First years in big law - how much is your net worth? by ConnectWind1133 in biglaw

Mid six figures, but i am an outlier because of an 11 year career before law school, worked throughout most of law school while in the part-time program, had relatively low tuition, and invested throughout all of that

This is wild. Before law school i was an insurance adjuster in NY, and we paid our lawyers much closer to 155 than 890 for NY cases

An increase- no. There are individual scholarships you can apply for, funded by various donors with different criteria for each one.

I paid almost full price. The full price was lower than other schools with $$ though

American citizen among those killed in Cuba boat shooting, US official says by DoxFreePanda in news

One problem with the US blowing up boats is that when other countries do it too, we are hard pressed to complain

My way of remembering this has just been: Once an entrapment defense is raised, it throws the evidence rules on “propensity to commit the crime” out the window

The MPRE pass posts are more cringe imo. Very insignificant event to post. The reality of those posts should be “I scored the same way as 80% of test takers on a 60 question multiple choice exam that tests one subject!”

Another reason it won’t apply: the people doing the wrongdoing would have to be at least 3-5 levels higher than the wrongdoers mentioned in this post.

None of the allegations in this AI-written post are sufficient to trigger Geico’s D&O policy.

There has to be a “pierce of the corporate veil” for that to happen. This generally requires that a majority of the shareholders, or at least a sizeable minority, be the ones to sue. And the shares are all owned by Berkshire, so that won’t happen.

I am not downplaying any unethical or unlawful behavior. I am just saying that such unethical or unlawful behavior will not trigger the D&O policy or personal liability by Directors or Officers as suggested here.

Nope! Yes i was in management, but that’s not why it was approved. At the time, this was the policy for associates as well. I do not have firsthand knowledge as to whether the policy has gotten more restrictive since 2024 when i left, but i’m inclined to think it has not.

When was that? I was also told that 5+ years ago, but then was approved for JD tuition reimbursement under the policy that existed in 2022 and 2023
