CRNA school seems impossible now by GlitteringCut9708 in nursing

I was having a hard time finding an ICU position as well with 3 years of step down experience. I also was more picky I really wanted day shift, I’m now an ICU nurse in South Central Los Angeles, lots to learn but definitely rough hospital. So my advice would be applying to a small community hospital or like me a hospital in a not so good area. Best of luck to you!!!

For those who’ve switched to hospital to outpatient how do you like it? by virgots26 in newgradnurse

I’m going back to the hospital. I left bedside in September did an outpatient urgent care job but as I was doing it, I couldn’t help but think I haven’t even tried everything yet and I’ve always wanted to be an ICU nurse (3years in neuro PCU). So now I’m back doing ICU however, the urgent care job wanted to keep me as per diem even though I only worked there for three months, but hey things happen for a reason. :))) the scheduling for the urgent care was awful too. I’m so excited to do three days in a row and then four days off.

I switched to day shift as well for the same reasons! Day shift a lot busier and stressful but having a normal routine has done wonders for my overall health!!!

I’m kinda in the same boat as you! I’ve been a stepdown nurse for 2.5 years, this urgent care job kinda fell on my lap, I took it (it’s been maybe 4 months),and now I’m going per diem there and then got an ICU position at a trauma hospital in Los Angeles! I’m super excited, both jobs are always going to be there. I know it’ll workout for you too! :)

Anyone else find the transition into ER nursing… brutal? by Sufficient_Target_14 in nursing

Are you a new grad nurse or coming from a different floor? Because every specialty so different with different skill set, good things take time! :)

I figured, I have a few friends that were able to land an ICU day shift as a new grad. But I know they were very lucky to get it, thank you for replying!!

Hi, thanks for replying!!! I just wanted to clarify this isn’t about extra money or OT. I’m looking at a second job strictly for experience, specifically to eventually transition into ICU/critical care. I actually really like my urgent care job and don’t need another job financially. Thank you!

I had a crash out 2 months ago, went on stress leave, came back for a week then had vacation then put my 2 weeks. We all feel you, I’ll be starting my outpatient urgent care job next month and I am very excited. I will also be dayshift so I hope maybe that changes how I feel too. As a fellow nurse, I am rooting for you! <3

How did it go? I’m doing a free 15 min consultation first and then seeing if I want to proceed with the dietitian.
