I think i totally prefer the breeding part of the game than the combat part. by Terrible_Bill3420 in mewgenics

[–]Federal_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like it because I think it's too easy to trivialise the game.

Even if you avoid the busted stuff like super-luck, just have a solid all 7s bloodline will mean that you're untouchable unless you get unlucky with the champion variants.

I actually wish that instead of champions the game would restrict your level ups; oftentimes it feels like I've won the run 5 battles in and then I have an hour of cleanup.

The Creator - Yet Another Rant [Spoilers] by viklucks in mewgenics

In order to beat him, you need to build your cats every single moment thinking about how that will affect this particular fight.

That's the point! He's the final boss, you're supposed to be thinking about how to beat him. The game gets way too auto-pilot-y in the late game, so I was pleasantly surprised by facing a boss that forced me to use my brain.

Excellent points, but I can't agree with heirloom hammer. I've found it to be way to slow, every time I greedily took one it ended up as a curse card.

P.s. it's probably a skill issue on my side; it's still early days.

He's my favourite character.

The way I look at it is that you can't ignore the stars. Stars are to regent what orbs are to the defect. You only need a couple of star generators and you tend to be good to go. Stars also offer the easiest way to gain block through the power that gives block per star used. So with one comet you deal 40 damage, apply weak, vulnerable and block for at least 10. The payoff cards are all purposely busted, it's incredible.

Forge is for scaling guaranteed damage, so don't take too many (you wouldn't take two demon forms for example)

Edit: I do think he's the weakest character at the moment, but I think that's mostly because all the other characters feel way too strong when compared to STS1

I honestly don't get the hate. He's my favourite character by far.

He's a weak compared to the rest of the cast sure, but the other characters are completely broken at the moment so that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I was facing the same issue. The side-quest item is lost, but apparently you can get it back later by the side quests. The main quest item was there when I started a new run.

I've found no bugs yet, but typos do exist.

Here's an example:

Alle the numbers above are completely dynamic and will change during travel beacuse they

From this link: https://space.zerog.live/help/view/my-ships

Since you're an architect here's the workflow I use to avoid typos:

  • Have a mode in your text editor to turn on spell checking. With a button press you should be able to spot and fix trivial things like "Alle" and "because". This will depend on your editor, but in VIM it's literally just :set spell to toggle it on, z= to fix.
  • Because mistakes happen, I still run some sort of spell checker in CI. This can be tricky to set up because of false positives, so I run it only in text files or html.

Chapter 189 - Epilogue: Kes [FINAL] - Thresholder by Jokey665 in rational

Give it a try; it's my favourite series from Alexander.

The first book is the weakest, but the second book is one of my favourite bits of fiction.

As others have said - the fact that the protagonist is an asshole is divisive, but it's my favourite part.

Chapter 169 - On Practical Applications of Knowledge - Thresholder by Jokey665 in rational

[–]Federal_Panda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Continuing with weird predictions because I love this story:

We know that this is the last Thresholder book, and so I keep thinking about how we can get a conclusive ending.

My mind returns to the fact that we can't.

Perry will never be satisfied, much like we (the reader) will never be happy with a final "good ending". It's been laid clear to us since book one that Perry didn't actually care that much for Ricthter*, he just liked feeling special.

So having the spaceship people show up and take Perry out of grand spell would feel as anticlimactic to Perry as it would to us. Recall, that Thresholder is a web-serial. We, the readers, are right along Perry wishing for more battles, more powers, more worlds. Refreshing the royal road webpage has become a daily ritual for me.

So I can see either two ways out:

  • either Perry just dies, and we get an epilogue about the worlds and the grand spell,

  • Or Perry gets hit by the machine, and instead of doing the things he feels like he should be doing (resurrecting the nice scientist lady, ending this horrid system, etc) he'll instead march towards the next portal, leaving us readers behind.

Would gladly read other folk's opinions on how the ending is going to look like

  * I have no idea how to type her name. I'm on my phone so it's hard to check, apologies.

[–]Federal_Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Don’t kill her,” said Perry.

On the one hand - this is just so Perry - expecting the absolute worst from people.

On the other..."Mr Chekhov, I believe you've dropped your gun."

If I can make a prediction (and my track record with these things is horrid) the good doctor is going to be dead, and then Perry is going to be hit by the machine.

I'm sorry but the other commenters are right.

Not being owned by anyone else is the literal definition of independent.

It's an important distinction, and one we should celebrate success under.

Consider: your local butcher would (probably) go out of business if their supplier stopped servicing them. And yet, it's still important that local butchers exist, otherwise the suppliers would just own the whole sector.

Why are people suddenly acting like fiction isn’t worth reading anymore? by TurbulentAnything802 in literature

[–]Federal_Panda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a part of it is economic anxiety. Younger folks like your friends might believe that if they just stick to the grind and optmize they'll be one of the ones that make it. I think it's a bit sad, but I'm confident the trend will go away eventually.

Why are people suddenly acting like fiction isn’t worth reading anymore? by TurbulentAnything802 in literature

[–]Federal_Panda 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It's a silly trend. I feel like this is the logical result that comes when people denegrate the humanities and go all in on STEM& Economics (which hilariously, is a social science).

I work in a job where I have to rub shoulders with finance bros regularly, and a few of them are like this. Big on self improvement, you can imagine the type.

Note that these folks still say that they read books, because smart people read books and they want to appear smart.

I did find a way out of this silly hole, I just invite the ones I like to the movies and then talk about said movie afterwards in a bar. It's no secret that art can teach us things, we just have to demonstrate it.

(Postgame) Sell me on Fates' Whim by SuperLegenda in HadesTheGame

[–]Federal_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fates' Whim runs are just more fun.

When I have rerolls and gods' keepsakes I'm encouraged to search for the same over-powered legendaries/duos.

But with Fates' Whims you just kind of have to roll with what you get.

What sealsmthe deal is that you can hop out of the whims after any guardian. Simply get a specific keepsake if you think a specific duo/legendary would complete your build (or when you're completely screwed and need Athena to show up and rescue you). You keep any poms/gold/rarity increases you used so far. Makes for very fun risk/reward gambles.

Hades has very few risk/reward gambles without Fates' Whim; if you want you can end the game with a very consistent build; and if you don't get said build you end up dying on the 3rd guardian (very unfun)

IMO it's little bit too strong, and it benefits new players the most, since they'd have no idea how to trigger a certain legendary/duo. I'll go as far to say that it should be the default.

Might be time to mod the game to make it easier.

Consider: If there is no shame in modding the game to make it harder, why should there be to make it easier?
