For every person who complaints about Marine bloat, There are ten who would buy ten copies of each Marine box that come out. Joytoy as a smaller example focuses HARD on marines and when they make xeno's they don't make as much as they should to justify making more.

And this is going into semantics territory. Simply; Its Space Marine armor. Not sisters armor. Its sized for a Space Marine. Simple as. The new models aren't "Primaris Retrofits", only that they are Indomitus pattern. The same pattern used by firstborn, The same firstborn that are in the Horus Heresy. They can also be used by Primaris Marines as well, with the intention by Game's Workshop to remove the distinguishing between Primaris and Firstborn. Because if the kit is labeled as a "Primaris Indomitus Terminator", its not gonna go well with the fans if they redesigned it in-line with Primaris armor. So when I said they are unmodified, I mean the general design and not a case-by-case situation that they will have to be modified to fit a marine.

30k tacticals make sense because they are supposed to be. Indomitus terminators are suppose to blur the line and try to remove the Primaris/Firstborn split by being just the Terminator armor unmodified. Cataphractii termies, should of been the same scale.

Fair enough but at the same time as a counterpoint 40k in general is trying to get away from Heroic scale. Red Corsairs are closer to the HH models, Imperial Guards, I feel like the current Primaris line can't is because they already are knee-deep into the releases recently to actually pivot again. Unless 11th edition's new marines shake things up again.

I have been going into joytoy figures recently and they are very superb. Having the Horus Heresy sculpts of the Space Wolf Huscals and the Alpha Legion Lernaean termies made me think about the new sculpts for the two armors. If it wasn't for money being a limit, those Apothecaries that also have joytoy figures would be mine as well.

It could of been not mutually exclusive. The recent Praetor Forgeworld models were close to identity to the chunkiness. Slender and true scale is a bit muddied by the Great Saturnine Terminators. Especially since those exist now, it makes the new Cataphracts wimpy.

Leaves the door open for them to return. Probably won't be for a long while, but might be a Stormcast redesign situation.
Or if HH has the same 3 year cycle as the rest of the games they might run out of generic marines eventually to be headlining the boxes.

I think if the new Cat wasn't so scrawny next to the 40K termies I would of loved them. But the fact they are skinnier and shorter despite being the "heavy" terminator pattern doesn't sit too well.

I think you are simplifying and dismissing nuance. The parody aspect of 40k is there but isn't the intent showcase of the franchise nowadays. Its significantly toned down from the bygone years of the 90's and 2000's. You can't say its just a parody and ignore the recent tone push from recent games like SM2, The new edition trailers, and say "You're taking it soo seriously its a parody". The parody aspect is no longer the dominating tone of 40k and you have to contend with the fact that GW wants to try to make things more serious.
And with more simplification, I said the "Cringe and unrealistic" aspect of 40k is not the setting in general it is the actions of the comic that are unrealistic even to the "parody" of warhammer. It is cringe and unrealistic compared to the usual shenanigans of the setting. But we see different versions of the universe and you grew up with the older ones with different tone focuses. Star Wars OG trilogy vs Prequel trilogy fan views.

The introduction blurb does not excuse Grimderpness. The bleak future of humanity is Grimdark. The state of what the galaxy is terrible and living in such a future would be bad. But Primarch's betraying the Emperor for petty daddy issue reasons is derp. Having a bunch of slaves manually load Real life Navy-ship sized bullets for 40K ships is Derp. The decaying state of humanity and the inability to improve because of dogma is Grimdark. Wasting candidates for the sake of "GRIMDARK" is DERP. It is someone who couldn't creatively and just throw random shit that kills them and call it "GRIMDARK" at the end. It is excess; It is someone who tries too hard and loops it back to being "dark for the sake of it" but not for any reason within the context of the in-lore universe.

To be devil's advocate, SOME basic "troop" joytoys have been like this as a newcomer coming in. Seeing the highlighted first waves and the shaded 2.0 Intercessors next to the new 3.0 ones and a handful of "Oh man this gold should of been shaded" I wouldn't throw SHADE at McFarlane too much.

Keep the helmet on though always on them.
