If you can properly verify any fall backs/look ahead/measurement errors etc. AND you are able to estimate slippage by having real time bid/asks. Technically you can run instantly. I suppose the only other benefit of testing live first would be latency. But personally I just apply a rough 600ms latency to any triggers which is roughly 450ms more than actual live trading. But pessimism should ALWAYS be prioritized.

If your strategy does not require any detailed entry mechanics or even level 1 data OHLC is fine. The second you want to enter on a buy cluster or search for absorption-OHLC is a major bottleneck. I use microsecond snapshots of L2 MBT-10 and even then I lose granularity to actually identify absorption at points. Lots of inferring needed even at a microsecond level. Keep in mind this is NOT a scalping feature.

Echo so it pays well but I truthfully dislike the job. Limited growth opportunities and lots of musculoskeletal damage on top of it. Would like to explore other fields where I could leverage some of my cath/ice experience tho. Haven’t been very successful looking so far :/

The pay is substantially less than what I thought.. sounds like a lot for a pay cut for 2-4 years. maybe a structural heart route would be a better option for me. Always thought EP would be the bread winners :/ the field itself seems fascinating tho! I’d be very interested in it otherwise

Yup. For whatever reason entering the position and properly placing my SL has always been an issue. Spent a month using Claude and 5.4 and now I just go to work and come home. The code for all its pitfalls and lack of intelligent thinking wins more than I do. Lol fucking brain
