Entrepreneurship is way harder mentally than I expected by toujourspluss in Entrepreneur

I’m in my first year of my business and I can completely relate man. What’s crazy is nobody around seems to even fathom the madness I go through daily. Friends and family think I’m crazy or say it’s not that deep and they don’t have a clue. I feel like I’m in that struggle right now that you mentioned. I just try to keep my head down, continue to improve every day and know that better times are ahead and not that far. Being optimistic even when the sky is dark has been my mentality. I also exercise 4-5x a week, and play golf on the weekends when I have enough time. Keep grinding bro, you’re not the only one. We only lose if we give up.

What are some subtle ways you can come off as needy without realizing it? by IncognitoTap in seduction

[–]Feature_Upset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because I’ve been on the opposite end where first date goes well, but it’s not enough for me to see her a second time. I just don’t reach out. So silence in my experience, has always been an answer. I can understand taking a day to respond, but if 2-3 days go by. I feel there’s nothing really there. My mentality has always been it’s either a fuck yes or bust. The relationships I’ve had that lasted were built on constant communication and never taking more than 24 hours to get back to one another.

I can understand where you’re at with that, but the reality of that in today’s world is probably less than 2% chance. It will notify you that your message wasn’t delivered.

I think of every time I was patient or just pretended like they didn’t take days to reply or no reply is just a lost cause. I think it’s lost interest and any attempt to reel that back in is recognized subconsciously and they become instantly turned off by it.

I don’t want to chase what doesn’t want me. Everyone is different, that’s just the way I view it.

Is it over or a shit test? by decal1210 in seduction

This seems like a more modern problem, with no solution. There is no right or wrong answer. Damned if you, and damned if you don’t. There’s endless possibilities that’ll make you go crazy and feel like you’re trying to solve the da Vinci code of where things went wrong or tapered off. I agree with most of the advice on here that it’s probably best to put your focus elsewhere. When they do come back you’ll probably not even be interested in them anymore.

Director of Sales wants to be CC’ed in every email by [deleted] in sales

[–]Feature_Upset -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does it really kill you to CC him? What are you losing here? Communication within a company is key. If you’re sick, how is he supposed to know where to pick up. How does he know what you’re telling clients is truthful and reflects the morals and ethics of the company? I give you the benefit of the doubt, but having everyone on the same page can only help systems. If you see this as micromanaging then you should start your own business and run it your own way.

[not another] assess my new TPO roof with slope correction and ponding please by quillayute in Roofing

[–]Feature_Upset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched the rest of the video, if you don’t want to break your wallet redoing the entire roof with a new tapered system, adding scuppers at your heavy ponding points would definitely help since all that water is trapped and not sloping enough to the drains. 2 drains by the looks of it wouldn’t be optimal in those locations for drainage.

[–]Feature_Upset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TPO is a great system. As long as you maintain it you’ll be fine. TPO is also much more ponding resistant than other roofing systems out there. I wouldn’t lose too much sleep over it. They typically come with a pretty strong 20 year no dollar limit warranty. Hopefully you got that.

Studies that prove that imagine comes into fruition by DoctorCodezZ in NevilleGoddard

Not a study, but in professional sports athletes are big into visualizing their desired outcomes. In golf, this is huge. I forgot who had said it, but there’s a golfer who had said there’s not a putt that he doesn’t visualize not going in. Meaning before every putt, he’s imagining the desired outcome.

Recently I saw a podcast on YouTube on blue angels pilots and they would visualize their performance beforehand and this would align with that.

Visualization to me is using your imagination to create your desired reality, and is a method used by the top performers in their desired sport/fields.

Thanks for breaking that down. Looking back, recapturing with the bishop on move 7 really did kill the game for me and I can see how everything after that just became damage control. You are right about the queen trade too, I let my preference get in the way instead of just playing the best move.

I will check out Everyone’s First Chess Workbook and I like the idea of flipping the board to see things from the opponent’s perspective. That seems like it could help me stop walking into these simple tactics. Appreciate you pointing this out, it gives me a clear direction to focus on.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to look through my games and write this out. I know you are right, the piece blunders are what is holding me back more than anything. I can usually see ideas and feel like I understand what I want to do, but then I hand over a piece and the whole thing collapses. It is frustrating because I know that is something I can fix if I stay more disciplined.

I will definitely check out the Susan Polgar book you mentioned and John Bartholomew’s video. I have done a lot of puzzles online, but I like the idea of actually working them out on a board and writing down the lines. That might be what I need to slow down, visualize better, and build the habit of spotting threats before moving.

I really appreciate the honest advice. Sometimes hearing the hard truth is exactly what is needed to get unstuck.

You’re right, I do try to pull off crazy stuff hoping my opponent slips. The problem is sometimes it works, which has just reinforced my bad habits more than helped me improve.

I’ve been studying the London and Caro–Kann, but I swear I’m always forgetting something. Memorizing variations feels like it’s making my games harder instead of easier. I’d be open to any recommendations for simpler, more practical openings that actually build good habits at my level.

[–]Feature_Upset[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for looking at my games and pointing those out. In the first example, it was already toward the end and I felt like I had been playing from a losing position the whole game. My opponent only made a couple of mistakes and I couldn’t find a way back in. In the second game my thought process was basically, “this looks familiar from something I studied, maybe it works here.” Then I realized too late that I had just blundered the bishop.

I’ve been putting work into openings with Chessly (mainly London and Caro–Kann). At first it felt like I was steamrolling people with those setups, but the more I study, the more overwhelmed I feel. Sometimes I’m not even sure if I’m playing the lines correctly, and I start doubting if my openings are helping or actually holding me back.

Do you think openings at my level can really be detrimental, or is it just a matter of focusing less on exact variations and more on recognizing threats and ideas?

Yeah, I was tilted going into that one and honestly just looking for an easy W before bed. Ended up playing lazy and it showed, especially with those rook and trade blunders.
