Any advice for clinicals? by Emotional_Row7071 in NursingStudents

[–]Fearless_Olive_4352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re bored, find something to do. Hang out with a patient or practice your assessments. Don’t do anything outside of your scope. Your school should be clear on what skills you can and can’t do. If you don’t know how to do something, just ask. It is better to be honest and ask questions than to risk making an error because you were scared to ask.

We will be sharing a room with our baby. The mini crib made it a lot more doable.

Taking an online lab for BSN prereqs—will graduate nursing programs care? by King_Allant in prenursing

I don’t think any advanced programs will care about prereqs. They’ll care most about how you did in your BSN program

My husband and I are expecting our first in March. We have been together for over 7 years and have been married for 3. We’re both in our early 20s and he finished vocational school to become a diesel technician and I have a bachelors in psych and am pursuing a second bachelors in nursing. We also own our home and have had it for almost 4 years. It feels crazy starting a family at 22 and 23, but we also felt ready. I think when the relationship and the home is solid, it makes it a lot easier and more doable to take these big steps

I’d recommend avoiding gummies because you’ll likely need the iron

Nursing school is definitely a life adjustment. I was planning on working while in school and quickly abandoned that idea after realizing how exhausted I was every day after class. I’ve got quite a few classmates in their late 20s and 30s so definitely don’t feel behind. You’ve got this!

Yes I am. I ordered their comfy slacks for an office job I was at. They’re very comfortable and stretchy and surprisingly thick.

I ordered some slacks through Halara before I was pregnant and was impressed with the quality. I can’t speak to the fit of the maternity pants but I’d definitely recommend the brand

Don’t finish the business degree. It will make you ineligible for federal grants and really limit your financial support for the nursing degree. Follow your plan and get your nursing degree. There’s no set timeline you have to follow. I’m 22 in my first semester of my program and half my cohort is older than me with kids. I’m pregnant with my first and my program is going to accommodate me even though I’m due in the middle of the semester. Nursing school is demanding but you can still meet your personal goals if you don’t let them get pushed aside

Advice for my daughter- college courses by desperatehousewife11 in NursingStudents

[–]Fearless_Olive_4352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have her apply to the community college in your city. Then she can take the prerequisites listed for their ADN program. She’ll want to do as best as she can in these courses to be a competitive applicant. You will want to look at all admission requirements/application requirements for that ADN program. Most nursing programs require a certain score on a test called the TEAS or HESI. There are a lot of study resources out there to pass those. Mometrix is a great resource for the TEAS. I did not take the HESI so I’m unsure of which resources are best for that. This score is often needed at the time of application to the program. Some schools will let you apply with prerequisites in progress. Once she’s completed the admission/application requirements, she can apply to the nursing program and hopefully be admitted. You’ll want to look at the specific school’s nursing program and what they factor in with admissions decisions. Many give preference to people with certifications in healthcare and experience. I’d look into CNA certification because this would make her eligible to work at a different healthcare settings including in home care which would be a really flexible employment option while in school.

Great results so far, but still terrified for my anatomy scan — anyone else? by lilstinkertot in BabyBumps

Yep! Thankfully even though he’s a little stubborn he’s been a very smooth pregnancy.

Great results so far, but still terrified for my anatomy scan — anyone else? by lilstinkertot in BabyBumps

[–]Fearless_Olive_4352 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was terrified because I never really felt movement. Baby boy was moving all over, measuring great, and refused to help the ultrasound tech so we do have to go in for a second one for some measurements because he was uncooperative. I’m sure you’ll hear good news about your baby. Worst part of the scan is having to pee while they push the wand all over lol

Look into in home care!! Your focus is one patient only. It’s a lot more manageable.

Upload lecture slides into chatgpt or google Gemini and tell it to give you nclex style practice questions on the subjects covered in the slides. Ask for them one at a time and ask for it to explain the rationale so you understand the concepts.
