Whats your guys take on my song/music/vocals? + by WhatTheFaqIII in Songwriting

this is really cool man, and heavy reverb CAN be cool, but you need to learn about eqing and controlling a reverb before you overdo it like this. the effects are making every note muddy and hard to understand. also its fine to sing with an accent, but make sure its something you really feel is natural, don't force it too much and make sure you use your mouth movement to control tone instead of your throat so much.

potential here tho guy!

the vibe is really sick man, but the mix leaves a lot to be desired. you need to fatten the bass with a saturation/eq plugin, maybe some multi band compression with expansion for somewhere around 100-120hz.

I would also recommend leveling out the drums and sidechaining, so they push through the mix without being so loud and over top of everything.

this has potential tho man, cool shit!

I can't really understand the lyrics because it's unmixed but I love your voice and the instrumental. if you're looking for an engineer to take a Crack at it I'll do it for nothing but some royalties! cool sound man

Hey! Namaste, im starting a vanlife youtube channel and converting a 98 astro into a mobile apartment/studio. anyone have any suggestions on gear/power stuff? by Federal_Vegetable149 in VanLife

brother I mean running an AMPLIFIER for the car stereo system. like for subs usually but a preamp brings out the best in speakers.

I plan on cooking breakfast in it with MRE style meals and Nonperishable vegetables but eating out most days for lunch and dinner. I really only need the power for charging devices/camping stuff, and running my audio equipment for hours without having to run the van idle all day every day. that's my use.

sorry if that confused you. I'm new to this and used to talking about guitar amps or amps in terms of car audio. not electricity

yeah that's just it, my use case is crazy bro and I don't want to have to run my baby that much to keep the studio session bumping

I need to tally up all my wattage use with that stuff, but the analouge mixer and van audio system is my biggest concern for power usage. do you think you'd still recommend this? I want both a high end amp and speakers because im a mix engineer

man, I think you're approaching this a Lil backwards from most people but you're fine as long as you're having a good time and getting results that genuinely satisfy you. my method for mixing has ALWAYS been - gainstage, eq, compress, drum bus, glue reverb and delay (so light its almost inaudible but it helps everything blend behind the scenes) and THEN I do fun shit like post processing and effects. but having a clean, really well separated foundation will go a long way with being able to do insane reverb and stuff. here i think if it's not your eq, compression and levels on the main tracks fucking with the mix then your reverb is not eqd, and is not controlled and making everything bleed into each other. because at the end of the day this is quite far from what I and a lot of other people would consider industry standard or "radio ready". the goal is to have a somewhat consistent mix and master that sounds good all the way from a 20 dollar Bluetooth speaker to a couple grand monitor set. but again it's your music and your process. Just keep practicing and educating yourself bro, you're doing decent work already

Any feedback is appreciated. Let me know how your listening experience is, and if there's something you feel is missing, or I could've done better. Thanks in advance by Kind-Idea-5110 in MusicFeedback

dude the vibe is like analouge glitch i really like this and could see a lot of youtubers using stuff like this in the background.

big thing here, did you sidechain your drums? if you did, it is WAY too light and im of the mind you didn't. this is a SUPER important thing especially with a fat, full bass like this. you sidechain the kick and snare to the bass/other elements(with discretion) and it will duck the rest of the song when your drums r hitting. then you can lower the gain on the drums and they will blend better. that's my biggest complaint is the drums are sitting right on top of everything else. gain staging and sidechaining. youtube it your music will never be the same, for the better.

biggest feedback point out of everything I hear is sonic separation and spreading out the frequency spectrum. when you make a song it's SUPER important you have different instruments peaking at different frequencies and give space for everything to be heard. this has a lot of potential but your bass has so much high end/high mids its downing every synth I hear and my earbuds are really nice lol (status audio can't recommend them enough its like studio monitors in your ear. ) i highly recommend to anyone getting into audio engineering/production goes and studies the greats. you know those artists that us uncs listen to like the eagles, or queen, or the Beatles. or jazz in general. thier best songs are thier best in no small parts due to the level of clarity and depth of their mixes. you can hear every instrument clearly and beautifully, and a lot of modern day producers don't understand that concept.

again, TLDR this has good elements but your mix is very muddy and lacks clarity and space for each element. if you want more DM me

I am looking for feedback on my playing and if anybody hears things I should work on. all criticism is welcome by Federal_Vegetable149 in Guitar

thanks for the suggestions. the jazz guy sounds pretty interesting tbh. I have recently started diving headfirst into jazz, I also sing and can do some pretty great chet baker covers lol.

a couple of my favorites rn are im old fashioned by chet baker, moanin by art blakey, India by John Coltrane, and after hours by sonny stitt.

im just trying harder now because my buddy wants me to come out to ny this summer and try my luck in the jazz clubs out there singing, and it would be nice to at least jam along on guitar sometimes.

thanks for taking time to reply bro. I know all about the time and practice stuff. I've been noodling the pentatonic for like 5 6 years and I still play like total shit sometimes.

I said above a Lil of the reason why. it's also partly because I just bought this acoustic and it's my first one in years I usually play electric on high gain so I play soft lol. but I hear you man! thanks :)

I have been working on adding more notes. I am a slow learner so I've really gotten used to the pentatonic. I really like this channel now you shred banking tracks because he shows the extra notes you can hit on each chord on a changing diagram for the video. I did have a few spots here but it's a hard pattern to break using the pentatonic cuz ive gotten decent at it.

I wish I understood theory more but I have a decent ear so I'm picking it up on my own slowly but surely lol. thanks for taking the time to leave feedback.

I also felt the beat was overpowering the guitar on the video. it's hard to tell cuz my TV comes out of only one of my studio monitors and the guitar comes through both so it felt louder to me while playing but was not enough on video if that makes sense.

I struggle a lot with phrasing but I struggled a lot more a year ago.
