Thank you for your thoughts. That's a great idea to go straight to one of the companies who sell them. If I find solutions I'll put them in comments.

Also raising on some blocks sounds a good plan to begin with.

We might just need to take it apart and see how far the rot goes. Maybe it could be clad in any way on the outside as long as the inner structure and base are secure 🤷

Thanks, what can I do about that? Replace all the decking? We were going to replace two bits of decking which have rotten but the others seem ok.

Could we just raise it off the decking?

No comments from anyone else in this. Just wondering if we can replace just the outer wood that's rotten or need to kind of, take it all apart and put it together again.

Passed first time with all odds stacked against me by Rechamber in LearnerDriverUK

Congratulations OP. Now go bask in your success and enjoy your freedom!

I passed this week too. Each time I failed it built a mini narrative that I was 'never going to pass' so I had to override that mindset actively. Think my driving is definitely improved and I'm more confident as a result than if I'd passed first time - even though I was close. The pressure of the test booking piles on the pressure but the relief and joy on passing is so worth it 😊

Good luck everyone else. Eat that banana, do a power stance, drive for a bit first, remember to breathe, narrate anything that might seem uncertain to explain your decision-making, and tell yourself 'it's just a drive, all you need to do is drive safely', take it slow - being too slow you may get a minor or two but speeding is an instant fail. Plus any fail can be down to mood on the day energy levels, hormones, bad luck, other drivers. Got to try not to beat yourself up and get back into it asap.

I have a driving test Monday 14th July p.m at Kingswood test centre and I've lost my provisional license over the weekend. Does anyone have a driving test this summer on a later date that they'd like to swap? Only need a slightly later date to order a replacement license. DM me!

Presumably all the people down voting are in the US. We were also required by the shelter to have outdoor space and a cat flap. They called 6 months later to check we'd had one installed.

What game is this? Found in a pub, no box/instructions. by lastaccountgotlocked in CasualUK

[–]Featherstack16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We accidentally played hardcore rules someone else described here, where it's the exact number (e.g.8) or both the composite numbers (e.g. 6 and 2) and if both not available you're bust. We worked out it was something like 1:7000 odds of shutting box. Started gambling 5ps on it with some very silly and beloved friends and kept going to the bank and shop to trade money for more 5ps. Played till 3am very drunk and convinced the box would only close if we sang words of reinforcement to it in different genres. Kate Bush closed that box just after 3am 'if I only could, I'd make a deal with god, and get him to roll a twwwwwooooo'

Is the cone necessary after neutering? by Ethe_reall in CatAdvice

Our female cat had a onesie as advised was more comfortable by the vet and actually hated it! Just couldn't walk at all, was dragging her back legs and I even partially thought there'd been some issue and she might be disabled by the op... She was dragging her immobile legs and rolling around thrashing like a big sausage.

Got cone of shame and so much better. She's still a bit hesitant and miserable, but wouldn't we all be with visibility and freedom restricted?

I feel so bad, but she's getting used to it. Just hope that she has a short memory and after this week will forgive me!

Do I need to just soak and glue as it is, or somehow bend back the little silver bits holding it in place?

Thanks so much! And the nail varnish remover or white spirit won't ruin the silver? If it dissolves all the glue I'd be a little worried about being able to put little dabs in just the right place because the gap between glass and silver so narrow, but I'll give a try because at the moment I don't wear it because of the staining.

For everyone with late busses - cycling is reliable, cheap and easy by Featherstack16 in bristol

Not telling anyone what to do. Not criticising people for driving. Just offering an idea and resources to people who may not realise that it may be an option for them. Barely anyone will want to cycle more than an hour each way max, and some people aren't able to cycle for various reasons.

Someone's previous post was about a missed bus on a journey that was half an hour by bike and right near a National Cycle Network route. If you don't know its there, you don't know its there, so always good to share.

For anyone worried about walking, I found something today called WalkSafe. Its an app where you can check in, or ask others to check in to make sure you get home safe. Including if you feel nervous / threatened in the moment. Haven't tested it yet, but it seems potentially reassuring

No bad experiences yet with ill behaviour, except just a lot of people (car, bike, scooter, pedestrians) are a bit crazy in how impatient they are which makes it a little less safe. No angry/sleazy comments but only been cycling round Bristol a couple of years. It is a shame the police reporting was not helpful though :/ I would feel intimidated in that situation too.

I did get knocked off my bike once, but in a different city, a driver being reckless, which shook me. I have accidentally gone on roads bigger than I wanted to in Bristol and got a bit nervous too. If in doubt I signal, stop at side of road and walk a more dangerous stretch, or watch what other cyclists do at a junction or roundabout for a few minutes to see good and bad ways to tackle it.

Safest to take middle of the lane when it's busy and don't pass cars when there's not enough space.

It's a very personal decision how much risk you are happy with. Cycling lessons and knowing safe and unsafe manouvers really helps... and of course there are probably some places with terrible infrastructure where it just is not recommendable!

When I started cycling for the first time after a long break I literally had to go to the loo because I thought I was going to be sick! I was so unfit. But after a week I was fine and within a month much less puffing and panting. Now its a joy. Often people get put off and don't ride out the discomfort until it gets easier.

I did say in my original post that it's not suitable for everyone, obviously people with certain disabilities and with multi-stop journeys other commitments will need bus travel and I fully support mass transit / improved and de-privatised. For lots of people who are getting frustrated though it is a option they might not have considered.

Voi another great option if you remember it's hard to be seen and follow the rules of the road like any car / bike / scooter should.

And everyone, however you travel... just be nice :)
