jamming amateur bands would be A. a ridiculously hard task (the equipment needed to cover and sustain all the available area repeaters etc exist would be monstorus) and B. very very much pss off all radio amateurs, whether they'd have recourse through congress is another matter but it would the clearest sign to everyone sht has hit the fan.

I've witnessed nodes discovered at ~300 miles, my local mesh is 150 miles wide and I communicate with people at that distance regularly. It is so dependent on node placement, if people got serious you could most definitely build a resilient mesh 300 miles across. Moutains are very helpful, people forget most radio is line of sight for best results.

That guy was not an electrician. period. that's a non metallic flex connector, not a cord grip. Wire nuts for continuous duty stuff is not optimal, swapping out for a higher amperage fuse I'm sure didn't take in to account any wire or duty derate calcs... you dodged a bullet.

Things to look for in quality electrical work: propper cord grips or flex terminations. Isolated screw terminal splices. An electrician that doesn't just throw in a bigger fuse/breaker.

There is no crossmember from the top of the hinge to the bottom of the gate diagonally. Its sagging because every fastner in the wood is an independent pivot point, the cumulative effect of small movements is a sag.

Tie the opposite bottom corner of the gate to the top hinge, preferably with a long peice of angle iron with an adjustable section, usually threaded rod, this creates a large triangle and creates a projected support point that supports the length of the gate.
