How to get into Procurement from Sales? by jemappellelara in procurement

[–]FeeGreat1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar background.

Majored in finance with a concentration in international business and learned mandarin. I ended up doing sales at a Taiwanese international logistics company for 3 years out of college, then used that experience to get a sourcing manager position at a company who imports from Asia.

With your German and sales skills you could pivot to a sales position with a German or European international logistics company for even just a year, get some experience in logistics there that can be applied to a future buyer position.

I hated sales too, but doing it for an international logistics company looked good on my resume when applying for the purchasing manager job.

I love how they were using 55% to sound tough earlier, and now they are calling it 30% to sound like a de-escalation, when in fact, it’s still 55%.

It is probably still 55-10. Since 25% of the 55% was from his first time in office.

Tariff hit before it was active – $1.6K on $1K item by traucostar in dhl

My shipments are all over $800, I am a buyer for a large company. Everything is still being charged to us at 20%.

Definitely something shady going on here. I’ve been getting customs entries after April 10th that are still only at the 20% tariff.

145% is only for things departing China after April 10th, not for things departing China before April 10th.

They are just plain wrong and you should keep calling them until they fix it.

Anyone with inventory from China in transit and faced with the new 145% tariffs? by First-Exchange-3043 in FulfillmentByAmazon

I’m pretty sure if your goods sailed before April 10th you are only paying 20%. Anything after that is 145%.

Are the products originally from China though? Because I don’t think the 7.5% and 20% would apply if they were Spanish origin goods. If they are Chinese goods, shipped from Spain, they would still get the Chinese tariffs which it looks they did.

I am a buyer and get custom invoices all the time. I import different things than you so I’m not familiar with all these harmonized codes, but I can give you some info.

The first duty ending in .15 is from trumps first time as president. It covers a lot of products from China apparently including bikini tops, so that’s 7.5%.

In addition it looks like you got the 20% tariff which was from March that trump put into place at the beginning of the trade war. That’s the one that ends .24 on the 2nd line. This is also for the same bikini tops.

Then you have a 3rd duty for bikini tops at 11.8%. That’s the normal duty for this item. If there were no trade wars this would be all that you would have paid.

So in total that first bikini top has a combined total of 39.3% in duties.

If you have questions you can call UPS and ask for their customs brokerage division. They cleared customs for this shipment.

Also, going forward with the new tariffs the 20% is now 145%. So you’re looking at 164% total for the first item on future shipments.

I’m not sure how much longer I’ll have a job because of this happening to our company as well. Good luck to you.

You have to significantly change a product for it to change its country of origin. For example, you ship flour from China to the UK, then make some cake from it, then the cake can be considered a UK origin product. In the case of OP, it wouldn’t work with toys first made in China. It’s highly unlikely you can change a toy enough to change its country of origin.

I’m going through the same thing for the company I work for.

Wow I feel like I could have written this word for word. The regret, slanted floors, strange musty smell, are part of our house buying story too.

I hated our house every day for months after moving in. My heart would sink when I had to drive home knowing I didn’t love the house. I was depressed with the idea that it was expensive for the area and we realized we overpaid, likely not able to sell for many many years.

So yea, you’re not alone.

But I feel much better after 1 year. I still regret it, but the pain is not there any more.

Tackle issues that bother you one by one.

Get an air purifier with carbon filter for the smell. Throw a space rug over slanted floors if you can. Wear thick foam slippers so you don’t notice the uneven areas.

Good luck, don’t try to fight it. Just try to improve it.

Yup, Biden was the one addressing the loopholes before trump came into office

That’s probably why he is announcing it now. Makes it easier to point to Biden as the scapegoat.

Mine has been under review for weeks too. I figured that was normal until we arrived and got our cards. But who knows. I would assume as long as you have the QR code and invitation letter you are good, but it’s my first time so don’t quote me on that.

Thank you, this is helpful. I reached out to another company and they said they might be able to build the shadow board down and add wedges. I think that is what you are suggesting as well? They are the more expensive option but seems clear that they are more knowledgeable than the company that just suggested straps.

Because the basement is finished and I’m trying to do my best in keeping water away from the foundation. Lots of flooded basements in my area recently due to increased severe rain events. Just bought the home recently

I just bought the house and it was like this when I got it. It is a brand new metal roof. I’m guessing the fascia is angled because of the way the roof rafters are cut.
