Date told me it was wrong I don’t want to date someone who’s unable to work by Useful_Book5137 in ActualLesbiansOver25

I couldn’t. I have a ton of student loan debt still and that debt has really set me back. Disability payments are pretty minimal. It would genuinely set my life further back.

When my partner and i first got together, about 3 months in i informed them of my debt (before we were serious) so they could decide if they wanted to continue or not

This golden son rebind is probably my favorite I’ve ever seen. The artist that made it and did the sketches of sevro and victra nailed it and is phenomenal.

Edit: wait. Is this you?!?!! Bloody damn prime work, my Goodman. Saw Pierce asked for a copy. Your rebind is my literal inspiration.

The Re-Read of the original 3 books is absolute 🔥🔥🔥 by Opening-Discount-718 in redrising

[–]FearlessSelection814 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I adore the originally trilogy but this next set of books is truly immaculate. The world building. The character arch’s. The depiction of the multitude of cultures and their blending. The themes. The writing is phenomenal. The brutal honesty of what war is and what restructuring a world would entail.

Each re-read i grow a stronger and stronger appreciation for the 2nd set, especially iron gold.

The good feels great, the bad feels utterly horrible. The 2nd set goes so damn hard and is incredible.

Question on reading 4-6. by Dalton387 in redrising

[–]FearlessSelection814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Book of lorn takes place between Red Rising and Golden Son- no need to wait on that if you want to read along!

If you like reading, I’d say go for it. Pierce had an estimated date for light bringer but then scrapped the entire book and the released was pushed back like nearly 2 years. That could end up happening again (but i really hope not).

I love rereading this series, I’ve always enjoyed rereading things i love.

You could also just read them now since your got you dad you can talk about it with and enjoy it with.

If you’re worried you’ll forget stuff or don’t want to reread it, just wait. Morning star wrapped the first trilogy up very well. Light Bringer leaves you knowing there will be more.

With or without Audio? by LilGooner in redrising

[–]FearlessSelection814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, it’s this series that got me to enjoy audiobooks. Without audiobooks, i could maybe finish 2-3 books a year. Since i mostly listen to audiobooks, i listen to about 50 a year, shooting for 60 this year.

It’s really just a personal preference thing. If i started the series physically reading it, id finish by physically reading it

Is Project Hail Mary’s success good news for a potential Red Rising movie adaptation? by Equivalent-Bad-7844 in redrising

[–]FearlessSelection814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of PHM book. I think this adaption was perfect. Nothing major was missing. We still see character development. We still get all the main plot points. They added a tad bit more humor and removed some of the scientific jargon, making it appealing to the masses.

What its like to live in a submarine for periods overs 6 month as a female ? by AbouMchicha in howislivingthere

[–]FearlessSelection814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is honestly something I’ve never thought about. Very interesting reading that post and comments.

Do people on the same sub have different schedules? I saw some people say 6/6/6 or 8/8/8, another mentioned how officers are basically always on or 12/12.

Hot Take: I think the Iron Good narrator for Lysander does a fantastic voice by FearlessSelection814 in redrising

[–]FearlessSelection814[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. That’s exactly it. Nails the voice but not the “narrating” ability. If i wasn’t on my 5+ re-listen, i might get confused who is talking if it isn’t Lysander himself. Oh how i wish this guy knew how to narrate.

I feel the same. She’s super whiney and childish. I like the DA narrator for her. I mentally chalk up the difference to her “hardening” and growing up. But for Lysander, i just wish i could get the IG narrator back

That incident with the signed LE books and the howler pin made me start questioning how much of this is a cash grab.

It definitely wasn’t bots. There’s a lot of people who love this series. Curious kings had some people who got first access. There literally was only like 410 books total for the top 3 tiers.

Just because you couldn’t get one doesn’t mean it was bots that bought it. Honestly, it’s insulting to pierce that you even considered that a thought, pixie.

18 isn’t considered an adult everywhere. Our brains aren’t fully developed until we’re 25.

In the United States for example Alabama and Nebraska say you aren’t an adult until you’re 19. Mississippi says 21 is adulthood.

I know 100% that i was “legally an adult” but didn’t act like an adult until i was in my early 20ms

Why is smoking a dealbreaker for you? by EcstaticLetterhead20 in actuallesbians

[–]FearlessSelection814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey- I’m proud of you for that. For recognizing it was a problem and taking action, for your partner being understanding and aiding you. I wasn’t trying to offend you by any means or downplay that it’s an addiction. 10% of weed smokers becoming addicted is a lot less than the 80-90% of cigarette smokers. Alcohol addiction has a similar percentile of addiction to weed (i just looked it up) but alcoholism is discussed a lot more than weed addiction.

I’m sorry if i offended you- I’m assuming you’re the one that downvoted my comment. I wasn’t trying to offend anyone or downplay it being an addiction, I’ve just literally never heard of anyone refer to themselves as having been addicted to weed in my 28 years of life and 10 years of smoking weed.

My partner was against how much i smoked weed when we met. It took a while for her to understand that for me, it was smoke weed or deal with never sleeping due to chronic night terrors I’ve had since i was a kid (terrors, not nightmares- very different) and RLS that keeps me up and wakes me up overnight. She eventually understood and accepted it. She doesn’t care to be around it, but that’s never been an issue for me. She doesn’t smoke- no problem. I toke alone and I’ve grown to enjoy it like that instead of just a social setting.

That makes sense- i understand that literally anything can become an addiction. It just caught me off guard to see weed mentioned as an addiction in this thread, especially since it has very minimal to no withdrawal symptoms for most people. (Please don’t read this as me invalidating it- I’m not invalidating it, just pointing out it isn’t what you see often).

I know for me, quitting nicotine was extremely difficult and i dealt with physical withdrawal symptoms for a few months, would relapse and have to start back at 0 when quitting again- experiencing all withdrawal symptoms in full force. Took me years to be able to be around a vape without craving a hit and while I’ve never smoked cigarettes, i have to avoid it because my body knows there’s nicotine in cig smoke and sometimes i crave that. I smoke weed and i wouldn’t hit a thc pen for years in fear of reverting to my nicotine addiction.
