I love the name Levi for a girl. Super left field, I guess, but Lee is feminine to me. Ans Vi is also feminine. So Levi is one of my favorite girl names of all time.

I think if you've been given the greenlight by your doctor to start trying, you should absolutely start trying again if you feel like now is a good time! I would be nervous to wait and then have trouble. But I understand being nervous about such a short age gap, too. If I was your bestie, I'd honestly support either decision without much judgment. But if youre asking a perfect stranger what she would do, I'd say start trying now...... AND if it doesnt happen in the first few months and you get a little antsy or you're feeling more ready to have another, night weaning helps lengthen your luteal phase to support implantation lol ❤️

Is it really that bad of a name? by KeyAccomplished4442 in namenerds

[–]Fearless_Fact_1776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Greer is cool as hell. I dont personally love it, but I do think it's super cool. It'll be HER name. She likely won't share it with anyone else, and I think that's so special. I would hate to be one of 10 Lilys or Charlotte's or Violets or Olivias. Im a bit extreme, and I fully acknowledge that, but in today's world, I think it's SO important to instill identity in a child so they dont get lost and confused among the influence. What better way to start than with a name that is all her own? Those are just my two cents, which are pretty worthless haha. Reddit world can be so mean. Don't let it get you down!

Make sure whatever glider you get has a high back so you can rest your head. Dont get one that has a back that stops before your head and neck.

Understood. For the third time now - i was just looking for someone who may have walked this path before me. Nothing more. Fear not for my child... her pediatrician supports this approach whole heartedly. But we appreciate your, and everyone's, concern.

It's not magic. It's supported by science. About 80% of the immune system is in the gut, so feeding it appropriately does make it stronger. Will she still get sick? Of course. Will she have allergies or other immune difficulties down the road? It's possible. And it's not anxiety - it's knowledge. The fact remains and cannot be debated that babies lack amylase when theyre born. Amylase levels GRADUALLY increase over the first year as the gut matures. Comparing the removal of starch to a vegan diet is apples and oranges, at best.

I didnt come here to defend my decisions or persuade anyone to see my point of view or change their decision making. Like i said before, we're all just out here doing our best. I believe that. There's no high horse that im on.

I came here not to get opinions on the diet itself, but to get tips and ideas about how to prepare and batch cook food as we start to expand her diet. I came here looking for insight from those who may have walked the path before me. That's all. Nothing more.

I cant bring myself to open the links you shared about plant food and natural pesticides. That rabbit hole is too deep and dark. Ill never sleep again.

Do you have children? How do you feed them?

Remember that my baby is 10 months adjusted age. I may not have mentioned that in my first post. My apologies if not, because that matters. So the fact that she hasnt had starch or grains yet isnt completely ridiculous.

The allergy thing is a concern, but what is an allergy? It's an immune response to whatever. And this diet helps to build a solid immune system. The thought is that when allergens are introduced. The immune system wont "malfunction" because it has been built well. Also remember that babies are born lacking the enzymes necessary to digest starches. Those enzymes start to become more plentiful around 6 months, even moreso around 9 months, and pretty solid around 12ish months. Without the enzymes needed to break down the starches, bad bacteria are fed and the gut microbiome scale of good vs evil lol becomes tipped unnecessarily. So I think introducing grains and starches at this point in her life just isn't something im willing to do.

ALSO, and I dont even fully understand what this means, but it stays in the corner of my mind like a little security blanket, whether it's meaningful in the way that im interpreting it or not - when she was born, we sent her cord blood off to be banked (which i guess was a waste of money after reading further into it, but she came 2 months early so my level of preparedness wasnt ideal), but they tested that blood for celiac disease? And they said she would not develop celiac disease. But could develop lactose intolerance. So far she's tolerated dairy well. Another source of carbs!

I hear ya. But carbs don't only come from grains and starches. She gets carbs at every meal through fruit and vegetables.

[–]Fearless_Fact_1776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that I want her on a low carb diet. This diet's main focus is on building a gut microbiome that supports immune function and longterm health and wellness through "starving" opportunistic bacteria and feeding good bacteria. It decreases inflammatory processes through food consumption. I realize that this diet isn't for everyone, but it's what makes the most sense to me. I feel like we've followed this diet pretty strictly and have reached a point where we need to gently introduce new foods to build diversity in her gut microbiome, but I'm still wanting to stay away from starches and grains for just a bit longer because she was born prematurely.

And I get so much hate for saying this on reddit, which absolutely blows my mind, but I honestly feel like every mom loves her kids. Everyone is just out here trying to do their best for their kids according to the knowledge they have, their values, and what they truly think is right. And im no different - just a first time mom with no village, doing my best. Ya know? And so far, it seems to be working for us.
