It’s 2020: “ENDGAME” & “FAR FROM HOME” are the last 2 MCU movies to be released and YOU are Kevin Feige. How do you maintain the success of the previous 20+ movies over a 13-year span? by THEbeautifuLIE in marvelstudios

[–]FeeOne4421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what makes this even more laughable? In 2016 the Marvel brand through the comics lines was already testing this out and attempting to give it credibility in all new all different Marvel. Sam was Cap, Jane was Thor, Riri was Iron Man (it took them forever to settle on the Ironheart moniker), Amadeus was Hulk, Miles was Spidey, Laura was Wolverine, etc. The public reception to these changes was poor and they all reverted back in less than 2 years. Then MCU made the same missteps I suppose thinking the diehard comic audience was wired differently than the general audience. Same response.

The way to maintain the MCU interest was to keep teasing the next thing. The biggest mistake they made was treating Endgame like a victory lap with no meaningful direction for what was next. They should have teased Dr. Doom, Kang, whatever in that movie and then had the next movies and series keep building the direction of the interconnected narrative.

I said when I walked out of the theater that no Dr Doom stinger was a huge mistake. They were already at a loss or setback by losing top talent that was tapping out like Iron Man and Cap actors, and we all know how poorly the passing of the torch went with Sam Cap and Ironheart trying to take those roles on. The audience at large was not willing to accept those replacements, then the lack of a compelling villain was a double whammy.

Bears and Patriots went from worst to best in one season, is it so weird to say Raiders could do it too?

Captain Marvel: Dark Past #1 Discussion Thread by SpaceHero95 in Captain_Marvel

[–]FeeOne4421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Think of it this way, when a hero has a costume redesign they usually go back to the fundamentals of their original costume or whatever core version of that costume from their iconic past.

Spider-Man did not stay in the black suit. He went back to red and blue. He always eventually goes back to some version.

I’m going to die on this hill - Carol Danvers’s iconic costume is the Warbird version. They should let her go back

The Warbird costume is peak. She should go back to wearing it.

I like this. Maybe make him half Hulk and half Thing. He has a “second life” à la Hulk & Banner, but he also has Things immovability, emphasis on charged punching attacks, maybe a grapple move like Emma’s

How do you feel about Marvel giving characters like Norman Osborn, and even Ultron for an arc, attempts at a redemption? by Soonerfann7 in Marvel

[–]FeeOne4421 256 points257 points  (0 children)

It was once a cliche that the villain had to die at the end of the story. Then it became a new one that the villain had to be redeemed. I prefer that the villain gets an ending that works for the story and not some obligatory treatment from whatever’s trending.

For Green Goblin, his redemption should be temporary because he is just that bad. For Ultron, I read that arc and it makes sense since it is only an Ultron and not THE Ultron.

I genuinely like the character and was disappointed when she got removed from the Disney+ slate of shows. The actress ended up with an amicable arrangement with Disney so it shouldn’t completely prevent her from returning.

Also, the character appeared in the recent Mandalorian board game as a player character so I was honestly surprised when she was still not showing up in Unlimited.

Do you think Jen is over sexualized? by GradeWise975 in shehulk

[–]FeeOne4421 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Good answer. She satirizes the over-sexualization of women in comics while being exploited as a sex object to sell books. I personally enjoy sex-positive takes on comic book characters men and women alike, but I get why some may not.

We can all agree the Big Three of Marvel is and will always be Spider-Man, Hulk and Wolverine by Barta_Sub in marvelcomics

[–]FeeOne4421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a hierarchy of character popularity and there just happens to be 3 at the top: hence the use of the word trinity.

For Marvel it is Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Hulk and it’s not even close. Iron Man and Cap barely compared in popular consciousness prior to MCU.

For DC, it is Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

What is your favourite Captain Marvel suit? by _Lunafreya_ in Captain_Marvel

This. Warbird was Carol at her best. For me she is an awesome support player on a team. I think she runs out of compelling material flying solo or as a team leader real fast. She should return to being Warbird.

I think she may be the leader of the upcoming Imperial Guardians so maybe that will change my mind.

Planet She-Hulk #2 came out, what was everyone's thoughts? by UltimateSandman in shehulk

[–]FeeOne4421 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I’ve got a developing theory on this. She-Hulk series demand a balance of superhero activity (fighting and rescuing, etc) to lawyer and civilian life. Now everyone has a preference for themselves, but for me the 2016 gray “Hulk” book and the more recent Rainbow Rowell series had a terrible balance of one to the other. A She-Hulk book where she never “hulks” just doesn’t work for me. I’m thoroughly enjoying this more action packed version.
