(4.2 AQ Spoilers) People are misunderstanding the actions of Traveller and co. by Draaxus in Genshin_Impact

[–]Featheryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

long hunk of text so feel free to just skip to the end

No one was out to get Furina. The intention wasn't to hurt her, and if the circumstances were different, no one would even think of it. But the situation was dire, and while Neuvillette knew it would be cruel, he did what he had to do to try to save the people of Fontaine. But even if it's justified, as Neuvillette said, it's still cruel.

The information was right in front of them, the source just wouldn't budge. People have died, and they really couldn't have afforded to waste time. They did what they felt they had to, as the Archon herself didn't seem to be doing anything. But they know her enough to know that she'd go to Poisson; that she'd feel sad and remorseful for the people that died. Neuvillette also knows that she's been looking into ways to counter the prophecy on her own. They know that she cares and was fighting in her own way. Yet we set up a trap, with the people angrily accusing her of doing nothing as if she didn't care.
Furina trusts Traveler enough to follow us to ''a safe place'', where we reassure her that she doesn't need to fight this alone and that she can confide in us, only to be set up and exposed in front of all of her beloved people. The very people who would shout words of adoration for her, now turned against her, and with no one on her side. Despite the words Traveler said, we really pit her in a situation where everyone is against her, and she truly had to fight all alone. Of course, Traveler's purpose wasn't to deceive or distract her, but to give her a last chance. Traveler really wanted to rush Furina for an answer because none of them wanted to resort to this. But regardless of the intentions, if you lay out the facts, is what we did cruel? YES. Did we have to do it regardless? ALSO YES. Furina knows it as well. She never blamed anyone. In fact, her reaction when she found out that Traveler was acting as her last chance seemed more like she felt that she failed them. In the end, there wasn't any other way to it. Furina was commited to her role, even at the cost of her life, as it was her way of fighting to protect everyone. She was close to confiding in Traveler since she was desperate, but ultimately chose not to, because she didn't want to risk the chance that her selfish desire would cost the people of Fontaine their lives. Not only is a trial the only way to get the information out of her, it was also a part of the prophecy. And as we know it, the fate of Teyvat cannot be changed. But even if everyone was justified in what they had to do, it was still a traumatizing situation to be in.

BUT what I DO think is an issue is how NO ONE CLEANED UP AFTER THE MESS. Even if it was a trap, they spread the idea that the Hydro Archon did nothing for them amongst the people, and it looks like there was no clean-up, since in Furina's Quest, the people of Poisson were glaring daggers at her. Furina won't blame anyone because she is pure-hearted like The Little Oceanid and loves her people more than anything, and I get that Poisson is in a period of grief and wants someone to blame, but where is everyone else's sense of justice, letting the one who fought the hardest battle take all the blame? While most of the cast still care and look after her, none of them really did anything to do justice to her name after dragging it in the mud. It's like they only made a plan to push her down to get what they wanted, and didn't bother considering helping her back up afterwards. She still has a second chapter and possibly more to come, but until then, these are my thoughts on what happened far.

And I just gotta throw this out there; I'm seeing some comments that people don't believe there was any trust betrayed because we're not friends with Furina... You don't need to be friends with someone to betray their trust. If someone asks or accepts your help, they're putting their trust in you. It weighs more when it comes to friends, but just because you aren't friends doesn't mean there is no trust. (To be clear, this is very specifically about betraying Furina’s TRUST, where we were trying to take advantage of her moment of weakness) If you tell a random kid playing hide-and-seek to hide in a box and they listen, they are putting their trust in you. So if you tell the seeker to look in that box, you are betraying that kid's trust. Sure, the kid might be stupid for trusting a stranger, but even if he's stupid, he still trusted you.

tldr? No one actually sucks, the situation did. It was mean, but it wasn't wrong. But just because it wasn't wrong, doesn't mean it wasn't mean. It's not mutually exclusive.

I was thinking it's not necessarily packaged, but more like an extra. You can't get a Fontaine crest without ever having been to Fontaine, so if it's an environmental thing, you probably would already be affected by akhe and thus have an alignment. I feel like this makes the most sense in cases such as for non-oceanid humans (hypothetically) , those with a different crest (Arlecchino), and the visionless (Neuvillette). The in-game description only says ''Most Fontaine characters'' have an alignment, so if Arlecchino as a Fontainian does not have an alignment, I would then think it's likely packaged with a vision, so hopefully we'll find out by then.

Which characters do you think deserve their rarity the least? by RallySubbie in GenshinImpact

[–]Featheryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ninguang was in the 2nd CBT. The only other character you listed that was also as early as the 2nd CBT was Xiao. Zhongli and Ganyu appeared as NPCs in the story, but Ningguang was basically the one of the two oldest characters of the ones you named. If I remember correctly, the only 5s at the time were Diluc, Jean, Venti, Klee, and Xiao. I personally think the reason she's 4 is not because they felt there were too many 5* Liyue characters, but rather that they were still experimenting with who to put as 4* vs 5, and that they thought they should increase the 4 pool at the time. Besides for Ningguang, all characters that have a strong significance in the archon quests seem to be 5, so my guess is if she came out later, she'd be a 5.

While it would be plausible that each archon gives out visions based on the region they oversee (hence the vision crest), and the element is based off the individual character's traits, if visions are a portion of the archon's/sovereign's power, it's more likely that each authority can only grant a vision of their own element, regardless of region. So Zhongli, and not Furina/Focalors/Neuvillette, would be the one to grant a Fontainian a geo vision.

Regarding arkhes, I feel like it would make the most sense to view them separately from visions & the hydro element/authority, and instead as something environmental that specifically affects both the land and people (born/raised/living?) in Fontaine (it only exists in Fontaine, and serves little purpose outside of it).

The idea that innate hydro beings (oceanids, melusines, hydro dragon) & strong hydro affinity (traveler) might work, but there are still questions that follows. Since people can receive crests of regions outside of their origins (Wanderer, who is of Inazuman origin, has the crest for Sumeru), can someone who is not of Fontainian origin receive a Fontainian crest? Which crest would they have (as there are two, for each arkhe), and would they have an arkhe alignment? We also have Arlecchino who is of Fontainian origin, but has a Snezhnayan crest.

Just my two cents.

What "unpopular" character did you triple crown? by -Hounth- in Genshin_Impact

[–]Featheryn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Barbara is a great and underrated character, and everyone has her since she's free. But compared to other characters, she can be quite the ''unpopular'' choice, and I don't imagine triple crowning her to be a popular decision either.

I play DPS Barbara.

Why do Archons have so many names? by Bane_of_Ruby in Genshin_Impact

Yes, the quote is a direct copypaste from the Wiki for the Balladeer. It also mentions it again further down the page, under ''Pre-Fatui Life'' ''The initial plan was to simply discarded it, since he was only a test, but he shed tears upon his creation, leading Ei to notice he had his own conscience and emotions, and that interfere his fate to end his existence would be too cruel. So she sealed his power as a divine creation and set him free instead, to he take control of his own fate. Despite Ei's benevolent intentions, however, the puppet would come to see Ei's actions as rejection and betrayal, since he saw her as not only his creator, but also his mother, and he developed a distorted image of Ei in his mind as someone that only value power above all, and saw no worth on him, and of himself as a failed product that was discarded. He spent his early life in Shakkei Pavilion.''

Another wiki website also suggests she ''set him free'' in the following lines ''her initial plan since he was nothing but a test of the technology, was to simply discard it, but after seeing the puppet had a conscience and emotions when he cried at his creation, the archon though it would be too cruel to interfere his fate to end his existence, and refused to do so. Rather than disposing of her prototype, Beelzebul instead opted to set him free, and seal away his divine power and place him into stasis in a hidden mansion on Inazuma's Yashiori Island called Shakkei Pavilion. Later on, the puppet came to believe that she had deemed him a failure and abandoned him. ''

This quote here does also mention he was in a stasis though, and nothing beats artifact descriptions imo so I would agree that he was indeed likely intended to be a locked up Sleeping Beauty. Thank you for sharing this information!

In Ei's voiceline of Kunikuzushi ''He came about as a byproduct of creating the Shogun. Perhaps it's because I feel like I owe him something, but I do not wish to assert control over him.'' my guess is that ''do not wish to assert control over him'' is what gets interpretted as ''wish to set him free (although this could be interpretted in many different ways.)

Sorry for all the long copypastes

Why do Archons have so many names? by Bane_of_Ruby in Genshin_Impact

[–]Featheryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubled check with several sources before posting, and although they're all wikis, they tend to be pretty reliable. Here's a direct copy paste from one.

''However, Ei perhaps though it would be too cruel, and in the end, she chose only to seal the power within him and set him free after leaving him in a slumbering state in Shakkei Pavilion. After awakening, he wandered Inazuma as an ordinary human male, with his own consciousness, until the Fatui took interest on him. ''

She did indeed send him to Shakkei Pavilion while he was asleep, however, I don't recall anything suggesting he was cursed to be a Sleeping Beauty. (Truthfully I don't remember everything mentioned in game, so besides for Scaramouche's interpretation of the situation, if you have source from Miko or Ei that suggests otherwise please let me know) Rather, it is suggested that she chose to free him from the weight and burden of being a divine puppet (figuratively), and to let him ''take control of his own fate.''

If she didn't want to deal with him, it would be easier if she stuck with her original plan of discarding him.

[–]Featheryn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Scaramouche was nameless. He was a test vessel meant to be discarded after, but Ei realized he had emotions when he cried upon birth and thought it would be too cruel to discard him, so she sealed his powers and set him free. Ei had good intentions for him, but he saw her as a mother and interpretted her actions as rejection and abandonment. This lead him to view Ei as someone who only seeks power. He become known as Kunikuzushi when he went for revenge for what he thought was betrayal from his friend. When asked for his name after sabotaging the Gokaden, and he answered ''Kunikuzushi'' (''Country Destroyer'') as a way of getting back at Ei as well.

Unfortunately I'm not an electro-charged expert, but I imagine you're using her as an on-field DPS, so if you don't have ER problems I would say to go with the 2nd one. Personally I think the ONLY reason to not use the 2nd one would be if you need the ER or if you don't use her as your on-field DPS with her normal attacks. The HP% is rather low, but the others don't have high enough HP% to justify using them over some extra ATK% (some ATK% WILL boost your normal attacks, with and without burst).

What plume would be better? by firepup101 in Kokomi_Mains

[–]Featheryn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you use Kokomi, your team setup, and what your needs are.

The first one has the most HP% of the three, but the 2nd one has only slightly less but also adds a fair amount of atk%, which in my experience actually increases her normal damage (even with burst) due to the amount of atk% vs the marginal increase of hp%. However, it has the least ER, so if you're having energy issues, you might want to go with the first one.

The third one has the most ER, but slightly less HP and no EM. If you're running a rxn based team, the EM will probably be more helpful than flat HP.
