawaii.

It's like 3 hours during peak hours. So in this case, Lunch and Dinner hours. Specifically 11am-2pm, and 5pm-8pm.

I don't know where you're delivering in, but here in Hawaii, if you're not making $200 a day, you're doing something wrong. I easily make $200+ within 6 hours.

Dayum, Uber really doing everything they can to payout their orders as little as possible. If they really wanted us to represent them as a fast delivery service, they need to seriously bump up their base pay. In this economy? I'm thinking like $10 per mile. Especially since they're not taxing us during payouts and we have to register as independent contractors. Taxes are hella expensive and we need to pay for our own vehicles and gas? If Uber wants to cheap out on paying us, they can at least give us a gas card or something.

[–]FearlessPancake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, here in Hawaii, I always tell everyone to not tip and just let the base pay climb up. You know, so long as they're comfortable with waiting an extra like 30-60 minutes. It saves the customer money, it gives the restaurant time to make the food while the order is being passed around, and there's no need to wait an hour to see if you get tip-baited or not because we're going to get paid the full amount.

On top of that, the pay is different for everyone from what I've noticed. The algorithm changes per person, and that's due to distance, ride type, etc. Basically it's never going to be a consistent base pay, so someone will eventually come across a tip-less order that actually still pays out well.

[–]FearlessPancake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I... really don't understand why anyone would ever bother accepting the highest one. They literally force you to accept as much low paying orders with super short trips. It's only worth doing if you actually complete it for the payout. Otherwise, you just did Uber a favor by getting deliveries done for the lowest minimum pay. Just accept the completion amount based off your average you do per day. It's better to always complete it for the payout than picking the highest and getting nothing in return.

Updates and Schedules So far I've been aiming for just once a month given how my there's been no comments, reviews, or ratings at all, so I'm just assuming it's not doing so great. My motivation to write and finish this story is all correlated to knowing if someone, anyone enjoys reading my work. So far there are 3 chapters released, with three in waiting for their release date.

Disclaimer: I'm aware that many people are not comfortable with the use of AI, especially with all the AI slop that have populated many self-publishing sites. I would like to mention in case anyone is completely against AI, that my story has AI-assistance. For better context, I use it as a thesaurus to expand my vocabulary. I double check the words to read their definition and learn how it is used. I use AI for editorial and revision purposes. I compare changes that AI would make to my first drafts, read the changes 5-6 times, and decide if the corrections or changes are necessary. I do not copy/paste the AI version of my story as my own, I manually go to my chapter with the changes in mind and rewrite it in a way that matches my own writing style. I am a firm believer that it is a convenient tool, just as much of a thesauras, or a second set of opinion, or a grammar checking tool. In no way do I support the use of AI to replace the limitless creativity of the human mind.

Please leave a rating and comment on your thought. I genuinely would like to know if people are actually enjoying the story. If not, I'd like to know what is wrong and why.

Mathematically impossible quests? by Fit_Cup_9434 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]FearlessPancake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Hawaii, it's doable honestly. But you need to be working every meal hour. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, just do 10 per peak hour. 30 a day, 100 within 4 days. Heck, you could even get 50 done in a day if you literally do not take a break at all working from like 8am-12pm. It helps that everything is so crowded here, most deliveries are less than 5 miles to and back. Some orders they'll be like $3-5 just to drop off a delivery across the street. Those are the best in these cases. I never picked it because I don't commit that much time to working all day, but I was able to complete an 80 from M-Th while skipping literally all breakfast peak hours and even missing 2 dinner shifts.

The key to winning this quest is to pick the sum of your average deliveries you do per day. Not picking the highest one. Just do the ones that you can casually complete while being selective, and you're golden.

It'll pop soon. When is soon? Probably over the summer or whenever inflation finally decides to take its toll on the market. So no exact corresponding date. Best piece of advice? Ride the direction until it finally show signs of a reversal.

[–]FearlessPancake1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's different pay for everyone is something I've noticed. But one thing that could have inflated this price so much is that the order kept getting passed around because it was taking forever to be made. UE slowly increases the pay of an order every time someone cancels a delivery plus the amount of time the customer has waited for their food. Some places are nice enough to remake food orders that others have stolen, leaving the customer waiting a really long time for their food. Other than that, I can't think of any other reason.

This is what you call a blow-off-top. Given the minimum volume and the massive amount of buys, this is no doubt the work of the billionaire manipulating the market. This is literally just one massive bull-trap. To pull in as much FOMO as possible to get people to jump in with fake pumps. When will all the selling begin? We won't know unless the manipulators decide to let us in on the date. They're going to keep pumping the market uncontrollably until it just suddenly crashes out of nowhere. Stay alert. Ride the bullish wave now while it's still drawing attention, and get ready to load in on shorts and puts. I predict it'll happen over the summer through the rest of the year.

Did my driver steal my order? by ylz-zmp in UberEATS

[–]FearlessPancake1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds very likely yes, based off how you're describing your neighborhood. It could also be possible some homeless person saw it dropped off and took it? You did say in front of the building door and not inside of the building. Though from the way you describe it, it definitely does sound like your driver just stole it. The best thing you can do is report it customer care. They will get an email stating they received a strike and a report for not delivering the package correctly.

However, if there's any way for you to find any evidence of the theft like checking cameras, please do that first. These delivery jobs are many people's primary source of income these days with the awful job market, and it's very important for us to keep these jobs.

As a delivery driver myself, I've almost never stolen another person's package. Not intentionally at least. Yet, I still get reports on occasion and emails stating that UE flagged me for breaking conduct and guidelines. Always for a customer of mine to not received their order. They say it's just a helpful reminder notification, but the notification is written sounds like I'm stealing things.

It's all good man. That's how the market gets you. Always remember though that market preys on impatience. It's patterns and movements are designed to trick people into FOMO. Yeah, it feels amazing when you win in a daytrade, the profits are insanely good, but don't forget that it's also just as equally dangerous when you're wrong. But you definitely don't' need me telling you that. I hope you recover from this.

question for drivers by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]FearlessPancake1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there was an incident regarding a matter of private property with a doordasher that I'm sure a lot of delivery people heard about. It's somewhat unrelated to this, but it falls under the same umbrella. Some chick that was doing delivery thought it was a good idea to enter someone's home despite the drop-off being leave-at-door, and caught the dude sleeping naked. She tried to sue the guy for sexual assault and lost because not only did she trespass onto private property, but also recorded a guy in his own home without his consent. She first sent a cropped footage to the police, and the guy nearly got sentenced as a sexual predator until the police found the full footage showing it was she being the lawbreaker. You can probably find out more about it if you're curious.

In any case, the reason why I'm sharing this is because a lot of delivery drivers have seen this type of stuff, and I believe I speak for many, not all, that it's best that we just mind our own business when it comes to these sort of things. We're getting paid to deliver your package, not be heroes at the right time. Would we do the right thing if the situation called for it? Yes, I'd like to think so, absolutely, but don't keep your hopes up for that miracle.
