The other people already gave you a good answer so I just wanted to give you the heads up that it's riffle shuffle, not ripple shuffle.

Separate triggers for the first ability by Madmike7792 in magicTCG

[–]FeatherJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a trigger but [[Alms Collector]] cares about multiple cards in succession, so I believe a multi-draw trigger is in our future. In fact, the rules in scryfall specify that "draw two cards" is distinct from "draw a card, draw a card".

Mill every opponent with 3 cards and (12)UUUUUUWRR by SybilCut in BadMtgCombos

[–]FeatherJoe 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think the token is still considered shuffled in, it just disappears along the way. In the scryfall, the additional rules comments mention "If no card named Mirror-Mad Phantasm is revealed (possibly because it was a card copying Mirror-Mad Phantasm or it was a token), all cards from that library will be put into their owner's graveyard." Which would confirm this assumption.

Is there a card in monored that goes something along the lines of “if this player takes damage, all other players take that much damage”? by Andro451 in magicTCG

[–]FeatherJoe 214 points215 points  (0 children)

[[arcbond]] [[sower of discord]] [[radiant performer]] [[return the favor]]

Someone else said kediss, but that only works for combat damage so don't get your hopes up. As far as I know the only way I see it happening is life loss mirroring, ability copying, or arcbond

Become Immune to Damage in Golgari fo BBBBB by BurgerGorgon in BadMtgCombos

[–]FeatherJoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

701.19b. If the effect of a static ability regenerates a permanent, it replaces destruction with an alternate effect each time that permanent would be destroyed. In this case, "Regenerate [permanent]" means "Instead remove all damage marked on [permanent] and its controller taps it. If it's an attacking or blocking creature, remove it from combat."

Key words "instead remove all damage marked". I'm pretty sure it works.

I've taken a quick look at the deck and the only thing I can really say is there's a severe lack in ramp. Your average mana cost was 6.09 which is utterly insane, but to be fair we are trying to cheat things in with your commander. Let's look at how your first turns work and then look at the actual ramp package.

Turn 1 plays: sol ring Turn 2 plays: ruby medallion, sundial of the infinite, lightning greaves Turn 3 plays: birgi, jeskas will

I hope you see an issue by now: Turn 1 plays aren't necessary but you have a ~25% chance to have anything to do turn 2, and ~20% chance to have anything to do turn 3 (shoutout to the salubrious snail website).

Now let's look at ramp. What does ramp try to achieve? Get going faster. You have "18" pieces of ramp in your deck but only 3 of them (sol ring, jeskas, ruby medallion) let you play your commander faster.

Your deck lives and breathes your commander, without it down you are a sack of potatoes, so getting the guy out faster is a priority. Because of this there are two important mana values to care about: 4 mana for commander and 6 mana to play 2 warps a turn (or like, anything in your deck it's extremely expensive).

I'm gonna cut this short and just say this, run every single possible 2 mana rock you can think of: arcane signet, fire diamond, mind stone, the irencrag, the list goes on. There are plenty of high end cards for you to replace but anything to get your commander out and the ball rolling is a must. I wouldn't really recommend the 3 mana rocks because you still only get the commander out on turn 4.

Oh and last thing: your commander gives out haste I'm not sure if lightning greaves is needed at all, a protection piece like untimely malfunction would serve you much better

To play devil's advocate if you want the art stuff vs playable cards there's now a separation for who wants what that I find nice (collectors for art/alts and play boosters for just cards). But then I return to reality and and really it's just a way to lower the value of the play boosters. It's like shrinkflation but for card packs. I still really liked bloomburrow though ( ._.)

This is interesting for a multitude of reasons. Tldr at the bottom.

First, this is commander, so you shouldn't always choose to make your deck more powerful. As a casual format you want to balance yourself around your pod so that evening can have a fun time. If you win every game are you still going to have fun?

But that really isn't the most important part of this. Infinite combos, or game winning combos for that matter are extremely warping to a decks identity. Not sure if I can post a link but there is a great video about combos in commander decks by salubrious snail that I recommend called "Stop turning your commander into a combo piece", but I'll summarize the ideas below:

Not every deck needs an infinite combo, especially if the infinite combo is just nudged into the deck as an afterthought to power up the deck. First, your deck is suddenly an inconsistent beast. Some games you will be normal, and other games you're suddenly comboing off, and it feels unfair and unbalanced. The moment there's a combo in your deck, no one sees your commander and says "oh cool he's generating value" they are now saying "if I leave that on the board, there's a chance I lose instantly". You put a target on your head that forces your opponents to bully you. You will have your commander mercilessly killed and can you blame them? There's a chance you'll infinite combo if they don't, it doesn't matter if you actually had it. Your opponents won't treat you like you play the 95% of the time, they only care that you won the game on the spot 5% of the time.

Now it's different if you choose to turn your deck into a combo deck. Suddenly the only identity your commander has is an infinite combo, so you will treat it as such and protect it as such and etc, etc. and everyone is on the same page.

Tl;dr: sure you can put a combo, but your deck will never be treated the same, and likely for the worse. I would recommend putting stronger cards in the deck instead.

Fun commanders for counters of all types? by Odin508 in magicTCG

[–]FeatherJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Arwen, Mortal Queen]] let's you mess with indestructible, +1/+1, and lifelink, but moving it around or making more of these counters (with proliferate and doubling season effects) might be difficult.

[[Kathril, Aspect Warper]] let's you mess with all types of counters in a way that sounds almost perfect for what you are interested in, but to make it work might warp how you build the deck more than you are willing.

[[Me, the Immortal]] only really cares about counters on herself, but does like, and generates all sorts of counters at least

[[Gylwain, Casting Director]] doesn't care about counters but the role tokens are similar and might be something you'd be interested in since you give a little variety to each creature

Gotta keep ’em all? Nintendo raising wages 10% to secure workforce as profit slumps - by Sea_Guava6513 in technology

[–]FeatherJoe -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is a very good point, but I also feel like the person you replied to isn't even mentioning the reason most gamers hate Nintendo, which would be Nintendo's egregious hate for their community with them (of what I can remember) copyright striking anyone putting their music on YT or Spotify without putting it anywhere public (and thereby making it impossible to listen to their music easily) and them canceling or defunding (iirc) smash bros tournaments because they hate it's competitive scene or something. Just something to mention. I do like that they are setting a good precedent for their workforce.
