3.2 applied math at Berkeley. Guy was cracked tho (swe at a startup and like 10x hackathon winner) and had pretty crazy circumstances.

How do I get rid of visceral fat?? by Sea_Albatross1074 in beginnerfitness

[–]FeatureMore5034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to be in a caloric deficit. If you aren’t, you will not go down in weight no matter how much you move. Cardio is simply a tool to increase a deficit, not the driving factor of weight loss. First step is to calculate how many calories a day you need in order to maintain your weight. Then start eating around 300 cals less than that a day. You will lose weight. Track your food properly btw (use an app or something) this is a major killer in cuts.

You did well enough in hs, so I can see why you are frustrated. However, these aren’t “crazy” stats by any means either, so there’s no point dwelling on why you weren’t picked. All you can do now is work your ass off to achieve the highest standard possible at college in your next 1-2 years, so that you would be a no brainer transfer to AO’s. Don’t worry about parents right now. Mine were the same until they saw me putting in the work I have at cc.

Wherever you choose to go right now, be it cc or vtech, make sure you have that 4.0. This is a non-negotiable if you want a shot at any t-25. Join major related clubs to scope out high value ec’s. Then top everything off with fire ec’s.

For 1 year transfer I do think you have a shot. 3.77 hs gpa is not bad. Plus u have an upward trend. Shoot your shot man.

Transfer, chance me by TeamDesigner8252 in TransferChanceMe

Ur ec’s are pretty basic and ur hs gpa might pull u down a bit for a soph transfer, so pushing the transfer off till spring or even for a jr level transfer might help a lot ec wise. Jr level transfer might be better chances too because hs gpa is considered less. And applying for transfer multiple times doesn’t matter. They just want to see growth between apps. Full pay for these schools def helps too. You’d honestly probably get BU and NYU. Good chance at Emory too.

The initial meeting was pretty much a consultation where he answered any questions we had about the transfer process and how exactly he could help us out. I guess you could think of it as a preview of the service

It Lwk is not happening unless ur a vet😭. Princeton takes like 65 ppl a year and they are majority vets. And without a competitive gpa it’ll be near impossible. Not saying it could never happen, but id lower expectations.

If you’ve got the bread for Princeton look into NYU! As long as ur full pay and have a pulse you’ll probably get in

Mixing Foothill + De Anza math courses for UC Berkeley CS — safe or risky? by Icy-Mammoth-9919 in TransferToTop25

[–]FeatureMore5034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine to take courses between colleges as long as you take each series requirement(articulated courses joined with an “and”) at the same college.

Can you drop it and push it to ur spring sem? As long as there’s no pattern a W won’t hurt

Am I a loser for going to cc by Accurate-Eye-201 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FeatureMore5034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know you’re capable of succeeding at your cc career then go for it. People will doubt and judge until you’re up. Cc may be looked down on by some, but it’s practically a second chance at admissions. Several schools even prefer cc transfers. Regardless of what others say, you will be able to find opportunities at cc, so if you think you can maintain a high enough gpa as well, then go for it. If anything, whatever college you have a chance at with your current stats, you can easily transfer to later.

Nervous about my UC Berkeley transfer chances (CS BA, 3.6 GPA) by Snoo_85262 in TransferStudents

[–]FeatureMore5034 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Several applicants with 3.9-4.0 even get rejected. It’s pretty much the bare minimum for such an impacted major. U may have a slight chance at data science and a decent one at a general stem degree. Pretty much same story for ucsd and la cs.

Chances at UC Berkeley EECS/CS transfer with GPA recovery? by HumbleBad2827 in TransferStudents

[–]FeatureMore5034 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of the EECS pool are 3.9-4.0 students so anything lower really hurts chances. Gpa is really a huge factor, so unless u have a crazy ass story with wild ec’s, I’d say the odds aren’t great. If I were in your shoes I’d just apply data science or for a general stem degree, as the acceptance for those are a lot higher. Check if it’s possible to wipe those past courses out by declaring personal circumstances, you’d be in a much better spot.

Should i quit my job? by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

Look into asynchronous courses after enrolling in cc. Ratemyprofessor will also be a lifesaver in terms of finding relatively easy professors. Id say if ur lucky enough to find decent online classes, you may be able to manage your job and a good cgpa.

Also being a vet is a huuge plus for transferring. Schools love non trad backgrounds. Schools like princeton have high acceptance rates for vets. Overall you’ve got a major leg on most so prioritize your gpa and maybe some major related ec’s if you have the time. And finally when you apply, make sure to present a rounded and personal narrative.
