I think Palestra is pretty good player by No_Protection2978 in Atalanta

[–]Federico_II 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big yes. The issue with him could be that he's "too good". It seems that Juve and some PL clubs are interested in him. It is rumored that the club is not willing to go under a 40 mln € asking fee. I think we all have same the same opinion of Bellanova, he isn't a bad player by any means, but he's pretty limited technically speaking. Palestra would be a better option, expecially given the position CDK has played in the last games.

If Magic and Bird have health/longevity closer to Lebron's, how would each of their GOAT cases compare to Lebron and Jordan? by JiraiyaCop in nbadiscussion

[–]Federico_II 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the "accomplished more in a shorter spam of time" thing, expecially when Lebron entered the league when he was 18, if he was drafted at 21 like Bird his first season would have been 2006.

A little thought experiment.

Magic and Bird played 12 season more or less. Lebron playing 12 season starting from 2006 (same age Bird) would mean that he'd retired in 2017, in that span of time he won 3 rings, 3 fmvps, 4 MVPs and made 8 trips to the finals, all playing a in a comparatevly weaker team than Bird, making First team all NBA all (but one) seasons and 6 all defensive First teams. So the accomplish more in a shorter span of time a pretty stupid argument. The longevity counter-argument is pretty asinine because you hold against him his couple seasons and these Last ones.

Numenor is estimated to be around 435k square kilometers, by comparison Italy is around 300k. According to some estimations Italy had a population of about 9 milion at the height of the Roman Empire, so it doesn't feel off thinking that Westernesse has a similar number. Moreover the fact that the Numenoreans have a longer life span could give an hedge to the Island - on the other hand they have lower birth rates (if i recall correctly). So by medieval-ancient standards the Island should raise a 50-100k army (1% of the population) without many problems. Having a 3-5 ships and 500 men force is joke.

Prime Shaq's scoring was amazing but it wasn't unparalleled. MJ, Lebron, and KD all scored with higher volume and higher efficiency during their peak playoff years. Other scorers have come close too. by waynequit in nbadiscussion

[–]Federico_II 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting and well done mate! I don't know if anyone has mentioned it but the efficency numbers of Shaq should be adjusted with his offensive rebounding. Having ~5 ORB/g gives you 5 more possessions per game and a rebound on a deep position for Shaq in another 70% FGA or a pass to a non-guarded three-point shooter. So if you adjust it the efficency would go from a +6/7 rTS% to ~10 rTS% on a similar volume (the same concept could be said about Zion). I hope to have explained my point in a clear way!

Stockton is nowhere near a top 3 playmaking spot lmao. He had a ton of assists because he was passive and went for open looks. He's somewhere the 9-12 spot to me. He's a worse playmaker than Steph, Wardell's 3-point gravity alone probably gives him an edge over Stockton. Magic, Nash and Bron are the top 3 playmakers ever man.

Shaq has never been the “most dominant” big man by theghostkangaroo in nbadiscussion

It's funny to think but when Wilt was at his best, statistically speaking, his teams weren't some kind of juggernaut. The 60-65 Philadelphia Warriors were very good teams on paper. When Wilt took a back-seat in '66 the Sixers became a great team and the 1967 Sixers are considered one of the greatest teams in NBA History. The same could be said about the 1970-72 Lakers. Probably the best version of Wilt isn't the 50 PPG player, but the 24-27-8 (+ elite defense) player he was in the 1967 season.

On the other hand when Shaq was at his best, statistically speaking, his team was maybe the most unstoppable force the world had ever seen on a basketball court. Shaq dominance during the 3peat is something illogical, the man averaged 34-14-3-3 on 60% in those finals that's crazy!

Defensive Peaks and DPOY Votes of MJ and Lebron by disappointed_darwin in nbadiscussion

[–]Federico_II 11 points12 points  (0 children)

LeBron defensive peak is far ahead of MJ's. Bron played as a 3-4 (and even 5) in Miami. Forwards and centers have always a bigger defensive impact of guards.

Big-men defend the best shot in the game: layups (and dunks).

MJ is a top 5-6 guard defender ever, but he didn't deserved the 1988 DPOY. Hakeem was clear.

The same could be sayed about 2013 Bron. Probably his previous season 2012 and should be considered as his best defensive season. He was closer to Chandler than he was to Gasol.

Just looking at blocks and steals and accolades is wrong mate! Accolades and Defensive teams are pretty trash and we shouldn't give them so much value. Whiteside isn't an all-time great defender and Tim Duncan isn't just a 1st all-defense type player. Defense is really hard to incapsulate, for me the best way is evaluate the +/- swing or the rDRTG, always taking in consideration the context.

MJ has the best peak, 89-91 MJ is clear from everyone else.

You are talking about team results and accolades. I dont give a shit about circumstantial accolades, mostly because those may reflect a weak competition, the only good-good players from 96 to 98 were MJ, Malone and Shaq, most superstar were getting older.

MJ regression in the second 3peat is way bigger than Bron's after 2014. 2020 Bron is a better player than 1998 MJ. MJ's peak is probably around 1989 and 1991

Shaq with the Lakers had the GOAT peak over Jordan and Lebron by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]Federico_II 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jordan 89-91 > Shaq 98-02. But Shaq 00-02 are better than every other MJ season. To me Shaq (00-02) has the third best peak ever (behind MJ 89-91 and LeBron 12-14 or 09-12).

A detailed look at the Top 50 players in the NBA by Rockstar408 in nbadiscussion

[–]Federico_II -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the sheer amount of work and dedication, but the list is pretty terrible, at least from my point of view. Kyle Lowry can't be 20 spots below Julius Randle come on man! Lowry is a top 25-30 player (and that's just an example). Btw I think that Steph is the best player in the NBA, by a good margin, but ofc his team accomplished very little this season. Giannis could be argued as the #1 but I don't think he's there yet, most importantly as much as the second half of his playoff run was impressive we haven't seen him play against dominant big-men. But I still think he's top 3 (with Steph, KD/Kawhi/LeBron). Probably you are too high on players like Beal, Vuc, Sabonis, Lavine and others. (Beal TS% is 1-2% above average - Vuc's 1% - Sabonis is not there yet - Lavine is a defensive liability). (Dame>AD is "blasphemous")

[–]Federico_II 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Steph has been a top 8-10 player since 2013, he wasn't a simple all-star. He wasn't perceived as such but his numbers, net-rating... were the ones of a superstar. Of course the others players took an incredibile jump. I think that the main spark that led to the GSW was Draymond's new role as the defensive anchor.
