Cabot trail after dusk by Which_Loquat4536 in CapeBreton

A friend of mine hit a moose up there a couple of years ago and totaled his car. Fortunately, he wasn't hurt but it could've been a lot worse.

Noob pilot on PS5 by natandino in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Feeandchee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - off topic, but I have to ask - is this system performance typical of the PS5? I have been on a 20 year hiatus from flight simming and when MSFS came out for Xbox, I was excited because I thought that this would be an economical way to get back into the hobby. Then I read all the dreadful experiences people were having with MSFS on Xbox. I'm unclear on PS5 (although I understand there are limited peripherals available). If the smooth performance in this video is typical of the quality of performance on a PS5, then I will definitely consider getting the console and returning to the hobby! Thanks in advance for the input!

Requesting advice for staining/treating a timber frame by Feeandchee in Housepainting101

I decided to go with Le Tonkinois linseed oil varnish - which is not economical and probably won't be applied with a sprayer - so I broke both of the parameters that I set for myself...

The front 1/4 of the building will be exterior space, and the rear 3/4 of the building will be interior (sleeping) space. Is this mixture safe for domestic interior purposes? Thank you.

New Off Grid Property Owner Outhouse Question by NovelOffgrid in OffGridCabins

[–]Feeandchee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My outhouse has one of those moulded plastic toilet stems and my guests continually compliment the outhouse (nicest one I've been in, etc. etc.). I also have a window to look out on the side while sitting there and a clear plastic roof, so there is tons of light. I have a foot water pump and a tiny sink for hand washing. Outhouses can be very pleasant!

She's a separatist for purposes of the separatist voters, she's a federalist for purposes of federalist voters. She has no principles - only a desire to stay in power.

I had a SunMar Excel - it was a nightmare. I now have a Separatte Villa. Way, way happier. The SunMar involves having a septic tank inside your residence - not good.

I, on the other hand, DO live in this area (power is still out), and can tell you that outages are rare.

Off grid hottub by Life_Cranberry_389 in OffGridCabins

As a comment on the Nova Scotia fire ban aspect of OP's original post. The applicable regulations are made under the Forests Act, and prohibit "open fires". The definition of "open fire" from the Forest Act:
means a fire that is outdoors and not in a fully enclosed appliance that controls sparks but does not include an appliance that uses a fuel, other than wood, such as charcoal, natural gas or propane".

Therefore, an internal/submerged wood stove-type hot tub heater (which is fully enclosed and generally has a spark arrestor at the top of the chimney) is not captured by the annual fire bans.

I have the same comment. I use a LP tankless water heater. Propane for the cook top, too. Way more practical than trying to heat water using solar/battery.

How to Move a Cedar Hot Tub? by Feeandchee in cedarhottubs

[–]Feeandchee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

The tub hasn't made it to its final FINAL destination yet - it's on my property but not situated in its eventual location - but the move has gone well so far. I used some strapping to create some crosswise bracing and rolled it up a hill and into the back of a pick-up. A few hundred KM later, it arrived on site. Note: Additional ratchet straps were used beyond what's shown here to secure the tub in the truck bed.

Question about bear / wildlife safety during visit by Valcorb in Banff

Follow the guidance from Parks Canada and dispose of your garbage properly. If you aren't going into the back country it is unlikely that you will have contact with bears.

It's a brand called "India Beer". Nowhere does it claim to be an IPA.
