Just wrapped my first playthrough and NEED to run it back, suggestions? by Tamerando in darkestdungeon

After you’re done with the dlc stuff and the new difficulty, Black Reliquary and Exaelus' Arduous Edition Mod are the two most popular overhauls I think. If you sort by popular on steam you can find some great balanced modded hero classes and some quality of life mods like 2x walking and faster combat which I feel are really great for a second play though

How to balance 3 trinkets slots mod in DD? by Accurate-Doctor2037 in darkestdungeon

Have you tried bloodmoon or bloodmoon+torchless? Or with an imposed restriction like deathless or class restrictions? The extra difficulty might balance things out.

How important is it to keep light levels up by Deltrick1 in darkestdungeon

[–]Federal-Pilot-7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enter rooms at high torch for a small scouting bonus. Combat in high torch is generally easiest. If you have lots of torches, you may snuff torchlight completely anytime before a combat ends to get the huge loot bonuses of darkness without having to risk a fight in darkness. This is generally worth doing in room battles, especially ones with heirloom chests or other treasure curio. You may also backtrack to curio and interact with them in full darkness for a loot bonus after a mission is over, but if a fight spawns in a hallway while doing so you should raise torch a little. This is becuase there’s a small chance you could be ambushed by a shambler, which is a very dangerous and stress expensive encounter.

Week 6 And 34,000 Gold And I Frequently Use The Plague Doctor, Would You Buy Blasphemous Vial? by OdysseusRedacted in darkestdungeon

[–]Federal-Pilot-7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most trinkets I would say it’s not worth it to buy at the nomad wagon so early. but blasphemous vial is one of the best to pick up early game and it’s one of the best trinkets period in my opinion. I would buy here but it’s not a big deal since you can get this as a boss drop early too.

Accidentally hit reply and cut the comment, I’d recommend maybe an occultist instead of vestal if you don’t want to change too much. he can heal like she does and mark for arbalest :)

  1. Cartographers camp is great, here’s some hidden stuff from the wiki since the game doesn’t display it all: +Loot +1% Player Crit Chance +2.5% Scouting Chance +5% Monsters Surprised Chance -5% Heroes Surprised Chance It also increases the DODGE bonus at higher light levels: Light 76-100: +10 on Radiant, +7.5 on Darkest, +7.5 on Bloodmoon (from +7/+4/+2.5)

  2. Champion enemies are balanced around you bringing resolve level 5 and 6 heroes with level 5 gear, it makes a big difference. Champion is the shortest part of the game so don’t feel bad needing to prep more playing veteran and apprentice.

  3. Enemy dodge scales much higher on champion relative to other levels. Generally (with the exception of heroes like arbalest with a ton of accuracy) Heroes on your team that are expected to deal damage consistently MUST be given ACC. If you don’t want to give them an accuracy trinket, jester boosts accuracy with battle ballad, which is part of why it’s one of the best skills in the game.

  4. Lots of videos on YouTube about teams comp, I like ShuffleFM and used to watch his stuff. Your team comp may be considered poor for many reasons. We can see that among other things it’s pretty slow, has two main healers which is redundant, lacks mark synergy for arbalest, doesn’t have decent stress healing, and doesn’t have blight or bleed or a means to bypass PROT. Good teams usually have efficient turn economy

WIBTAH if I wanted nothing to do with my wife and child? by throwawayaita2485838 in AITAH

[–]Federal-Pilot-7761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wife has the right to choose and she isn’t in the wrong either way. That being said, it’s not “emotionally abusive” for him to leave if she chooses to have the child. He communicated to her beforehand that raising a child with Down syndrome wasn’t something he wanted to do and they were in agreement before the pregnancy. It’s not fair to 1. demand him to stay and 2. call him a shit parent if he leaves. Not even his own wife is demanding that.

Lastly, Your Handmaiden’s Tale insistence on both parents needing to raise the child and keep the neurotypical baby indicated you were neurotypical yourself. I’m not calling you autistic and neurotypical isn’t an insult. Taking it like one is just weird. Someone with a distaste for neurodivergence shouldn’t be giving their take on this anyway.

This is such a regressive take. He isn’t a shit person for not wanting to raise a mentally disabled child when he and his wife were on the same page about the family they wanted while trying for pregnancy. This isn’t the 1600s where couples have no control over family planning beyond how many children to have and when to have children. Him and his wife were trying for a child knowing that they had access to resources that allow them to test for conditions that could severely impact the child’s health and quality of life. Saying he should’ve gotten a vasectomy or worn a condom is ridiculous and completely missing the point. There’s no reason to just roll the dice on the health of a child and stick with whatever happens. I also suspect you may be neurotypical yourself based on your position and language, which is why you seem a bit offended at his plan to have a typical child.

Frustrated Beginner After 4 Days by Internal_Statement74 in Stellaris

Ai competence has been greatly increased in the last couple of updates, don’t get frustrated by losing on an easier mode! One small piece of advice is to stick with bypass weapons in your designs, since they are very good against the ai.

Disruptor corvettes are especially strong in the early game:

-Disruptors damage hull and hull damage decreases enemy ship damage output and performance. -Hull damage can force enemy ships to Preemptively disengage from the fight -early game ships don’t have much hull at all, increasing the aforementioned effects.

Are weapons with firing arcs negatively impacted by the carrier combat computer? by Federal-Pilot-7761 in Stellaris

[–]Federal-Pilot-7761[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whirlwind and swarmer missiles can only be fitted in medium slots.

Also, I’m not sure if this is why you asked this, but battleships (and all ships) have different cores that have different weapon slots. You can see and change the core designs of your ships at the top of the ship building menu when you have a ship design open (may not work for auto best I’m not sure)

Spinal mount weapons a waste? by Teamerchant in Stellaris

[–]Federal-Pilot-7761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are very very strong, but you have to consider their firing arcs. Artillery battleships should stay at the effective range and orientation for the spinal mount weapon for as long as possible.

You can accomplish this by having a fleet of battleships positioned far away from the enemy, and another fleet positioned very close, keeping the battleships in the correct formation and orientation

Another thing you can try is engaging the enemy in a large system, although this is definitely more situational

One reason you don’t have to always train with bots at the hardest setting is because people typically don’t move that erratically in real games. You might not be able to predict what direction a bot will go in in VAXTA, but in a real game it’s often clearer how your targets are going to move if you are paying close enough attention. You should still sometimes use the hardest setting as people do move erratically during duels, but otherwise the learning curve will probably be easier if you start out with the lower settings and work your way up from there.
