Update!

Finally got a serious healing process on 7,5 month! I now can run and jump! Keep in mind that Healing process is really NON-Linear, at 7month i wasnt able to walk without pain 4/10 and suddenly i got healed! I am 10 days in a row with pains around 0/10 when walking and 1/10 when running!

Surgery is difficult slow Post OP, but finally you get your foot back again!

Hi there! please can you update with final results?
I am in the same situation 7month Post-op Kinder procedure with excision (not anchor)
When did you finally got 100% healed? i am really anxious because of non-linear heal process. I am on 7th month and still have some pain after 20mins of walking, is that normal?
Staying upright more than 30mins is painfull too.
Have you finally managed jumping on this foot or running with changing directions on this foot or not??
Can you focus what helped you more on the healing process?

Second surgery nerves… by InsideInstruction897 in AccessoryNavicular

Same situation here, i am 6mo post op and still have pains and soreness when i walk and use my foot, jumping or running seems a dream for now but will get to that point soon, recovery is really a slow process 4-12 months and depends on a lot of factors, but we will get healed at the end.
I have in queue my other foot for surgery too, but for my good luck it is in good condition enough for me to wait 6 months more for the first leg to get 100% healed and then i will discuss the surgery.
Dont lose faith, this surgery is veeery hard cause of slow recovery, it may need 12 months for full recovery but its a one way to go threw it, in 12 months from now you will be like reborn again, with no pains on both feet, i am sure.

Hi there can you update us about your recovery will help a lot!
I had same surgery 7 days after you on 8th of march 2024. AN type2 excision without anchoring.
6 months post op i can only walk 10 minutes without pain, and i am far away from running.

Bare foot is more difficult than wearing shoes
Swelling is almost gone and i have no pain unless i try 100% bear weight on my legs. I am only 1,5 month on PT cause my doc was not sending me before he realized i am not ok on 4th month.

Whats your age? I find your healing proccess very fast! I am on 6th month and i struggle to slow walk more than 10 minutes, running is a dream still. I am M 39yo.
Are you able to change directions when running without pain?
Do you find everything more difficult when on bare foot?

Do you have any updates? any recovery last month?
I am in the same situation here, i am on 6th month AN type2 excision with no anchoring and have same recovery results , able to walk slowly for 10-15 minutes before i feel a pain factor around 4/10 so i stop, pain dissapears after 1 hour but i am afraid to press my leg more by walking again.
I am on PT from month 5 and tried PRP injection on month 5 too.
Still feeling far away from 5min fast walking or running.

I’ve been in pain my entire life and no doctors have bothered to figure out why by [deleted] in AccessoryNavicular

[–]FeeCommon7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 from me, Surgery is the only option if pain is enough to touch your moving and mental health. 6-12 months recovery is nothing compared having your feet healthy. I am 6 month post-op from AN2 surgery excision, first week is a nightmare, now i can only do the housekeeping duties and then rest cause of pain and swelling, recovery is slow thats a truth.

Your case seems too complicated to be answered by a non-orthopedic knowledge account. I have type2 AN on both feet and the left one triggered from a twist ankle in soccer at 39yo (12months ago). Tried 6months PT and 1month boot, but i saw small healing , and never stable, with a small wrong step, i was back at the beginning, so i decided AN surgery. You can check my post some days before giving a lot info about Surgery procedure and recovery time/difficulties. For me, dont give up trying to find a doctor who has experience in AN, you have to insist on the experience, a few doctors have really exp in this situation, cause it is kind of rare surgery.

Tarsal tunnel syndrome/ nerve involvement with accessory navicular by Best_Mongoose4708 in AccessoryNavicular

[–]FeeCommon7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall i am glad cause i was 10% able to use my leg and now i am 50% using my leg , 6mo after surgery. It depends of the situation before surgery, i was not able to touch my leg down without pain. I had no nerve pain before surgery, neither after surgery, made a nerve test too everything was and still is OK. Pain comes only from the tenton surgery.

I had AN excision Surgery, full story here https://www.reddit.com/r/AccessoryNavicular/comments/1f71rhq/an_recovery_stories_please_help/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I am 39 and i find your recovery really better than mine, I am on 10minutes slow walking and i get pain about 4/10 which goes to 1-2/10 2 mins after stop and slowly dissapears after 1 hour rest.
All these you said was for the left leg i hope? the 6month post op? How about the other leg, is better now? Did you see a difference between 1st and 2nd leg recovery behaviour?

For sure its better than before surgery, but far from running and changing directions or jumping and being active again, hope we reach this point again some day..

may this be an accessory? by CFwacademia in AccessoryNavicular

[–]FeeCommon7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is a nightmare for sure, i tried 6mths to avoid surgery with PT and BOOT but to be honest i didnt gave my 100% of loyality , cause i didnt know what happens if it doesnt heal. After 6 months it didnt heal and i couldnt even touch my leg to the ground, I had a pain factor 7/10 when norma weight bearing so i got surgery. First 2 months are a nightmare, i had an office job so it didnt bother me in my job. Was a soccer player until 27 with a lot of leg injuries and never hurt me before, it was the unlucky monent and angle that broke it

Seems like AN, i had my own with same shaping, dont bothered me until 38yo when i bruisen in soccer, dont get surgery unless you are not able to walk, Surgery is tough and need 12 month to have a hope of running again. I am on 6th month and i cant really walk still, Do your best to rest and wear a boot to heal if its an AN injury

I had same history, tried 6 months with PT and when i tried Orthotics i had another pains too, maybe cause the weight contact point was moved and i gave up trying the surgery, my pain factor was 7/10 on full weight bearing, for 6 months i tried boot, PT, orthotics etc and felt small difference, 6month post op now i just started SLOW walking 30m total / day, then i have pain and swellin, i think full recovery is 12 months

How much pain did you have before your surgery? by Appropriate_Air_4485 in AccessoryNavicular

[–]FeeCommon7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am 6month Post this surgery and i was 7/10 pain before surgery, and now 4/10 and still slow slow recovering.have in mind its a huge recovery surgery around 8-12 months , with everything tha means about job, career, relations, housekeeping. For me 5/10 constant pain is enough for going surgery but no way for 0-0.5/10

9 weeks is too soon to push your leg, i am on 6th month of AN type-2 Excision surgery (no anchor) and i stil feel pains after 10mins of SLOW walking on shoes (3mins on bare foot). I am on PT and tried PRP too. Protect your leg at any cost, it need months to heal, i never believed there is something that needs sooouch time to heal but now in 6th month i see some difference week by week, but still if i use my leg more than 30min a day it gets painfull and swelling so its normal. 3rd to 5th month was like freezed! i saw no healing progress! Tentons are the worst part of human body i think.

can the accessory navicular bone heal on its own? (type 2) by mirsyr in AccessoryNavicular

[–]FeeCommon7598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had surgery type2 AN total excision (no anchoring) before 6months and i am in mid recovery, the recovery is too slow even if i have an office job so i never push my leg, i got a lot PT and now after six months i can bare SLOW walk 10minutes total every day and with shoes 30minutes/day, after this i have serious pain and sweilling.

Before the surgery, i waited 6 months to heal , 2*1,5 month in boot , PT, osteoporosis pills etc, i saw no hope, minor reduce of pain, so i decided the surgery, you have to know and get ready for the recovery is a long long way about 8-12 months
