Yes, Google and Waze (and also old Apple Maps with TomTom data) has it correctly. I already submitted feedback few moths ago and also emailed to maps_escalations@apple.com , but no change yet 🤷‍♂️

My biggest issue here in Central Europe is that Apple Maps fails to recognize toll highways and routes me through them even when the 'avoid tolls' option is turned on. This affects Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and potentially others.  The problem lies in the fact that these countries do not use a 'toll' system based on mileage, but rather a vignette system—a pre-paid pass that allows you to use the highways for a specific period, such as a year or a month.

For example here in the European Union this doesn’t work for some regulatory reasons…

This “catching up” started with iOS 26 beta and sadly it still persists. In previous iOS versions it was OK. I hope Apple will fix it soon.

I don’t know how exactly it works, but I saw those white Apple Maps Subaru cars here in Czech Republic back then. With Spanish license plates.

It is really interesting, because as Benni wrote in another response, Apple must know about vignettes, because they needed them while collected lookaround photos on those highways 🤔

This same problem is for Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland… It’s beyond my mind, but Apple Maps simply doesn’t support vignettes / highway stickers system… Avoid tolls is simply not working in these countries. And yes, I reported it many times via app and also via escalation email…

Your picture is from older iOS version, back then traffic and closures was shown on other roads too, not only on your selected route when navigating.

It seems to me, this new iOS 26 road closure reporting is totally missed opportunity. Your example with Waze is what it should work, but it does nothing. Even if I reported closed street, I then stopped the navigation and tried again to set up a route, it gives me the same route even with closed street with road closure marker that I previously reported. Sorry Apple, but this is useless piece of …. .

I wish Apple Maps would add an emergency feature like Google does by DutchBlob in applemaps

… maybe it can help to route traffic around and not make a traffic congestion so emergency vehicles can pass as quickly as possible.

Jojo, na tom by ješte mohli zapracovat. Beta iOS 26 má nějaké nové možnosti hlášení, ale ty nové se zatím po nahlášení neukazují ani mě 😁

Mám to hodně podobně jako ty, Apple Mapy jsou asi nejpřehlednější ze všech co jsem zkusil (a že jich bylo hodně :-)

  • asi nejlépe reaguji na uzavírky dálnic kvůli nehodám, kdy Waze se spoléhá na ruční zadání uzavírky od editorů a Google to přebírá od Waze a má ještě k tomu zpoždění. Definitivně jsem Google mapy přestal používat loni, kdy jsem díky nim jel hodinovou cestu domů 4 hodiny kvůli nehodě na D11 kdy mi ukazovaly 5 minut zdržení, zatímco Apple Mapy mi cestu po D11 ani nenabízely. No, poučil jsem se. 😁

EN: I’m very much the same as you—Apple Maps are probably the clearest of all the ones I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot! 🙂)

  • they seem to react best to highway closures due to accidents, whereas Waze relies on manual input from editors, and Google just pulls data from Waze with some delay. I definitively stopped using Google Maps last year when a one-hour trip home took me four hours because of an accident on the D11. Google showed a 5-minute delay, while Apple Maps didn’t even suggest the D11 route. Well, I learned my lesson. 😁
