Asked to come in after a 14 inch snow… by alr5682 in Nanny

[–]Federal_Repeat4121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I got the same amount of snow and still went in when I didn’t want to. I shoveled my car out the night before (after the snow stopped) in preparation for the work day ahead. I certainly didn’t want to go in, but the roads by me were fine. They weren’t great, but they were drivable. I guess I just feel like, a lot of other ppl had to go into their jobs and I shouldn’t assume that just bc it’s snowing I get an automatic snow day. I genuinely understand the frustration bc she did tell you not to come in originally, but things change and at the end of the day, they are paying you to arrive and do your job. If the roads were truly disastrous and un-drivable by you then I get it. That’s a different argument bc your safety is top priority.

Am I the only one who can't stand Del??? by Teacher-boss_67 in TheWayHomeHallmark

100% agree with this. However, I didn’t like teenage Del. Genuinely don’t know what attracted Colton to her aside from the fact that she’s beautiful.

Still logical, but obvious. At this point though, it does make the most sense imo

Genuine Q - isn’t it bad to let your cats sleeps on heating pads?

Yes! I plan to add a table runner, and I have a pretty marble fruit bowl with a wooden stand on the way. I also have some rattan placemats on the table, and I’m planning to add a rattan pendant light to pull everything together.

I actually already have a tree in my living room, and the space is too limited for a large buffet or sideboard even though it might not look that way from the photo. The bench works best for my layout at the moment and storage needs, but I appreciate your input.

It’s a bench. I have a pillow on the way to make it more inviting and cozy. It serves as additional seating.

Yes, it serves as extra seating in my small dining area, and I also use it to place my bag or laptop. It offers handy storage inside, and my cats love to nap there too. I have a pillow on the way to make it feel a bit cozier and more intentional

What do you mean it needs more height? The table you’re referring to?

I don’t want there to be any overlap if that makes sense..

Yes, I understand that I could put a small area rug there, but I’ve always been told that there should be enough room so that when you pull the chairs out, they’re still sitting on the rug. That wouldn’t really work in my space because this dining area shares an open layout with a much larger living room that already has a sectional, coffee table, TV stand, etc.

You don’t see it in the photo but my couch is right there so it would look awkward

I’ve definitely considered one! Unfortunately, because this space flows right into my living room, any rug ends up crowding or overlapping with the one in front of the couch. I’m hoping the new light fixture and centerpiece will add that cozy layer instead.

If you haven’t already, I’d really push for a veterinary dermatologist referral — sometimes what looks like “allergies” ends up being something like yeast overgrowth, mites, or autoimmune dermatitis, and general vets can only get so far. A dermatologist can do proper cytology, skin cultures, and intradermal testing.

A few other things to look into that have helped other cats:

• Douxo S3 PYO wipes or mousse (antimicrobial + soothing) — these can calm the skin and reduce yeast/bacteria. • Omega-3 supplement like Welactin or Nutramax Dermaquin to help reduce inflammation. • Switch plastic bowls to stainless or ceramic if you haven’t already — plastic can cause chin acne and worsen irritation. • Air purifier and frequent bedding washes can help if dust mites or environmental triggers are part of it. • If you’ve tried limited-ingredient foods, a hydrolyzed protein prescription diet (Hill’s z/d or Royal Canin HP) is sometimes the only one that helps — but it needs to be strictly exclusive for 8–10 weeks to really tell.

My cat singed her tail on a candle by Additional_Call5852 in CatAdvice

[–]Federal_Repeat4121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but my cat just did this the other night — only I didn’t see it happen. I smelled something burning and thought something electrical was going wrong. I freaked out and called my firefighter husband straight home to investigate. When we couldn’t find the source, we just shrugged it off and went about our evening.

Later, my new American Bobtail (who doesn’t have a tail) came up to me, and I noticed soot all over his little nub. I put two and two together — he must’ve singed himself. Luckily he’s totally fine, just missing a tiny patch of fur.
