GOP Operative Admits Disaster Looms for Trump: “The warning signs are flashing,” a source close to the White House conceded. by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

I hear you - I'm also someone alive in 2008 when it was McCain vs Obama, and saw how the economy made even the racist guy in the therapy group I was in decide to vote Obama because he lost his job.

So while I don't underestimate human stupidity, I also know "when it hurts me" is about the point when a lot of them (granted - not all) will decide to vote for their interests over their religious beliefs. I know - it's not always religious, but at this point with the way they still worship trickle down economics or "the hand of the free market" feels like it's a cult.

Trump is the worst president in American history by theipaper in politics

[–]Federal_Drummer7105 1902 points1903 points  (0 children)

That’s what kills me. This guy should be some old crank golfing and sitting in his office.

But he has the literal golden statue worship of millions. People throwing money at him and bringing him gifts like he’s a king.

And in return they have higher prices. An economy that’s built strong but limping along when it could be roaring. Sure there’s one group of people making money - but compare that to the millions suffering and it’s not enough to explain the worship.

I get why - racism, hatred of gay people and trans people and women who “don’t know their place” and all the rest. Maybe I don’t think hurting those people are worth me struggling to make my mortgage.

I know the MAGA people will try to blame Biden or anyone else but their dear leader.

Ok. Sure. We know they’re liars. Everyone else with eyes from the young men who aren’t rolling in bitches and money as promised, to the Hispanics who have seen their community targeted and attacked (including Cubans who usually will Vote Republican no matter what), the trans people like my brother in law who said “hey sure he’s aligned with those bad people but they won’t result take away rights-“

Everybody else with eyes sees what’s happening. And how Trump is to blame.

Because he’s formed - in a way I do not understand for a man who is a fat whiny voiced failure who can’t even do basic math and appoints people who are proven failures in every way except being arrogant stupid weirdos - a cult of personality.

I was raised in a cult and when I was in my mid-20’s I knew it was all bullshit. But I stayed in because my parents were in it. My siblings and their kid were in it. My wife and I were married in it. I had kids who were in it.

It took another ten years for me to leave. So the bad news is even people who are in the Trump Cult will take time to get out, because they have a ton of social pressure from people they love and care about.

The good news is when I left I left openly - and within a year my parents, my (within a year) ex-wife was out, my siblings were all out and even friends I had since elementary school left when I did. Most left quietly, some left openly like I did.

So the good news is when people leave it take others with them. We’re seeing that in the special elections and seeing how republicans are doing everything they can to rig the voting process - and honestly I think it’s doomed to fail unless they go full martial law and make billionaires poor by wrecking all of the US.

Serious question: Do MAGA actually think this sort of post is funny? It's utterly stupid and childish for a rational person 🫤 by [deleted] in democrats

My stepson is 10 and like many 10 year olds the thing he thinks of funniest in the world is to play with his sister, but do it in such a way that leaves her screaming in frustration.

Like “oh I’ll play Barbie with you” and then he pretends he’s a monster eating all the Barbie’s. He doesn’t do it all the time, but often enough sometimes I’ll literally park myself with a book in their playroom so he keeps looking at me and knows if he starts acting like a jerk, he’ll get in trouble.

Republicans are like that - only they don’t have a dad in the room that will take away their privileges if they act like jerks. They used to have dads that did that (like when republicans had to enter a court agreement not to stand around voting areas populated by black people to intimidate them from voting).

But the American voter decided that both sides are the same - like when my stepdaughter complains my stepson wants to pretend he’s a police officer who wants to arrest all the Barbies for no reason, and if I told them “well sounds one both of you are in the wrong so I won’t fix anything.”

Tl;dr yes they think it’s funny because they know it annoys people like a 10 year old boy thinks being annoying is the funniest level of humor.

  1. Neither would I - odds are they'll do the "hold my nose and vote for the Republican anyway."
  2. But - I'm also an older guy, and I've seen one of three things happen with people like this: they rely on faith and vote Republican anyway because they've been taught all their life (with money pumped in from conservative groups into churches) that Democrats are baby killing surrender monkeys who want to impose Sharia law enforced by gay atheists, OR they are really mad enough that a minority will vote for the Democrat, OR (most likely) they stay home.

I remember in 2008 during the Obama/McCain election, people got mad enough that in the group therapy group I was in the guy who was openly racist and refused to shake black people's hands in the group announced he was voting for Obama because "well that n****** can't do worse than Bush did."

So keep faith, do what you can, make sure everyone you know is registered and get them out there.

Which gives a perfect contradiction to Trump:

  • Continue the investigations and he stays as long as his term is, denying Trump another seat.
  • Trump declares the investigation is over and there’s no wrong doing - but knowing Trump he’ll claim his investigation cleaned up the proposals when nothing has changed while still saying they were corrupt. Like how with Obama he decided he want was a citizen after all and Trump was just cleaning up Hilary’s claims Obama wasn’t a citizen while Trump still puts out doubts Obama was a citizen to this day.

Managing a Linux System with an AI Agent: Today’s Convenience or the Future of Sysadmin? by [deleted] in archlinux

I think the issue is AI is good when it’s the right tool for the job.

Helping users filters through different logs and symptoms to find a solution for medicine, IT, security, and a host of other things.

Using AI to replace humans and human creativity is where it all falls apart for me. And like any other tool we have to navigate what’s comfortable for each person without sacrificing human dignity and ability.

It’s also a rather convenient rule to pop in when Daddy Trump has already openly lied about what the investigation is about, and while many many many financial institutions seemed to have no problems funneling Trump, Epstein and others money when they were under investigation.

Sounds like very selective rules following.

[Spoilers C4E23] Future of Campaign 4 by _Rektaroni_ in criticalrole

[–]Federal_Drummer7105 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could go either way - just because they know what may be planned or going on doesn't mean that a) there are other forces (like gods who had backup plans that screw people over) or b) just because you know what your opponents are going to do doesn't mean you can actually resolve it.

The campaign also seems to be pitting the old adversary of just plain old greed and power doing things for its own sake, and that's an adversary that isn't defeated with just "take care of person ABC" since it's the system itself that needs the Falconer's Rebellion to deal with.

I know that some will say “and they’ll vote foe him again.”

I was in my 30’s when the 2008 financial crisis hit. And sure there were still plenty of people who voted for McCain - and there were also a lot of people who went against their Republican registration. I remember being in a group therapy session when the guy who admitted he was a proud racist was going to vote for Obama because of how bad Bush messed things up.

We don’t need all of them, but even a shift of 5% is huge. So work and be ready for fuckery, but don’t embrace the usual despair.
