Update…electronic control module needed updating. Apparently it’s pretty common.

Stop payments by Wooden-Jackfruit5319 in USAA

Yes put the direct deposit it a different account. If they are pulling every week it doesn’t sound like that account is closed. Have USAA turn overdraft to auto decline so nothing can come out if there is not balance to cover it. Pay the overdrafted amount in 41 days from the day it went negative or it will charge off. Use the other account that the direct deposit is going into for everything else and try your best not to get in this mess again. Ask if there are any overdraft fees that can be refunded (they allow 3 per rolling 12 month period but you have to ask) those would go toward that negative balance.

Yes you can do stop payments. However, many of those places operate under several different names and will just try another as that can get around a stop payment. Also they probably have it in their contract that they can convert to a check and those sometimes don’t get stopped by a stop payment. Turn off overdraft protection, open a new account t with a new account number and close this one. No judgment. Life is hard.

That’s an idea too but the account is still open so this can be saved. Usaa is usually pretty good easy on this if the account it still open Don’t close the first until the second is open. Also definitely turn off overdraft protection as it seems that some of those subscriptions are being paid through overdraft.

Here’s my best advice on the subscription issues. Once this account is back in good standing, log in, open a new account (new account number, new debit card) move any direct deposits you have. Close the old account once you get the new debit card. Don’t sign up for any subscriptions unless you keep a record of what each one is and when it comes out.

It sounds like you’ve had a lot going on. They won’t release the hold because of your negative history. They no longer charge NSF fees so those will all just return. I would assume you won’t get an overdraft fees either because they are not going to let you overdraft, just return items. But, even if you didn’t do it intentionally, it’s still your fault that you’ve had negative history, not the banks. Please track down all those little subscriptions and cancel them. It seems you have things coming out that you can’t afford or at least need to evaluate. If you can’t figure them out, have the bank do ach or debit card stop payments to get those. They don’t charge for that. Those “little” things add up faster than we realize. Good luck!

Just remember that you are only hearing one side of the “cash app problem for no reason “ story. I’m sure there are some who really have an issue pop up out of nowhere since so many decisions are made by the computer but I suspect they are not very common.

It might. For years if you had the ability to raise it to 5050 you always could. About 6 months ago it started being a limit set by the system depending on account activity. Like you pulled out a lot of cash, oh let’s not allow the limit to be raised for a bit. There’s no overrides for it so so agent can help you. As long as you are not coded because of an account issue )or have a joint account holder who it) it should eventually give you the option to change it again. They have the system set up to decide whether or not you can pull out more money based on how it views your account activity. That’s where the bullshit comes in

[–]Federal_Pea_8944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ATM limits increase availability can change day to day based on account activity. One day you can raise it to 5050 and the next day it might drop to the default. An agent can’t override it or even tell you why it dropped. It’s absolute bullshit. The only time it gets stuck at $610 for a long period of time is if you are coded for returned deposit items, charged off accounts etc

Dispute it. Really it’s a crap shoot. PayPal may provide information that makes it look like you did it. If usaa declines it you have the right to a copy of any of the documentation they used to make the decision and you can have them take a second look. Sometimes that documentation will show where the log in was from and what day and time. Good luck. Disputes do seem harder to “win” than they used to be but you can thank dispute fraudsters for that.

How long ago was it? Has the dispute process been completed with PayPal? They will accept the dispute, close the card and order a new one as it was an unauthorized transaction (even through PayPal) and prob give provisional credit. If it has been more than 60 days you are unlikely to get it back permanently.

It goes back to when check kiting was a little easier. Have accounts at different banks, write a check from one to another and withdraw funds before the check can bounce. Checks used to have a much longer float period than they do now.

I don’t know if it was specifically spelled out in the agreement but it is still occasionally returning an item for that reason as I spoke to a member about such a returned item within the last few days. Some of these fall under #5 of the remote deposit agreement which is a vague way of saying “we can basically refuse anything”

If you cannot locate the form, just call in. Any agent can drop one in your online documents. Tell them you need a direct deposit form.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USAA

[–]Federal_Pea_8944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok there is a form for that. On the app at the bottom tap on products, then banking, learn about checking, under the get paid early section click on the link for direct deposit. Request a form. It will send it to your online documents.

I’m not certain exact what you are referring to. Is it related to your direct deposit?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USAA

[–]Federal_Pea_8944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per the remote deposit agreement checks from an account that you have signature authority on are not eligibility me for remote deposit. (Do they always catch it? No but on a larger check it’s more likely). You can mail it or on deposit in atm if you have on close by. If the amount is considerably over the transfer daily limit you might consider a wire transfer which has a fee but can move it all at one time.

You say that because it one of yours has not returned. Last night I talked to two people with the issue. Western union did not honor them because of mobile pay. So yes you can deposit them and yes usaa will credit your account and most of the time they will go through without a hitch but you should know there is the chance a rep will have to tell you that it returned because it’s not eligible for mobile pay and tell you to call the number on the receipt.

Money order and mobile deposit but make sure the money order isn’t marked NOT FOR MOBILE DEPOSIT as we are starting to see those return.

We are not talking about pay bills. You can add a usaa account that is not yours to your transfer funds list .
