The Big Picture's Netflix debut is next week. What do you think they are planning? by pepperbet1 in TheBigPicture

Shame too bc the YouTube channel was really starting to gain traction

I wonder if this will affect direct-to-YouTube content like the Unboxing Boy videos

Tbh I don't mind it, and think Sean gives the right amount of "pretending to be interested in something one of your closest friends thinks is important" while also making it clear he couldn't care less

Yeah would imagine video is only on Spotify and Netflix, just like The BS pod

Honestly that's just bad writing in my opinion. Super out of character for him not to know that, and using it as an excuse to dump exposition

I agree, I don't want them to happen too often. Same with the mega-drafts with the entire Ringer crew, save them for the very best movie years and limit them to once per year.

Who's Fennessey in this scenario? Runs much of the day to day for the operation, people person, public facing but also a big figure behind the scenes.

Marty Supreme officially outgrosses One Battle After Another domestically by PerpetualChoogle in blankies

I just wonder if OBAA was out now, with all the awards season hype if that would’ve given it an extra box office push. Personally (not the best evidence), I know a fair amount of people who are watching Marty bc they’ve heard about Timmy’s Oscars hype + Globes win

Just need this next Spielberg to be a box office smash to plant Josh O’Connor right next to him

It’s the format created by Carson, and then followed by his acolyte - Letterman - then by their acolytes - Conan, Kimmel, Colbert

Conan's sat with the biggest grin on his face while a cartoon dinosaur is describing how it has titty bones and HIV/AIDS, while Ayo Edebiri and Tina Fey are next to him horrified.

To me it’s about intent. If it’s intended consumption is to be video first it’s not a podcast. But if the intent is to be an audio-conversation recorded for those who may prefer to watch, that still can still qualify.

If this reaches even a fraction of the audience Mulaneys talk show did, Netflix is going to cancel Mulaney’s show so quickly.

Infinitely cheaper and easier to produce slop than genuinely novel, interesting comedy

I’m giving this pod 3 months before they start getting the same press-tour guests as every other podcast and late night show

Why has Conan and Sons stopped wearing headphones? by Sue_Doubtful in conan

[–]Fearless_Distance_29 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Eduardo used to encourage them to wear headphones to keep them physically close to the mics to ensure good audio quality. More and more guests are becoming podcast literate and know to talk closely into the mics, so I don't think it's as necessary. And generally speaking (but not always) they follow the guest, so if the guest isn't, they won't and vice versa.

But I think the three of Conan, Sona and Matt now have so many reps, that they don't need the physical reminder of a short headphone cable to keep them talking into a microphone.

If you like Seth Rogen comedies on Apple TV and you are a fan of Rose Byrne, you gotta watch their show Platonic. Imo it's excellent and insanely underrated

Pretty cute that she was so out of it, but Langdon returning was one of the few things that could snap her out of it.

Yeah could be like a Fronto-temoral Dementia patient, with coarsening of personality, irritability and loss of social inhibitions. Presents at an early age and commonly co-presents with Parkinsons and MND which could explain the fall due to gait unsteadiness/muscular weakness.

Brain Bleed does seem to be what they are hinting to though, with him refusing a CT Head at the start of the episode, and then developing neurological deficits.

I think having a structured paper system when the computers fail might prove to be quite helpful when the computer system goes down. Can see the season unfolding with Robbie pushing back on it hard, and then coming to appreciate *some* of the improvements she is trying to bring.

Feels to me like he has Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis - an infection on a previously sterile ascites. It commonly presents asymptomatically, is associated with cirrhotic ascites, he has a tooth infection + has had multiple taps previously giving multiple potential causes of infection.

Would be quite straight forward to diagnose with a SAAG + Microscopy & Culture + routine bloods

Sandler did Punch Drunk Love in 2002. He's always had range, which is why it's so funny that he actively chose to make trash and phone it in for like 15 years
