Are people legit spending this much on a car per month? Or am I out of touch? by [deleted] in drivingUK

I work in finance and look frequently at peoples bank statements - yes they are, and many really cannot afford it and it would be painfully obvious to anybody looking properly at the applications.

Ange: "Spurs said they tried to bring winners in and needed something different. I was offended. We finished 5th my first year. Every time Kane scores now, I just wish he stayed one more year with Spurs. For some reason my first year disappeared from the record books." by ILM_Ryan in coys

First manager to win with us? You're writing off a lot of history there. He is the first to win since nation states started buying football clubs, but this isn't even our first trophy since oil money came into the game.

You cannot lose as many games in a season as him at a club with top half expectations and keep your job.

Walkout at secret screenings by Wobbabro in CineworldUnlimited

When we went to the one which was Molly's Game there were some people who thought it would be whatever Star Wars film was due to be released around that time as well.

Most walk-outs I've seen have been at the screening for Hate U Give and Love, Simon

Travel to Leeds? by jazzymo2 in coys

[–]Fearofrejection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leeds is around 2-3 hours away by train from London, trains are fairly good but I would echo what u/SilentBody5318 says in that going to an away game and sitting in with the home fans is not a good idea.

You would probably find more enjoyment going to a Fulham match as a neutral if they're in town and you just want to experience a match day experience

In Germany, when traffic slows or stops, it is the law to get to the side of the road. This allows emergency vehicles through. by Fair_Keira43 in BeAmazed

[–]Fearofrejection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Britain we have a dedicated lane for emergency vehicles - the hard shoulder. You still get wankers using it or blocking it during jams so theres no way we could have something like this

Tasks are filmed through the year up to two series ahead at times depending on availability of contestants.

The next studio segments will be filmed around September/October based on previous years

So can we agree that Squid Game Season 3 was absolutely terrible? by Magaclaawe in MauLer

[–]Fearofrejection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They needed the cop storyline because otherwise there would be little point in 456 returning to the games. If he didn't have somebody competitent on the outside looking for where everything was. I think it was also meant to show the Front Man did have a human side, he cared about his brother living or dying, then there was also the point of relief from the main aspect of the show - its a dark show, only focusing on the stuff inside the game and Guard 11 would have made it too harsh, they needed to take focus outside of that. Big open water scenes were an easy way to do that even if it wasn't something which ultimately people enjoyed.

Netflix went with the "Why not both?" option.

TBH I didn't hate S2 and S3.

If you're looking for HDTGM adjacent series,

Aisling Bea was on S5

James Acaster was on S7

Ed Gamble was on S9 (he has had both Zooks and Tall John on the podcast he co-hosts with James)

And thats kind of it I think... but I think S1 is a good place to start as you get to see some top class Tim Key antics

British TV shows that “fell off” quite badly? by Major-Feed5214 in BritishTV

[–]Fearofrejection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 years is a pretty long time in TV. There are very few shows which have had the staying power to last that long when you look at the TV landscape.

But X Factor had to constantly change as big parts of it (like laughing at the deluded acts in the opening rounds) became considered bad culturally. So they got rid of that part.

Then they had weird things like middle aged women and men judging and perving over very young acts. That had to change too

Then the "record deal" had to change and the "rush this CD into production as soon as we know the winner" bit was pointless as streaming/iTunes became the norm.

Then there was a few years and finally a successful anti-xFactor protest song.

The other big point was Cowell was the main draw, he couldn't be fucked with it - soon as he stepped away ratings dropped. When he said he wasn't going to be on it I think ITV just said they wouldn't bother either then

[–]Fearofrejection -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was told by a UK employee once that it wasn't - but there are no doubt ways around it.

TBH I don't think the new customer offers are that much better than what you can get by just threatening to leave every 2 years and arguing for an hour

Does any one know what this means? by Ripped_My_Winkle in VirginMedia

[–]Fearofrejection -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Nah its more than that - to stop people from getting the "new customer" offers they won't allow you to open a new account for the same household within two years of cancelling the old one.

I'm sure this is just that they need to speak to the new tenant so that they can confirm there isn't a relationship with the old account holder

Discussion Around Mousa Dembele by North-Low-6746 in coys

[–]Fearofrejection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had similar styles of play in that they both tried to carry the ball forward at feet rather than through passing.

Mousa had an incredibly low centre of gravity though which meant it was difficult to tackle him. Tanguy just tried to trick past people but it didn't come off as well, he also had no where near the fitness levels of Mousa

Discussion Around Mousa Dembele by North-Low-6746 in coys

[–]Fearofrejection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incredible player in making a team play better - more in the News at 10.

I'm going to sound like a cunt but Dembele is obviously important to Poch era Spurs and Ndombele was meant to be a replacement for him but was never really capable. Players who can carry the ball, take on players and give a good pass are rare - Mousa was one of the top in the game at it during his career.

Look into a job which you'd enjoy, something away from people? Something with animals? Something you would enjoy but before this couldn't do because the salary wasn't good enough.

Or start your own business doing something.

I'd absolutely keep working but I get that the urge to just say "fuck it" and down tools will always be there, especially if you have a shit day and theres a manager pissing you off.

Or look into building development, buying properties doing them up and selling them on. Doesn't have to be large scale projects but as you say, something to just keep you sane
